Definitely DO NOT spray IPA or any other cleaning agent onto the rods, spray onto a cloth and then wipe. Spraying in the enclosure results in covering the belts (rubber and alcohol don't mix, will dry out and crack), covering the linear Y rods and removing all the grease from inside which you can't repack, spraying onto the rods is terrible advice unfortunately. Follow Bambu's maintenance guides to prevent damaging your machine. Also probably best not to use oil on the lead screws, oil can run down the screw and into the stepper motor below (very bad), again there is a reason why Bambu specify grease and not oil 😵‍💫

Yeah, there's a lot of bad advice in this video. Clearly not made by someone who knows how it's supposed to be done. Also... using compressed air to clean a machine? Really not done. This will only blow dirt into the small crevices, making the risk of jams bigger.

To be fair, the official rod cleaning video published by Bambu Lab's youtube channel had them spraying alcohol on the rods. Not that I'd ever think or want to pour isopropyl into a spray bottle.

1) Wait wait wait. you purposely got out all the grease from the Y axis bearings by whiping the rods and than moving it untill bearings are completely dry???!!! hahahaha what a dumb thing to do. Runing bearings dry on carbon is just calling for fast Bambu lab store for replacement. As a mechanical engineer, i cannot advise NOT TO DO THAT enough. 2) Never spray Isopropanol like that, it will stiffen the belts if it gets on them, and they will crumble like a cookie. Another Bambu store trip 3) Use grease not oil. Oil tends to solidify leaving you with crap. Especialy if you use the wrong one. Use grease instead (make usre it can handle the temps and its good if its rated for rails and screws) Youtub would need a missinformation popup like twitter. RU-vid is more and more filled with bad advice

You left out one thing, especially if printing with ABS: Use some glass cleaner on the inside of the door and the underside of the glass top. The gasses from ABS will attract dust and grime and fog them up if not cleaned -- just like what you get on the inside of your car's windshield.

You forgot the most important thing, in my opinion. Check the tubes, all the tubes. They do wear down and guess where all the debris and dust ends. X1 is known for clogging and I am pretty sure PTFE dust and debris is a bad thing. There are examples, that the filament has completely worn through the tube. Bambu recommend check after each 10 kg or 5 kg if you use abrasive filament. If you suddenly get under extrusion, check your tubes and replace if necessary. Bambu Wiki has a good guide howto. TIP: Using compressed air is always, the first thing you do during maintenance. Just cleaned and oiled, no reason to blow dust to the oily things.

I am interested in your extruder component with the clear (PC?) plastic, mine is 100% opaque. Was the translucent version an older model or an aftermarket part? I recently clogged a .4 CHT nozzle because I had it doing very rapid repeated retractions on the first few layers of the Open Ball vise when I printed the ball upside-down; I think the translucent extruder body could have helped me see what was going on to diagnose the issue

It's best practice to hold fans still with one hand and use compressed air with the other. This will reduce wear on the bearings and prevent a dynamo effect from putting electricity back through the system.

Hello. I have 1 question about Bambu Studios - maybe you will be able to help me. I was trying to add a simple, plain circle to Bambu Studios to print a coin but in bugger size (10cm diameter). And when I upload the .svg file to Slicer I can see that the edge of the coin is not fully rounded - you can see the small walls that make up the circle. I tried uploading few different circle .svg files that are 100% circles and in Bambiu Slicer the walls & small edges appear. The question is: Is this normal that the Slicer shows these walls and not fully plain edge of the circle - but it will print it as a plain circle? Or should I do some editing within the slicer to make it disappear? Sorry to ask, my printer will come in a month from now and Im already trying to get some first models done and learn some about Bambu Slicer. Thank you in advance and Happy New Year! :)

@LordNerfherder

A lot of malpractices. Go to bambu and follow their instructionsninstead. Spraying the air into the fans causes swift rotation and this makes the fan into a generator of electricity which can hurt the printer. Lightly hold the fan while blowing them clear and dont tilt the bottle - more ice sprays out if you do. After - let condensation evaporate for a while before starting the machine. Else you have just short circuited the circuits hit by condensated water. Do not blindly spray ipa into the machine while cleaning the rods. And dont move the gantrybefore wiping the rods. You just push around the much that you loosened up with the ipa. The ams has so long wires that you can just spin the printer 90 degrees and place ams next to the printer. Honestly just following bambus best practices is recommended so just linking them is wiser than just speedrunning. For example the belt tension is definately a go to bambu thing. This isnt really all the details omitted or wrong, so for reference of standars maintenance - always check bambu instructions first. Not some dude on the internet spraying some ipa all over the printer and saying its now fine.

Couple things: Your link to the alcohol takes you to a 91% - not 99%. And where do you find the self check on a P1P? I've looked and don't see it, unless I'm just missing it. :( Otherwise, thank you for this awesome video! I was just thinking about maintenance for my P1P. Still very new to the hobby and I want to take care of this thing like it's gold! :)

On the Bambu Handy app, on the first screen you go to the three stripe menu in the upper right corner, then Machine Assistant, and then the Magnifying glass with heartbeat kind of icon in the upper right corner. On the printer it's in the third menu (so the settings), on 2nd page under calibration. In BambuSlicer it's on the device tab, top right option for Calibration.

I found on the Bambu lab wiki they mentioned some brand of grease instead oil or Super Lube 92003 Silicone Lubricating Grease with PTFE as an alternative but no oil for the vertical screws.
@phila8226

Same question: Bambu recommends a grease and the video says oil. There is a difference!
@IndianaDiy
@IndianaDiy 29 дней назад
@@phila8226 grease works better in my opinion. Read Bambu maintenance page. I use super lube silicone lubricating grease for z rods and multi use synthetic oil for top metal rods and oil rollers for belts carefully.

Could I leave the printer on, wipe the rods with IPA, and move the print head side to side with the menu on the printer?
@TheEdgeofTech
@TheEdgeofTech Год назад
I guess you could, but if you spray the IPA, and hit the electronics, you may have issues. Since you are working on the belt tension as well, the printer won't move good if you loosen the tensioners first. That's why they say to move them by hand.

I see the fiament cutter arm has broken on that printer too (it's not supposed to be black so he has replaced it), seems to be a problem with the printer. If he hasn't made a video of how to replace that thing, it could be a good idea. Mine hasn't broken, luckily. But I don't often print multicolored prints, I only got the AMS for convenience.
@TheEdgeofTech
@TheEdgeofTech Год назад
Actually that's not the case. It's never broken. This printer was my first one last May. It was from the first batch they did before the main production run. So some of the parts are a different color, like the clear extruder. :)

Put a very thin layer of IPA? I am watching this video to learn how to do maintenance on my Bambu Carbon x1- How am I suppose to know what IPA is?

It stands for isopropyl alcohol. Don't use it on any of the camera/LIDAR lenses, though. It can remove their protective coatings.

Spray the paper towel with isopropenol do not spray directly in the printer. you get some on the belts overtime it will weaken them and cracks can form

The lighting makes it look like you've greenscreened in the printer. :D A real question: am I right in assuming that the cutter is used once per print job if the whole job is from a single spool? So that a non-AMS user basically has 3,000-ish prints (and new spools) before the cutter is likely to be wearing?
