Michael this is what sets you apart from other VC channels is that you introduce us to other music that we normally are not aware of it. Most other VC channels when they do there best of favorite albums for the year they almost always show and talk about records from MOFI, BLUE NOTE, ANALOGUE PRODUCTION, even though almost whatever these record labels put out they are always great but they are reissues for the most part. We all know that these are fantastic records to own. Again thank you for your diversity in showing and talking about different styles of music . Just fantastic.

Nice eclectic mix there Michael, I too loved the Gods Speed release, although it doesn’t figure in the following:- In no particular order: Momokultur - Ormens Vag Urdog - Long Shadows 2003-2006 Firefriend - Dead Icons Smote - Drommon Sei Still - El Refugio Keep the videos coming, I enjoy them very much.

Well, what an educational video. I only knew two of the artist mentioned on your list. I am always informed by watching your videos and the thought you put into them. It certainly opens me up to music I have never heard or would listen to. I only watched this yesterday afternoon & later in the evening ,I managed to find two John Grant 2nd hand cd’s, Grey, Tickles, Black Pressure & Pale Ghosts. I wouldn’t have looked at them without your recommendation & have ordered these (as well as your recommendation )on vinyl. I would never have realised how amazing this musician was without your enthusiastic endorsement. Thanks so much & I hope some day I can return the favour.

That John Grant album is definitely a diamond in the rough, had the pleasure of seeing him talk about the creative process during a Q+A with Richard Hawley last year the night the album came out, just a wonderfully endearing and delicate piece of work.

Got a few of them on your recommendation! If the metric for what my favourite’s of last year is what has been on repeat the most it’s these:- 1. Spellling - the turning wheel (and it’s not even close!) 2. Xenia rubinos - una Rosa 2. Ross from friends - tread 2. Idles - crawler 2. Dohnavur - the flow across borders I couldn’t split them up 🤷🏻‍♂️ Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Happy new year! My new year resolution was to buy less records, you're already spoiling it, specially with the preorders… One feature I used to like in 45 RPM was the turntable favourites, will you do it again? Because sometimes you remind me of great music I forgot or didn't care that much in the first place… Like this John Grant… I have it and it didn't stick… but numero uno? I'll give it another chance, no doubt! I don't have a list and sure as hell I can't say just one as the best… This year I'll try to keep the records I buy in a list, so we can discuss next year :). I used your links to another two, keep up the good work. Ah, regarding preorders, The Card Counter Soundtrack by Robert Levon Been… dark, moody, very good (I like BRMC…)

Hi MIchael......I have recently started to get interested in Jazz and I would like to buy some reissues but I am undecided between Tone Poet and Music Matters. The question that I ask you and is open to all is the following ... which of the two record labels is better? ... both in terms of sound and (very important) cover ... and above all, having to spend some money anyway, which of the two is most likely to reevaluate over time? Many thanks for your reply and for you wonderful videos.

Its sometimes very expensive to get the Music Matters, so the Tone Poets are the first choice in these days, but look at the MMJ Website there you can still get some titles i really recommend. Maybe you want to wait a few days, because i will do something new that probably will really help you :-)

Hello and Happiest of New Years to you. A quick thank you for your informational content. Wanted to say thanks for the Darkside recomendation. Here are a few of this years releases I think you might find interesting. In no certain order, The first new arrival of 2021 was, St Germaine - “Tourist Travel Versions” “ The producer Ludovic Navarre, better known as St. Germain, will publish an album containing remixes made by artists from all over the world to the tracks of his famous LP ‘Tourist’, as it celebrates two decades since it’s release.” The last album I received late New Years Eve was, PIPPI- Multiple Of Three “Birmingham-born DJ and producer Pippi Ciez released his latest studio album "Multiple Of Three”. With 9 original cuts, Pippi Ciez's "Multiple Of Three" features among his creations a series of collaborations with colleagues such as Ning Ning, Sabrina, Djamou Sangare, Idd Aziz and Genie By Nature. With its characteristic timeless melodies and dreamy sound passages, the new sound from Pippi fits perfectly to our All Day I Dream family.” Most recent discovery, Hieronmus Dream- NOSTOS This about sums it up, beautiful, well executed, Spacerock from a group out of Greece Dear traveler, This is “Nostos”. Nostos (Ancient Greek: νόστος) is a theme used in Ancient Greek literature, meaning homecoming, or homeward journey. Like Homer’s Odyssey we have to gain experience through our own journey, face our monsters, overcome every obstacle, and struggle. This album reflects a journey; it’s flaws are scars left from facing the perils, they are there to remind you that it’s not meant to be easy, to accept them in order to grow stronger as people, so that we can reach our goal. As Homer once quoted „If your heart is brave, don’t be afraid of getting lost.” credits released October 30, 2021 Only three more, Al Doum and the Faryds- “Freaky people” With their 5th release Al Doum step up the spiritual chanting in their brand of Spaced out spiritual jazz, but the guitar player and sax players more than and keep you entertained. AL DOUM AND THE FARYDS is an open ensemble. The new spiritual exotic jazz celebrate a new collective soul, a dancing cathartic ritual with birds, plants and all the animals, together in the circle of devotion. A journey in the total pranic breath. Matthew Halsall- “Salute To The Sun” LIVE Matthew’s brand of Alice Coltrane inspired jazz sets new bounds with his hypnotic trumpet playing. Beside being producer, writer, band leader, label owner this man is an inspiration. “ When we recorded Salute to the Sun, I wanted to create something playful but also quite earthy and organic that connected to the sounds in nature. It seemed to strike a chord with people and I was blown away by the response to the album. Our concert film, recorded at the height of last winter’s lockdown was a special moment for us all and I feel that the concert recording captured something beautiful that we wanted to share”. Salute to the Sun: Live at Hallé St Peter’s features Matthew Halsall - trumpet, Matt Cliffe - flute & saxophone, Maddie Herbert - harp, Gavin Barras - bass, Liviu Gheorghe - piano, Alan Taylor - drums and Jack McCarthy - percussion “ Last one, Joaquin Cornejo- “Las Frutas” EP A member of the ever growing number who take their South American Melody’s and instruments and meld them with western electronica. The title song alone is a Dub masterpiece. “Continuing to push his sound into new realms through experimentation with different influences, Joaquin Cornejo returns to Earthly Measures with his first vinyl release. The ‘Las Frutas’ EP contains 6 genre-bending, tempo-shifting tracks that form to create a mesmerising blend of footwork, dub, Latin & African percussion.” Hope you find something here to enjoy Cheers

I understand the title of your ranking to be about the best albums released for the first time in 2021. That's why my Top 10 looks different (without ranking): -Black Label Society - Doom Crew Inc. -Neal Morse Band - Innocence & Danger -Transatlantic - The Absolute Universe -The Rugged Nuggets - Odds & Ends -Dream Theater - A view from the Top of the World -Neil Young - Barn -Smalltape - The Hungry Heart -Joe Bonamassa - Time clocks -Sting - The Bridge -St. Vincent - Daddy's Home

I cannot make a reliable list of the "10 best" as I just have not bought and listened to all new releases of 2021 that seem to be interesting to me. So I just name 10 new LP titles of 2021 I like very much. As I find myself unable to rank them from 1 to 10 because the musical content is too wide-ranging and not really comparable, I just name the records in alphabetical order. And don't get me wrong - I could list more than 10 which are not worse (for my taste). Can: Live in Stuttgart 1975 Philip Glass: Itaipu (recording from 1993, but first time on LP) Pierre Henry: Un Monde Lacéré Bernhard Lang: Cheap Opera/Loops for Klaus Schulze Arvo Pärt: Cantique Evan Parker: Winns Win Sergey Rachmaninov: All-Night Vigil (on Reference Recordings 45 rpm) The Residents: Leftovers Again?! Jean Sibelius: Piano Trio (on Yarlung 45 rpm) Tangerine Dream: Probe 6-8

Hello Michael. Ooops…i bought the John Grant album and i m pretty deceived…the melodys trick is always the same and i found the album very boring…no varied musicality and the drum beat sounds always the same …and the uptempo songs are not good for me …i don t really understand this album as your number one…it s a difference taste feeling …but thanks for your videos, always looking for it

I think that John Grant's album is a good candidate for the best album of 2021, however, I can suggest the album 'Portas' by Marisa Monte from MPB.
