440 Chrysler because they were reliable and basically nothing could beat them stock vs stock... Sure modified small blocks or other modified big blocks etc could run with them, but modify the 440 and see ya later!! My buddies 1973 360 Satellite could run right beside me,he had a cam/heads 3.91 vs my 3.23's.. Yes they are reliable,I daily drove 440 car's from the 80's to early 2000's and did 90 miles round trip daily! In the 80's I bought a 1 owner 1971 Charger SE 440 Magnum with 160,000 original miles and looked and ran perfect,I put another 100,000 miles on it before I touched the engine!

YEARS AGO, I was getting gas when a car pulled up to the pump. It wasnt any flashy sports model. An olds as I recollect. 1984. But it looked brand new. An older guy got out & I told him what a sharp looking 4 door that was and he said 'Yeah, I just got it back. I had a shop do a total frame off restoration'. I told him they sure did a nice job & he agreed. He said he used to work on his own cars but these new computerized emission cars are more than he can handle. And so much plastic. So, he searched till he found this one, had the shop rebuild it and it is now his daily driver which he will now maintain & repair himself. Makes total sense. And for less $$$ than a new one too. !

'68 black Mustang and '78 El Camino are my favorites of these great driver finds. My favorite muscle engine is the Chevy big block 427. I had the 390 horse version in a '69 Vette and the marine Mercruiser 427 transplanted into an '87 rat rod S10. Durable, trouble-free gas hogs during combined 23 years of driving (other than keeping them COOL in stop/go traffic).

I remember as a kid having a friend whose family was richer than ours, owning a Cadillac like the one in this video. It had power windows, of course, and I thought at the time it was such a rich feature but then again, why? Who can't roll up and down a window with very little effort? But now a days, all cars seem to have them and it isn't such a "rich" feature like it was then. To your question, I'd say the small block Chevy because it was a great engineering feat to get so much power out of such a small engine. At the stock car races in Cleveland, they were real popular.

the best Pre-1980 Muscle Motor is hands down the SBC 350 and it's not even close. Was it the biggest? No, Was the most powerful? No, then was is it the best? It's cost effectiveness, GM built 10's of millions of them starting in 1957 and still build them today, They have good power the 1970 350 put out 350 Hp (Officially, but we all know it was more than that), that's 1 for 1 in CI to HP and they are CHEAP to build, they give you the most bang for your buck, there's a reason all the Hot Ford guys put a SBC 350 in their cars....... Having a Classic Daily Driver is the ONLY way to go in my opinion, ayes your Honda Accord or Kia Sorrento may get better gas mileage, have better suspension and handle better but my Classic is more fun to drive and makes me smile, Your Mitsubishi Mirage doesn't make you smile plus I'm not paying $1200 a month just to drive to work.......

And by the way, look up official HP rating for a 1970 LT-1 350 and see what you find. Also, the 348 was introduced in 1958 and available until 1961. Along with its big Brother the 409.

As a hot rod mechanic, I’ll take a 351 Cleveland motor over any Chevy motor. Chevy’s were only popular because they were always the cheapest cars that GM manufactured. After 70,000 those Chevy motors were dead. I installed 3 of the 351 Cleveland motors in 2 chevelle’s and 1 Nova. No customer complaints in past 8 years!

i swear i will never understand these outrageous prices for any old car pre 84 as a old school car guy born in 65 who has owned every thing from k5 4x4 to muscle cars growing up a car guy could buy one ( good running ) for around 2000k to 4500k now the same cars nearly 40 years later cost 40k to 300k even a piece of crap 1984 4 door ford ltd no one wanted back in the day will cost 8500 a rusted out chassis will cost 8k why ? and a bank with good interest rates will not even think about a loan for one so the average gear head is out of luck why ? so mister money bags think they look cool SITTING IN THEIR COLLECTION and then there is people with classics just sitting outside or in a old building not touched in 30 years it makes me sick

I love you're videos Honest . But most of the people asking price of best offer is way over the price limit they are worth. The Ford Galaxy is worth not more then 2000. The Corvair is about 2000. the 67 Syang again is worth no more then 2000.Most of the cars are way over priced . There is no deal when you have to spend so much on them. I not only own many but I also use to repo . Most of the cares are for sale for a simple reason they can't afford to keep them. Again, I love all you're Videos But so many are asking well over their price range. Let's be honest you don't ask 5000 for a car or truck worth 500. Not everyone is that dumb. The listing price shows people do believe they are that dumb. I bought a 19 60 GMC Step side mint running condition with a need for a cab corner fix for 350.

I would agree on some of these, but the "Or Best Offer" might be right for someone who is good at negotiating or trading!

@@Americanrodshop I agree with you there but most have grown use to what we call the tire kickers
