Good video, titanium is a great case material. I love my Citizen titanium Eco-Drive perpetual calendar. 12 years old, wore it daily for 5 years, still looks and runs like new. Fantastic value. The Longines Avigation BigEye chronograph looks awesome.

Back in the day in the early 80s, Citizen tried to go high end and sold an eco drive titanium dive watch and strap with a high end metal (no plastic) and jewel movement for RRP $600. It was not popular and I picked one up for $350 on sale. I replaced the rotary dial with an 18k gold ring and it still is a good watch today. Lightweight, no scratches, strap fits perfectly with no wear sloppiness. Aged better than a stainless steel Rolex from that time.

Thank you for this! Titanium watches are amazing. They're refreshingly lightweight, and I personally love the way they age. The scuffs give them character. Plus, I work in the titanium industry and it's a very appealing material to my eye. The leaden gray color is wonderful.

Something to take into account when shopping for titanium watches is the titanium grade. Grade 5 is much more scratch resistant than grade 2. Grade 2 is actually more scratch prone than stainless steel.....Looking at you tudor pelagos
@hyssean12
@hyssean12 2 года назад
Titanium is always softer than 316. This will scratch easier. Teddy is wrong. Titanium is always soft compared to 316/904. Google the HRC of titanium and steel.

Bought the Mido Ocean Star 200c Titanium...honestly... the best buy ever... such a nice watch, with the dial, the 80 Hour power reserve movement, and running +1s/ day... I am deeply impressed. Bought it for an everyday solution and don't regret it at all... the black dial with the "waves" in it and the titanium bracelet is so beautiful. Very comfortable to wear, and thanks to the titanium very light too. I honestly think that it is one of the best Value for Money watches. I was looking for a good titanium and the 200c looks a bit different than the one you mentioned but when I googled the one you showcased here the 200c showed up and I was all fire from the first second I saw it :-), so thanks for inspiring me!

If your not totally against Quartz, I love my Casio Oceanus OCW-S100. Titanium case and bracelet, sapphire, 100M water resistance, solar Quartz that can instantly set to different time zones, and is radio controlled with perpetual calendar. It’s always spot on accuracy, well made and finished. Not easy to get in the US, but for $500 it’s my go to daily wear. The only downfall is the integrated bracelet….

My daily wear watch is a Tudor Pelagos in blue. I have JLC’s, Rolex, IWC’s, and many other Swiss, German and Seiko’s watches, but the Pelagos is my favorite, due in part to the fact it keeps such outstanding time. I wore Ti Citizen watches for a couple of decades, before becoming interested in mechanical watches, and still have a soft spot for them. Initially bought Ti because I THOUGHT stainless steel bracelets were stretching out of shape on me, and thought Ti would solve that. Turns out, it was just the CHEAP folded stainless bracelets on cheap watches that were my issue. Silly, and cheap, me. :) That being said, I do like the strength and weight of Ti, and have a Zelos arriving in the mail today! Can't wait to slip it on the wrist.

Titanium grade 2 to titanium grade 5 is like 24k gold to 18k gold. Grade 2 is for the most part "pure", grade 5 is an alloy. Grade 2 has some superior applications compared to 5, and vice versa. If you want a polished titanium, 5 is your best bet. If you want the "pure" titanium experience, grade 2. Have had both in watches (and engineering applications, but I digress...) and haven't noticed a difference in the non-polished finishes over time.

The microbrand Boldr makes some very nice titanium watches. I had a mechaquartz chronograph of theirs last year, and it was light, comfortable and had a sharp design (similar to the squared-off Zenith style.) Unfortunately I ended up selling it because I bought it as a watch to use at work, and the size was just too small (38mm case w/ a very small face to have all that chrono stuff crammed into it.) If you're just looking for style, however, you could do a lot worse.

I have 4 titanium watches and I've decided its not straightforward stuff - you've got to do a bit more research on coatings or proprietary hardening tech before you buy. Theres 2 Citizens (a blue gmt diver and a promaster tough Ray Mears jobbie - ace watch that one). You could take an angle grinder to either of those and they would just laugh at you. On the other hand my Cetina DS and Tudor Pelagos mark if you give them a funny look. Love that Longines BigEye btw, any chance of a half price sale...? 🙂

Great video thank you. When talking about titanium a lot of us fans also are curious about weight and type of titanium 😂 The Longines eg has the more expensive type without you see it in the price 😊
