At 11:22 when you were sharing like snippets of the scenery it got me thinking about a whole chapter about “the enchanted forest.” just imagining it for a Christmas Eve or even on a Christmas morning idk it feels as if trees of nature could be decorated with ornaments, and the skies could be decorated with flying lanterns, and .. I am just lost at words trying to explain what I imagined😅🥲.

Don't be so hard on yourself! Writing an academic paper is always going to be difficult. When you're writing for pleasure, you don't have someone else's expectations to worry about and it's a lot easier to just let the words flow. Also, quantity does not always equal quality!

I mean, you ARE writing something that most likely doesn't spark interest. It's different when writing about something you WANT to write vs something you are TOLD to and HAVE to write.

You should get a MOUSE for your laptop. I bought one on a whim but I UNDERESTIMATED how much it would help me! It’s made me so much more productive and made my work more ...enjoyable(?) to do and made everything faster, especially with the shortcuts you can customize the buttons with. You don’t need anything fancy, but the ones with the forward and backward buttons for going back and forth between pages and setting a ‘mission control’ button to switch easily between windows has SAVED me so much! High suggest my dude

For fun, I've just worked out I have 87253 words of fanfiction uploaded between fanfic.net and AO3. I love writing so much! I know some people don't think fanfic counts, but it's still a creative outlet and I adore it.

I'd love to see a video where you talk about where you get ideas for writing your stories, like the one you're writing now. Especially ideas that you WANT to write. I wrote a novel when I was 14 and I loved writing it SO much. But since then I've never had another idea for a novel, atleast not one that brings me any joy and I really miss the feeling.

I’ve started working on my novel in July of last year. I’ve currently written about 30 thousand words. I wish I could be as fast a writer as you are. Writing is my favourite thing to do but I rarely ever do it, even when I have some spare time. My sense of insecurity is always hindering me, I’m always scared I will suddenly discover that what I write is not actually good and that I don’t actually have a purpose, that I will have to abandon my one most profound passion and that my life will become empty and grey. But I’m actually getting better at managing my anxiety. I keep on writing, albeit slowly, and a short story of mine has even been published this year, which has been huge for me. So thank you for your videos, Ruby, you truly are an inspiration. I hope one day I will be able to just embrace my passion again and write with abandon without worrying too much. Good luck with your work ❤️

The stuff you said about writing, it’s true for art too. You can tell when art is emotionless. It also is the most authentic and genuine when it comes from emotions, it hijacks your body and flows through you, instead of you forcing yourself to make words or drawings happen

I’d be curious to know how you plan your books ahead! When I get ideas, it’s usually a vague plotline and the reason I rarely execute them is because I don’t plan anything beyond the basic plot. Do you plan chapter by chapter or the whole thing before starting of just sizable chunks? Would love to know!
