I love the image of you as a child, Arne, happily knitting in bed in the dark, with your parents telling you to go to sleep. They never would have guessed that years later you would be world famous for your knitting! Founding Arne and Carlos, with Carlos, in 2001 was a key part of that process. A big hug to that little boy who followed his creative dreams, and, with his partner, makes them come true.
My first sock heel is complete. I’m delighted and in disbelief this wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be…. I didn’t see the extra short instructions until I was already done. Those are great. I am ready to make my first pair of sock in January now. Thank you.
I loved this episode! And you’ve successfully taught a challenged learner how to do short rows and create a sock heel! Arne and Carlos should therefore be nominated for sainthood. The fact that cake is sold with Christmas collector plates in your local thrift shop is fantastic. Arne knitting in the dark makes me laugh! I practice knitting with my eyes closed just in case I have trouble seeing as I get older. I still want to be able to knit! I broke my wrist several years ago and taught myself to knit one handed. I never know what comes in the future and continuing to do what I love will make whatever comes manageable! We have that very plate hanging in our dining room! For many years we collected the annual Yule plate from Denmark. That plate reminds us of the owls that come back every winter and live in the woods behind our home, calling to each other each night. Beautiful!

My parents were in Copenhagen for a time when they worked for the State Department and we have a few of the Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates. They are fun. Arne was right Carlos, the rows were easy to memorise without looking at the pattern. I’ve been quite skilled at that since knitting 24 mini Nordic jumpers, all with a different pattern. 2001 is the answer for the competition.

I have that same 1974 plate. I have my blue plates in a bookcase with my cookbooks. I also used to have them hanging on a wall. Change is good. The Christmas stocking we are making will be for my great granddaughter. When she is older I will tell her the story of knitting each day with Arne and Carlos, who started their brand in 2001. I come across the Royal Copenhagen plates often at our local Goodwill and thrift stores in Saint Paul Minnesota. The prices vary from $1.30 - $2.00 a plate. Using them for cookies is a good idea. Arne and Carlos were founded in 2001.

As I am not a fan of DPNs, I switched to a 16" circular. What a positive difference for me!! I find that my knitting is 2x as fast. Yay! Can't wait to see today's next section.
