I have many EDC knives. My favourite for utility, durability, and convenience? The first lock blade I ever bought back in the early 70's, a Buck 110 Folding Hunter. I still have it today. Nothing has worn out, nothing has broken, and the lock has never failed. I've used it for everything from a knife to a light weight pry bar to a light weight hammer. It has been thoroughly abused. Other knives are lighter, prettier, less conspicuous, sharper, and on and on. But the original Buck knife can't be beat for simplicity, strength, and shear reliability. And in the end, that's what I want; a knife that works, first time, every time.
My Sasche broke. It wouldn't lock open and wouldn't close, and the button was sticking out at a weird angle. I contacted Sencut warranty service, sent the knife to them, and they are replacing the knife. Since they are replacing not repairing, it was obviously a ctrastrophic failure, but it's good to know they DO back up their product. I'm sure this was a one off issue, and most other Sache's will be fine. Just wanted to point out their good customer service regarding their warranty.
Good to know. My Sachse has been stellar so far, especially considering how much I've fidgeted with it. I've done spine whack tests and everything is rock solid on it, but it's good to know that they stand by their quality.
funfact, if you want your dropbear blade in the escort handle, that works drop in. (otherway round not, mechanism and lock works, but edge gets contact when in, and blade is to long for the bear handle, so the tip points out :D) (presumably, the Kizer Task blade is also interchangeable, but there could be some spacerstuds in the way, but i don't have that one)
I really like the Kizer Tower S action awesome multi roll bearings. This is the poor man's F5.5 or budget F5.5 😂 I have TI and micarta F5.5 they are very similar visually that's it though lol...Tower S is a lil thick handles. I love both knives 🤙💯🔥
I bought an actual damned designs knife like a day before the mad tanto dropped and I always get butthurt when I see the mad tanto cuz I wish I got that instead😢
@austenhatch3285 Don't feel bad man. So many times we've all bought a knife and then either it goes on sale (after the fact) 🙄 or another model/version drops, it never fails!
I’ve seen many many knives but I think “KIZER” absolutely hits it out of the park with not only action but their “ Micarta” is outstanding , patina’s incredibly and looks amazing before and after! Their button locks are “ehhh” but build quality is spot on. I may attempt to buy the mad Tanto because of your and Metal Complex’s recommendations. I’ve had serious issues with button locks unintentionally deploying during usage….but I’m hyped about the “Mad tanto”! I wouldn’t recommend the Kizer assassin because of the aforementioned issue, even though the micarta did patina splendidly. Its detent was sticky and the button lock sucked! I also had issues with a few civivi, button locks… if it’s inset like the mad tanto it might be better, the ones I had issues with are buttons that stick out above the scale height.
I like how Jared does high end knives but half his stuff is budget focused for people like me. One suggestion. Little more focus on crazy cheap blades like under 30. Just sayin your one of my fave utube creators!
My Mad Tanto is one of my favorite knives. Amazing action on it. The only knife I own with better ergos is my PM2. So comfortable in hand with the excellent micarta. And that sexy grind....
After having the elementum as my first knife, and then buying many others, and giving my wife my elementum, and picking it back up to check out, I do not like it, but this is the 2 yrs ago model. The handle frame is too thin and when you squeeze the handle, you can feel it bend. The G10 is too thin, so where the line lock moves away from the handle when the blade is out, the stiffness really drops.
I had the original elemwntum in D2/G10 and I never saw the hype with it. Mine didn't have great action either, as probably 60% of the time when I'd pick it up to flick it open it wouldn't open all the way. It's possible I could've just tweaked it and made it better, but I figured out of the box it should at least open correctly.
Great video Jerad! Some real solid picks on there, it would be tough to argue that list, even though there are so many great budget edc knives out there today! Awesome job as usual with describing all the attributes and fractures with each knife.
I wanted that Toxic Storm version when it came out cuz I love that color scheme with that black stonewash 20cv blade, and the Arctic Storm Fat Carbon w/ Elmax was also appealing, but I didn't have the $$ at the time! Now I really want the Lc200n titanium version! Lol
@@mikerollins3088 I almost bought the Titanium LC200N version instead lol I love the look of both carbon versions and the LC200N, but Toxic Storm and 20CV won out. After getting it, I love the knife (in my pocket today), and I can definitely see me picking up the other premium versions. Really wish I could swing the $500 10th anniversary Damascus/Westinghouse edition!!!
@wgkincheloe2458 We all wish we could afford it! They haven't released them yet, but apparently they had 3 of them made for Blade Show and a guy in our Kizer group got number 000!
Have you checked out Kubey? Not your typical Chinese manufacturer... these guys actually take pride in their work. I think you'd like their inventory. Personally I have the Elang... it's got good crisp action, a nice heft with the feel of good build quality, actual micarta scales... the steel may not be the highest quality available (honestly I don't know about steel grades, so I couldn't say) but I know enough from experience that I can tell you the blade will hold up to what I needed to. It is pretty thick (as thick as fixed blade knives you'd belay kindling with) so a bit harder to put an edge on it, but it seems like it'll hold an edge a little longer than most thinner blades so pro's and cons I guess. It is on the bigger end, but it's also not their only knife. It was stupid inexpensive for the build quality and the amount of knife you get at only $45 USD from their US outlet (eBay). Anyways, if you haven't checked them out, I get the hesitation, but I think they may be worth a gander.
Probably the minority on this, but I much prefer the black micarta on the escort compared the aluminum. Feels super cheap, and less comfortable in hand. 🤷🏾♂️
Caps Lock is a button on a computer keyboard that causes all letters of Latin and Cyrillic based scripts to be generated in capital letters. It is a toggle key: each press reverses the previous action.
I'm a female looking for a little extra protection in a knife I can carry in my front pocket and deploy quickly. Could you do a show on that topic? I appreciate your videos. Soooo many groovy knives....
I will see what I can put together, something with a wave feature would be the fastest, next would be a flipper or auto, however the best will always be a fixed blade are you able to carry that inside the front waist, also depending on your pockets will be a huge factor because a lot of lady pockets are very small but I know some are full size so knowing that will help decide
@@NeevesKnives I often wear guys jeans because of pocket sizes. I tried to be more dignified and cary a purse but I just end up leaving it somewhere lol. So I am a minimal carry. If it doesn't fit in my pockets I don't need it. I rarely wear women's clothing with small pockets. It's a pain that they are sooo small. I have to make a 3 hour drive to help with my mom and I want a knife that I can take on the drive. Obviously I'm not a girly girl and I don't make an easy target but I'm almost 60 so I can't count on mean looks forever. 😅
How the hell is everyone's raccoon nice and somehow I got a shitty one? The pivot on mine is far from smooth, and the lock is stiff and sticky, even after adjusting it to the lightest setting, oiling and polishing and cleaning everything. No matter what I do, it just doesn't wanna run smooth.
I think your talking about the Qubit it's 65$ and yes as far as lightweight edc knives go I've carried it more than alot of others for sure especially in summer time
J-Rad always bringing the content I want and need!! 👊🏻🤜🏻💨 Vosteed Raccoon … have it, and agree it’s a good one. Kizer Lieb M … don’t have it, but want the smaller version, and agree that Kizer micarta is primo. Kizer Mad Tanto … don’t have it, like that drop tanto blade. CIVIVI Qubit … have it, love all things WE CIVIVI Sencut, agree with your assessment. Kizer Towser S … I have the Towser K, love the blade on it, it’s a badass finger flayer. Kizer Escort … don’t have it, I like it. Kizer Drop Bear … have it, it’s great. Sencut Serene … have it, WE fanboy. CIVIVI Elementum Button Lock … of course I do (several versions), perfection. CJRB Ekko… ordered it just the other day as a matter of fact, along with the Miguron Moyarl, and Sencut Bronte (that you recommended). CJRB Pyrite … I’ve got the sheepsfoot alt version, love it. Why all that you say? People want to know (at least in my mind they do). Solid list as always, brother!
Dude...man... I am going to go broke (somewhat) with these super awesome budget kinves! Or should I just buy one super duper knife. Hmmm... Either way I can't seem to stop myself from buying EDC knives. Well I guess it is better than buying illicit substances.
@@Joshua-lx4ckYup! I actually started out buying Civivi knives and then started purchasing Kizers! They both have great designs, awesome action, quality craftsmanship, and most ppl would be happy having either.
Was wondering if you have done a review or at least heard of the Kershaw Emerson. That's what I carry to work because it's cheap but I was wondering what your opinion of it is. I work on an oilfield rig and it seems to be holding up pretty good.
The only thing that I have against CJRB is their buttons. No matter what color(s) the rest of the knife is, including the pocket clip, thumbstud, and hardware, the button WILL be silver! I am one of those "tacti-cringe" knife collectors who happens to like blacked out knives, and it drives my OCD absolutely nuts! Shame, too, as I love the Pyrite Alt and would get a couple of them, an Ekko, and a Frack if my brain would STFU long enough for me to be able to enjoy them.
The Praxis is a great model even as a mini however i do prefer the large but thats just me, i think you did well, the Natrix is really cool also I've had the mini and full size both were great.
No Miguron mentioned? Why is that?! The Velona is at least as good as the Vosteed and nearly the same price............and fit / finish is usually better than any of these knives you listed!
I like your videos. Very helpful but slow down. Making me car sick. You open and close and twist and turn the knife to much. Slow the movement down and less of it.
I handle most knives that are released I'm basing things off quality, steel, heat treatments, tolerance, action, etc... I coulda thrown a dozen decent knives up there but I'd still recommend these first, of course I could make a whole new list that's just as good
Jared, I did have a question, is the premium “Kizer drop bear” ( LC200N w/ titanium scales) worth the price?…I do like the “non rust & toughness factor” though.
You are really stretching! What is it with you and 14c28n? “Formulated for thin profile?” Yea,.. it came on the scene in the 1950s for Wilkinson Sword Razor blades. You got two shaves out of them then threw the blade away and got a new one. Are your Subscribers all 13 years old?
Aebl was the steel designed for razors, 14c28n comes from that steel, and I've tested it thoroughly it's a fantastic steel. You can watch controlled edge retention tests I've done, I'm pretty sure I have one on 14c28n
@@NeevesKnives if you did it filed because 14c28n is junk. You know it. Knife nerds reports it. It’s cheap to produce Fidget Toys With and you care more about being in the CIvivi pipeline than your subscribers.
So the whole title of the video and his very first statement at the beginning of the video where he said “top tier AFFORDABLE BUDGET options” was completely lost on you then?
