Creativity has introduced me to new tools to manage my mental health. I often find that way watercolor is not completely controllable is exciting at times.
my most favorite part of being creative is that you are never wrong!! being creative means that you can create something without worrying about "rules" or if it's "done right." creativity is a process in itself, and if you create, you are always learning, which is so rewarding!!
My favorite part about being creative is the feeling of peace, magic, and wonder I get creating something new. Being creative is in my blood in many ways. I was an actor in musicals for many years until I moved from California to Idaho. Now I can call myself an artist in drawing and painting thanks to your videos.
I love being creative because it is my happy place. I love Cinnamon & John & this community! Even though I’ve been watching for several years I always learn something new. The Art Sherpa is my favorite art teacher. ❤
My favorite thing about being creative is that I am able to put paint to canvas as a way to manage the day to day struggles of having ADHD and OCD. It is frequently (5 days a week or more) a resource that I use to quiet the chaos that happens in my mind and my life. Any source of respite I can utilize to quell the racing thoughts and extreme need for perfection is worth it. Watercolors are fluid; they have movement, and this allows me to not have to adhere to the strict rigidity that society and my mind requires. You make things easy to learn and you encourage me to become comfortable in the imperfect. As art in and of itself is imperfect, we find the joy and acceptance in the imperfect creation and the imperfect world. That is why I paint. That is why creativity in all its forms should be nurtured.
My favorite part about being creative is that it is so versatile. Everyone can be creative in their own ways and make creative arts with everything around them. I enjoy seeing all the different styles and techniques that creativity brings out. I also like that with being creative, you can release feelings and envok feeling in others.
Watercolors have always been intimidating to me but you are taking the fear out of painting in watercolors for me and letting in the joy. For that I thank you.
Watercoloring with you has opened a new thought process for me - different then acrylic. I feel the freedom to be looser and not be so self critical when I watercolor. I just love the creativity and freedom that watercolor brings. Most importantly, my 16yr daughter and I have been watercoloring together with you! We just finished the mason jars. Daughter has a strong drawing skill and I have a strong skill with color - we help and learn from each other and yourself and your mother. Mother/ daughter time can be hard pressed to find and its actually just great and so loving 2 quietly create together. Much appreciation from my family to yours. I love the creative expression watercolors give me. I just started watercoloring w my mom and being in highschool makes connecting with mom hard at times but we found watercoloring together with your channel helps give us that special creative bonding time. my fav part of being creative is it gets me out of my non stop chattering head. I love watercolor becuse it is hard to have control and it gives me a chance to play and not expect perfection.
Dear Cinnamon and John, Thank you both for all you do. I missed your teaching time that you were away, I had only just started watercolor painting. I searched for someone to replace your watercolor teaching but I couldn’t find someone else that cared as much as you both do. I was really feeling very depressed before starting watercolor painting. I am already been painting with acrylic paint but I was not happy with it. Watercolor paint is so much easier to use and so convenient to take with you out doors. Watercolour to me symbolises fun, relaxation, experimentation, freedom and therapy. It can be used at home on your lap, in a studio or on the go doing plein air. Its so flexible and easy to clean up after use. Its simply magical as to how it makes us feel and create. What I love about watercolor and being creative in general is when I'm creating I have something fun to focus on and forget about all the stressful things going on and gives me an escape from day to day life. What I love about watercolors are the versatility and honestly, the unpredictability! At least if you're new to it I feel that's a feature (just me? XD). But I love that. I love sharp and clear things can be, how saturated, but I also love how light and watery and undefined things can be. It's beautiful no matter how you choose to use it and it's wonderful for your mental health. It's not a medium I've had the chance to really work with before but I've been collecting supplies for a couple of years so that I can and I don't think I've ever been this excited to try a new medium. I'm so glad I found your watercolor channel (been following you on acrylic for quite a while!) and I hope you're feeling better this week!
I love watercolor because it's economical, versatile, easy to travel with, can be easy and can be challenging but never boring. But most importantly it's fun and relaxing. My art therapy. I love watercolor! I’m a graphic designer but growing up, I never considered myself an “artist” until I took my first watercolor class in college and I absolutely fell in love! I love the forgiving and loose nature of working with it.

I do more acrylic painting than watercolour, I am new to watercolour. I love having time to be creative! It allows me to explore and play with colours and various effects. I use to do alcohol Art, but it is too fugitive. I got tired of my pieces fading away. So I switched to watercolor & I’m sooo glad! I love the vibrancy, transparency & the softness. I love being able to immerse myself in my painting, very therapeutic!
I have always liked the look of Watercolor. It looks soft and flowy. The blooming affect makes me feel calm. Any kind of crafting takes my mind off my medical Challenges. I have always wanted to paint but did not know how to get the images on paper/ canvas. Big Gentle Art Hugs to you and yours! ❤

Ok now watching my art therapist I do tell everyone that I talk to about my art I always tell them about you and how great you are as an art teacher . MY LOVE OF WATERCOLOR IS STRONG my acrillic skills are ok but I'm famous for having my paintings get stacked and stuck so I have lost a few good ones because they stick together Watercolors never do that and I can fix things with watercolors ware I had to throw those stuck canvases away they made me sad since then everything I have been doing is watercolor or guash those look fun but I gave not been able to afford those yet I have been collecting the carne dash neo 11 watercolor crayons a couple at a time but I really want to try the vaviva and saw they have a metallic one too so I hope you pick me for the giveaway then I can use those along with you love your whole family you guys rock 💜🖖💜🐶💜👍💜👍💜

I have always loved watercolor paintings; however, I have NEVER tried to paint in watercolor. I have some old watercolor paints, not sure where I got them, but I have no idea how to use them. Watercolor paintings seem ethereal to me. Soft, calming, and not as intense as I can sometimes get doing acrylics. I LOVE acrylics but learning watercolor might be in my future.
I love watercolour because it is so easy to take with you anywhere, and now that you have introduced everyone to the Viviva sheets it’s even more compact and versatile. How amazing will it be to be able to take Viviva kits with you on the plane? So versatile and the only medium you need for watercolour is water how fabulous is that plus a little brush 😅

Just getting back I to painting. Love oils, but have never done well with acrylics. Excited about watercolors. I have gone from aspiring to realism, but lately have been leaning into a more impressionist loose aesthetic. I think it makes sense to build colors, which is opposite of my oils

I think what I love most about watercolor is getting totally lost in it and watching the magic happen - there's so many fun things that medium can do! I get so engrossed in any painting and enjoying myself that 4 hours go by and I don't even realize it. It's really a magical feeling. And I'm so grateful that Cinnamon and John are here.
I started with quilting while my husband was active duty as a way to pass the time while he was deployed. Many afternoons spent happily sewing and planning quilts. I started with acrylic painting several years ago after going to a few sip and paint nights. Then I discovered the Art Sherpa videos and off I went with those. I’ve now added watercolor into the mix. I love how all these creative pastimes spark so much of my imagination, not just in themselves, but between each other! Much thanks to the Art Sherpa and others for helping to continue my creative journey!

When I found your channel in 2016 (Acrylic) I was going through a rough time - my husband had been diagnosed with Terminal Brain Cancer. Since then I create every day - sometimes a sketch, sometimes a painting - I have tried doing watercolours (which I love), soft pastels, oil pastels, inks and pencil. Being creative has helped me "lose" myself when I am having a tough day. I share my artwork whenever possible. Thank you for all that you do for your community.
Always considered myself more of a crafter than an artist but as I've gotten older I have softened the line between the two and allowed myself to fill up space in the art community (special thanks to you and your affirming style of teaching). I am particularly drawn to line and wash watercolor because it feels like a direct expression of my being. I am a person who needs and respects structure, but also needs the space to move around freely within it, and sometimes around it. I am finding that the pieces I have done in this style are the pieces that I feel most connected with. Thank you for creating a space for us to discover that💜
My favorite part of being creative is releasing my inner self onto canvas or paper. I started out with acrylic and I have now branched out into water color. I find it much more challenging. I particularly love line and wash. I light a candle, put a little soft music on in the background and then just wait to see what my creative self puts down. Creativity brings me so much joy and it has opened me up more to the world around me. Thank you Cinnamon for being an excellent mentor.
I did watercolor back in the 70s but due to career/family/life, I laid it down. This last year, I began watching videos and regaining my skills. I love the look of the transparent layers. I still struggle with getting the realism that I am accustomed to in acrylics, but am loving the journey. Thanks for the great instructions in each video.
Watercolor was my first love and has remained so for many years. I love all mediums (media?), but watercolor lends itself to a feeling of freedom, unrestrained creative expression. Another thing I love about watercolor is that it makes so many unique techniques possible… just the nature of water itself allows beautiful marks and washes that you just can’t get with other media. I was so scared of Watercolor and now I love it not professional lol. I did a theme of the seashore as Christmas gifts fo my family. Turtle, seahorse, horseshoe crab, octopus, etc. So fun thank you Cinnamon and John.❤
I started with really basic watercolors during the pandemic. I was teaching elementary school online and creating something gave me so much peace and a space in which I could tune out at times. I am slowly exploring acrylics with your extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful lessons. I’ll continue creating with you for my mental health. Even my husband has started his creative journey recently with watercolors.

I always wished you would do watercolor as well as your acrylics as your such a great teacher. So glad you have included the watercolor. I love watercolor as it doesn't ruin your brushes for one. I love how when you wet an area it just stays where you put the water and color. One big delight is how when you touch a wetted area it just burst with beautiful color in the area always makes me so happy when it happens. Love you and John and all you do.
