What to buy when you visit our beautiful island? Well it's NOT an Aran sweater- this is 2019!
My recommendations especially for the Americans include Claddagh rings, Penneys facemasks and Butlers chocolate.

Some things I brought back from my trip to Ireland with my husband: 1. A Celtic knot necklace with Connemara marble in it 2. A scarf from the Book of Kells exhibit gift shop (what can I say, I love scarves) 3. A silver Christmas ornament of Ashford Castle, where we stayed one night as our big splurge 4. Socks for my husband featuring a Celtic knot (he loves socks) 5. An Irish flat cap for my husband

My wife and I were in Dublin in June. We followed your previous suggestions and had a lovely time. When I was in Saigon Vietnam (as a tourist, in 2003, I'm not old enough for the war) I found an Irish pub (Sheridan's Irish House) and drank a Guinness. While in Dublin, I found a Vietnamese restaurant (Pho Viet) and drank a Saigon beer. (Isn't Canadian multi-culturalism fun)

My Granny had always wanted to do Croagh Patrick (massively religious Derry woman). So we did it when I was about 16 which was lets just say YONKS ago… While doing it we made a stop in Connemara. So gorgeous there and I got the most beautiful Connemara marble heart on a gold chain. I still have it,. Would totally recommend Connemara marble as a souvenir. I recommend to go around Ireland not just in Dublin, trust me you'll get a much better experience especially when your in the countryside.
@LindaC616
@LindaC616 4 года назад
@@hazerdxhd4373 I agree with that wholeheartedly! Before I'd been to Dublin, a colleague told me a couple of days in Dublin would be enough. A year or 2 later, I found myself there unexpectedly with 5 days free. I don't drink whiskey, I don't drink Guiness, 5 days was more than enough. But I did get to go see New Grange, so that was something interesting, and that included the Hill of Tara- very beautiful. If you start in the west by flying into Shannon, you might save money on airdarw, as well, depending on where you're from.
@hazerdxhd4373
@hazerdxhd4373 4 года назад
@@LindaC616Yeah thats true flying into Shannon airport would be great if you want to explore the countryside and small towns around Ireland. Dublin is very different in my opinion then the rest of Ireland, its so big with many tourists in the city centre, it would be brilliant for a few days but people need to see the rest if Ireland because it would interest alot of people seeing very different culture, it would be fascinating for many tourists. Hope you had a good time in Ireland!
@LindaC616
@LindaC616 4 года назад
@@hazerdxhd4373 Oh, I've loved it! Haven't seen the north or Wicklow yet, though. Galway several times, Limerick once, Dublin/Holy Cross, up around Westport, Kyle.oor Abbey and Cong, Ring of Kerry tour, the Cliffs of Moher, and a tour of County Clare and the Loophead with Fadder Mike (is there any other way!?). The last time, I made it to Inish Mor, and had to go back to the Inagh valley, because I saw that with some friends on my first trip, and it was so damned beautiful I wanted to go back.

I had a grandmother who kept a shillelagh by the door, for the purpose of applying it to an intruder's head with great force. Is this the same basic idea? We have several claddagh rings, and a beautiful set of Irish Crystal Water Glasses. If we should be fortunate to visit Ireland any time in the future, we will already have some of the weightier items on your list, the Crystal being the heaviest. The one thing that is of the greatest value would be meeting more people who are as charming as you.

Twice a year, St. Patty’s Day and Rose of Tralee, QVC has for years brought in Irish vendors and we can get Waterford crystal and Claddagh rings and all kinds of beautiful items, even the perfume Innish. But we have Irish stores here too and we can get Waterford crystal in department stores, along with whiskey. So for those of us not going to Ireland 🇮🇪 we can always pick up some of these beautiful items. The Irish vendors on QVC always give us a little history along with the product. When I lived in Ireland for a semester in college, I bought meself a Hanna flat cap (so comfy on a chilly day!) and 2-litre bottles of cider (like Devil's Bit). In the states of course, we call it hard cider, because regular cider is simply spiced non-alcoholic apple juice. There are no 2-litre bottles of hard cider in the states, none that I've ever found.
