Looking back on 1 year of work @bramblecottageuk .
👉 See how we spent the year bringing the cottage back to life -
• Victorian Cottage Reno...
Watch along as we start renovating Bramble cottage. After 6 months of chemotherapy we slowly began renovating. Rich had to regain his, strength, stamina and cope with neuropathy.
While at the same time learning to cope with the reality of life after cancer.
We have come a long way and so has Bramble cottage. We still have a long way to go but with all the support from our Bramblers we are looking forward to a bright future.
Thanks for watching!

🏆👩 About us and our goals 👨🏆
We are Gill and Richard and we are both British.
In 2004 we moved from England to Austria. At the time Rich promised me that we would return to the UK asap.
In 2021 we were still in Austria and by chance we heard of an old unloved Victorian cottage for sale in Wiltshire, England.
The cottage was only just within our budget and we knew that it was going to be a challenging renovation project.
Our goals were "simple"-
1) Buy the house
2) Split our time between Austria (Rich's job) and the UK
3) Renovate and move asap
4) Retire to the UK and live happily ever after
These plans were delayed in February 2022 when Rich's employer asked us to move to Texas for 1 year. The plans were further delayed in March 2023 when Rich was diagnosed with cancer and he had to undergo 6 months of chemotherapy
In October 2023 Rich's cancer was in remission so we moved to the UK to start the renovation.
We hope you enjoy our videos.

I am so glad I came across your channel. It was a little short of this strange man up an extendable ladder attending an apple tree! Since then I have seen every one of your videos and love the banter between you both and you show the highs and lows and reality of doing a renovation done by ordinary people. You show it as it happens. Nothing fancy etc. DIY takes time and there is no quick solution to doing it yourself. I was amazed seeing on this summary as to how overgrown the garden was. Reflecting back to the start of this adventure truly shows what you have both accomplished so far. Just think what we will see happen in the next 12 months. Big hugs, Sophie.

A wonderful, joyful video. Isn’t it amazing how far you’ve come! I’m continually surprised at the size of Bramble’s garden and perhaps can look forward to next spring’s vegetable planting. I’m happy to hear of your ideas to branch out into other content, while I love the renos, I’d also appreciate some jam making instruction. Or, who knows, perhaps a lesson in making my favourite Bakewell Tarts? Whatever you do, I’ll be here, watching, commenting, supporting and raising a glass of wine to all your hard work. And please, don’t stop your fireside chats, they are the heart and soul of your videos.

WOW i cant believe its been 12 months already - you have laid your cards on the table and not many people are able to do that - i hope that people continue to support and appreciate what you are doing while being kind in their comments. Its good to have a recap - i had forgotten about the first window x

One thing is for sure…you can’t make everyone happy on RU-vid 🤷‍♀️ Some people prefer impersonal “get it done” videos and I am not one of them. As I’ve said before, I watch for the people and if you haven’t noticed, I kinda, sorta like you guys (actually I adore both of you, but I’m trying to reign in my mushball-ness, so don’t tell everybody I said this! 😂). You provide us Bramblers with so much fun, relatable experiences on many levels and a “safe space” for our feelings. What’s not to love? So, now that I’ve “talked too much” too 😂…many hugs and much love to both of you, as always 😁🤗🥰😁

Great to see a couple who give things a go after illness. The old cottage looked like it needed you two as it was in bad shape too. You have really made huge progress and are a co operative pair who seem very honest with each other. Thanks for inspiring this 74 yr old survivor. Keep going and many cheers from Oz🦘👏💞
