Aunt Viv They don’t understand. Just because you crank loud on Southern doesn’t give you a win. I love Rogers Bros for sure, but your 2’s are not all equal. A JSU 2 is not equal to a SU 2 IMO. I think if we’re honest we expect something different from SU than any other SWAC/HBCU band. And I understand that’s the curse of being the best. There was nothing JSU played that matched the musicianship of SU. Okay, So Beautiful was nice but they couldn’t execute it throughout the whole song nor was it written to carry the melody as mentioned in the vid...Why, because an arranger will arrange the music to the bands strength and not expose the weaknesses (simplifying to put it nicely). That doesn’t happen with the Juke. I know SU could kill So Beautiful, but can JSU execute We Can’t Be Friends. Hard to be BIG win lil got you. Overall musicianship at Southern is second to none.
