I happen to be playing a Uesugi campaign at this moment and I can say for sure that that wouldn't be the case for the Takeda every time. I vassalized them after taking them down to one province but with two of their armies remaining almost in full strength in North Shinano "knowing" they would betray me instantly. But instead - and to my surprise -, they used their armies to rush the Oda in central japan and stood loyal for dozens of turns before getting overwhelmed by the Hattori and the stupid Hatekayama. If I'm not mistaken, they even got bigger then me at some point. It reminded me the time that I as Tokugawa eclipsed the Imagawa in territory, remaining their vassal but waring all over the place as if I was free.

I'm new to the channel, I've played shogun for thousands of hours and I have to say that the game improves a lot with the MoSS (Master of Strategy) mod. I don't know if you've played it, but I recommend it.
