Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

There are many helpful apps and tools available, but most software out there are not designed to tackle the specific workflow and challenges that present themselves to tinters. Tint Wiz™ is a CRM app designed specifically for window tint companies. Book appointments, create proposals, send invoices, schedule jobs, manage tasks, and more.

I wrap cars, I don't book anyone until I get a deposit. I've done it before without a deposit, ordered vinyl and it was a no go from the client (spending $$$ on vinyl and no work)... so yeah, now I only take deposits.

I typically have all my clients for the day drop their cars off first thing in the am. The stress of managing late/early/waiting customers is not worth it to me.
@StaySleazyBro
@StaySleazyBro 3 года назад
i do the same bro. i cant stand waiting customers, even if theyre chill and just sit in the waiting room watching the tv, it still puts a weird pressure on me. i let everyone know that my jobs take longer but come out cleaner than any shop around here. ive only had 1 redo in the past year so its worked out really well.

I like drop offs the best, I hear ya on time. I have a fair amount of people wait because they didn't or can't get a ride so I wonder how many of thoes people wouldn't book with me for that reason. i might end up doing this as I get busier

Absolutely! I found that you can generally tell which one's were tyre kicking by the silly extra questions they "pad" the conversation with. If a person is serious they'll be more than happy to pay a deposit 💯

Ordered some tools to continue learning how to tint better and hopefully start doing this as second income. Your videos have helped me gain confidence to start doing it and hopefully I can get that good to maybe one day have a fully functional tint shop.

In my previous business I was forced, by no shows, to start taking a pre payment. I fought it for a long time thinking I would run off my loyal clients. Not only did my repeat clients not mind pre paying, I was able to put paying clients in the slots of those who would have been no shows when they balked at paying up front. Whenever we had an objection My employees, or I, would say something like: "I know you wouldn't stand us up but, unfortunately, enough people do that it ends up wasting a lot of time that could be used for something else."

I only work with deposits now. It's seriously cleaned up my time management and energetic investments on projects. When someone puts down a deposit I can justify spending as much time as I want on it depending on the complexity. If there's no deposit, I pretend the conversation never happened. I charge $50 for the design consultation; 50% up front, 50% before final delivery of the service or good. The design consultation is non-refundable and covers 30-60 minutes of my time, but if they go through with the purchase it's added into the up front cost.

I do wrap and tint. For wrap i take 50% deposit , for tint i don't. Last week two clients didnt show up and i waste time and money. Its amazing how much stupid and unresponsable people is around us. It's not often but i have that problem sometimes.

I've dealt with no-shows too. Requiring deposits kinda worked but there was also some issues. I've currently switched to a first come, first basis and if anyone insists on having an appointment, I need full payment upfront. I can't pay employees if customers flake out

Hey where did you get that flooring in your shop? It’s soooo pretty. Way cleaner than any other shop I’ve seen. Your shop in general is beautiful, but I would really like to copy your floor if that’s ok w you ❤

I think deposits are a good idea. It's like doing a quote for an electrical job and charging an hour to come out a do a quote and including that in the bill if they hire you for the job. There's a little more of a commitment to it, and if they are really serious and not just wasting your time, then they won't mind. I've gone out on a quote before, and the guy was just pumping for information on how to do it and had no intension on hiring the company I was working for at the time! I think it keeps thing real!

Generlly i can tell, if they ask too many questions i know they're just serching and comparing. When someone is decided generally just asks the relevant questions, which level, type, time and cost. that's it. But if someone doesn't show up, i call the next clients in my book "hey a space became available sooner, does it work for you?"..and many times they apreciate it.

After you put the tape on the back window, when you go to cut it are you actually cutting in the middle of the tape or do you cut it to the edge as best yo can?
@DetroitTintStudio
@DetroitTintStudio 3 года назад
I shoot for the middle but if I need to cut slimmer I'll cut closer to the edge. it's up to how much space I have on the inside of the window. most times I have more than enough space to if I accidentally did wider, it would be fine
