I have had one of those Lorus titanium watches for 15 years or so, I am a retired tech teacher so it got lots of abuse. They get nicer with age, the sharp edges and sandblast finish wear to a smooth dull polish but with no visible scratches, the get nicer with wear. They're so light you can hardly feel them and if you wear nice shirts they are slim enough to slip under the cuff without fraying them. So far I have bought 4 of the buggers; a spare for me when I thought I had lost mine and two for the kids. If they put a solar movement in them they would be perfect.
I have titanium Lorus, Phoibos and Zelos. In my opinion steel is better as is more durable, easier to work with so you get better finishing for the money and easier to repair damages. I'd rather have a stainless polished/brushed watch with the same metal characteristics in the core than a watch protected by thin coatings
I hear you. Good designs. Too bad their movements are crap. Mine lasted a month. Was replaced under warranty. Lasted 2 months the second time. Didn't bother returning it further.
I think you should have included Boderry in your list. They have a diver and field watch in titanium that are both great watches for aroud $150 and $100 respectively. I have one of each and love them. Great video though. Loved your video on the bronze watches. It was great to see some love for Glycine. I have three and they are great watches. One is a bronze watch.
@@TopTierTicker I did consider the white lumed dial option, but opted for the black dial with white hands & numbers. Only the hands are lumed. If the numbers were lumed too, it would be next level, but for £90 it'd be pushing my luck. It's got perfect dimensions for my twig wrist too...38mm diameter / 45mm lug to lug & only 10mm thick (18mm lug width).
I like that RZE GMT and the Citizen pilot looks good too. I'd probably go for the Lorus though because I like a bargain.....and I'm a tight arse! 😊 Great selection of watches here, thanks mate👍
An interesting video about Titanium watches. I have two of the Lorus Titanium field watches of both the beige coloured dial and a military green dial version the green version however is brushed Titanium. I also have the Lorus version of the Alba one you showed but that is stainless steel. I paid £60,99 each for the two Lorus Titanium watches but only £29.99 for the Lorus stainless steel watch. Great value for money watches which I wear often.
Personally I prefer a nice 200 gram plus dive watch, I do have a titanium dive watch on a two piece NATO which I wear exclusively when it's hot and sticky, it is more comfortable in those conditions than anything on a bracelet but I'm not a fan of it's lack of weight. I believe it to be grade 3 titanium, this is a tool watch and it's my understanding that grade 3 titanium has better anti corrosion properties, I've had it for a couple of years and it has stayed scratch free although I wear it less than other watches in my collection. If you prefer a lightweight watch then titanium is definitely something you should investigate.
Notice the ads don't show the Citizen ticking. I own one, and the hands do not line up to the indices. I tried to have Citizen fix the problem, but they couldn't be bothered.

4:31 you should never use magnetic straps with mechanical watches unless its an anti-magnetic case. Learn from my mistakes. I did this and my seiko mm200 had to be de demagnetized after it started to run slow. That strap went right in the trash. 😂
@@TopTierTickermost modern mechanical watches claim to be (and to some point are) anti-magnetic, including my mm200. The typical sellita or eta powered watch will definitely become magnetized. The magnetic field from a neodymium can magnetize those movements. I make a conscious decision to keep most of my mechanical timepieces away from magnets. Whether its my omega speedmaster sapphire sandwich or my inexpensive skx.

The list is misleading. Ultrahex on the RZE is marketing BS. Anyone that has actually owned one will tell you that unless you're careful the back of the watch will get scratched to hell. And regarding the Victorinox - it does not wear as big as the narrator would suggest due to the bezel size and shape.
So here’s the problem with titanium… If it doesn’t have a hardened coating on it, it’s scratches extremely easily, and looks like crap after a short period of time… That is, unless it’s grade 5 titanium, which is not found in budget or inexpensive watches.
Yeah, I try to mention the grade of titanium in the video, and if the watch has a hardness coating. But yeah, untreated, low grade titanium sucks for durability

Yep! I picked my original one up for £20 from argos couple years back. Now they are like £70 brand new. And the older discontinued ones are super hard to find.
@@TopTierTicker sorry for saying so but you lucky bastard! That and bc Lorus is a UK subsidiary, shipping on eBay is (what I think to be) an exorbitant $35! Even the stainless steel full lume ones went for $40 originally but cost a ton now
It's readily available here in England. It might be worth importing one if you cannot find it. I believe that Lorus is British subsidiary of Seiko, so it might be super hard to find one elsewhere. Maybe try looking for the Alba?
