Thanks Freddie (This is Jim)...did you notice that Ann didn’t even mention the cool names I came up with? (Quilt-O-Matic 3000, The Honey Bumper etc?) Wait till the Mini-Quilter takes the Pottery Market by storm and I’m flying my own jet! 🤩
Jim, could it just be forgetfulness? Besides I thought you were the director and producer of these videos so you could include the names with text. Please correct me if I am wrong as I might tend to do that. Always a treat to watch!
way back in the early 1970s, i was in high school and i made a weed pot to which i added some small clay mounds/buttons which had things like nuts and phillips screw heads pressed into them, then "glued" them to the weed pot with slip. they were maybe 3/4 to one inch across and maybe 1/8th to 3/8ths thickness. it looked pretty cool when done...kind of like little mushroom heads or smooth barnacles. the top of the pot was covered with little tubular spouts, and guys in my art class said my pot looked like a distributer cap. i still have it, although it's living in a packing box in the basement at the moment. *:-)*
Wow, that sound so creative. I was sure we werent the first to do texture from hardware, haha. I hope you are still playing in the clay. Happy potting!!!
@@annruel9142 : i liked your ideas. have you ever tried getting texture from pressing stiff fabrics on to clay? i haven't done any pottery in years, but i think about it now and then. it's a matter of finding somewhere to do it that is affordable for me as i am retired and on a fixed income. take care!
@@nowvoyagerNE That is an interesting idea . I havent tried stiff fabrics, but will be on the lookout. I hope you find a nice pottery class near you. Sounds like you would have a lot of fun doing it.
@@annruel9142 : i think making pottery would be fun too. i never mastered the potter's wheel. by stiff textured fabrics i am thinking of burlaps, perhaps reptile patterns, upholstery fabrics. i googled "stiff textured fabrics" and got a couple of ideas. there are also woven grasses and reeds such made into flexible things such as placemats that might work to texturize clay. ooohh! bamboo! but i am trying to sing to the choir here, as you are the master and i am a mere grasshopper. lol.
@@nowvoyagerNE Those are great ideas! Im experimenting like everyone else. That is always the fun part, right. Sounds like you need to get to a pottery class and do some exploring :-)
Such great ideas. I just made the hanging garden ornament that you made the one you blow in to. I’m stuck on how to decorate it now as I’m not a good free hand drawer. Your work is excellent and so beautiful. I love your channel keep up the lovely job that you and Jim do. 😊❤
Ann you amaze me. You’re a born teacher. I realize I’m not a potter but your design elements intrigued me and I watched every minute of your presentation and learned a lot. And, yes, one did look like basketweaving!
I know you are the queen of basket weaves, Earlene. I am so glad you enjoyed the video! They are fun to experiment with. It is like a treasure hunt finding new ways to enhance your work. You are so sweet!! Thanks so much Earlene!!!
Good idea Dena. Well I like to paint in the open areas. That is my signature move :-). Most these mugs have a good foot so glaze will hopefully not run over the boundaries
@@LittleStreetPottery ohh wow that is kind!! Can you please also make a tutorial how you can make crazy other decoration's can make on clay? Love and kisses from the Netherlands
Might be too old now and you might not have these mugs anymore but it would've been cool if you showed the finished product e.g fired and glazed so we can see how the glaze took to the textures.
You can drop a question here (as long as its pottery related and not already explained in the video description) - that way the community benefits from the conversation. Thanks.
