Man, I wish I was in the UK. I'd come buy literally everything from this lad. I can't even tell you how many of these videos I watch/listen to throughout my workday.
OMG this video changed my life. If you don't have 1 get an amp stand!!! I made one in like 20 minutes and my amp sounds 50% better now that its pointing at my head not my shins.
Gonna try it. I always complained my amp (katana artist) didn't sound as good to my hears as when I record via USB.. But the other day I was like bending into my guitar and hear the amp really close to my head and the tone was so much different.. So weird
On the subject of volume pedals, the best thing I bought for my Marshall DSL1 head & 1x12 was the JHS Little Black Amp Box. I was pretty disappointed with this amp at bedroom levels because the bass kept farting out and the 0.1 W setting didn’t sound good and was still very loud for a condo. That JHS LBAB totally changed it all! Could probably use a volume pedal but it’s more susceptible to bumps and nudges.
I would recommend anyone with a loud amp check out the JHS black box. It’s essentially a master volume for amps that lack run. Dime your amp then run it through your effects loop, turn it to a reasonable level yet keep the tone. Best part is it doesn’t require a power supply or battery. Plus it’s like 40 bucks. Definitely something to look into if you don’t have a proper practice amp at home.
Damn thanks for the recommendation. I just got my first tube, a dsl40cr, aaaaand I thought I’d be able to plug in my headphones but found out that I couldn’t
@Thomas Ertzeid Gulseth Right, especially if you already have a volume pedal or gr eq pedal, it does the same thing. Helps to get most tone out of, say, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe at home.
Dagan, the Captain Jack Sparrow of the guitar world. your awesome man. awesome video. just got a new Brent Hinds Terror and now i need some more stuff lol. awesome
Best utility pedal I've ever bought is the Earthquaker Swissthings pedal, way more then just a ab/y pedal wow. Totally simplified my setup, got rid of some noise issues I had and has 2 effects loops built it (1 buffered &1 nonbuffered). Also a built in adjustable 20db clean boost. I needed a ab/y pedal for my amps I run in stereo, a Carvin X50B with 4x12 cab and a Marshall jcm800 4010 combo, I ended up with so much more from this pedal, definitely the pedal you need that you never knew about!
I haven’t gigged for many years, but I used to commandeer a table and put my amp on it right behind me. As Dagan says, it helped me hear what I really sounded like. It also made me realise just how loud I was.
@1:18 What really made my amp sound better was the wing feathers of a thousand golden swans along with ruby mosquito eyebrows and diamond encrusted flea tongues and hand-wired by really good white basketball players using unobtainium.
Hey man I'm building my collection of pedals and I've come to the part about powering them all and I was wondering what your thoughts were about a 9 volt wire set that you plug into a wall plug opposed to a battery pack.
Ahhh why u so good at making ppl want to buy stuff qwq, now hearing bt stuff ive never heard someone talk about and getting to know things that you didnt and making u want it
Probably one of the new Fender cables, as far as the employee from Thomann was right, because I asked for the same when I was at the store few weeks ago and he told me to get one of the Fender Professional cable series because you have the effort to self fix them if they should get a problem or a "crack" or something... (Sorry for my English and cheer's)
Been a Bass player for years, just messed with guitar. A few year's ago, I told my wife my dream guitar as a kid and she secretly got it for me. A Fender Jag Stang. After I started playing all the time, I got a GTX50, which I love and actually use gigging as my controller. But the amp Stand changed my life, lol. And you always need the footswich and the expression pedal.
Joke's on you, I can hear through my knees. I feel the vibration and transmit it to my head by enhancing my nen and chakra. It's a forbidden technique.
An expensive aby, radial ,has a proper isolation transformer and allows you to run two amps cabs at same time for tone stacking, otherwise mostly any idiot can soder a normal aby switch.
No shit the guitar cable is low impedance, the speaker cable is high voltage

for all you living-room warriors out there: sadly the WL-20 has an huge issue: it can get in the way of your wlan at home - whenever I use this the stupid fire-tv stick will stop working correctly - so damn no noodling around wirelessly while binge-watching tBBT for the 10th time ...
Guitar cable has one small gauge lead for the hot, and a ground shield, it’s for tiny signals, from your guitar PU’s. Speaker wire is 2 equal gauges of wire....big difference!
One you missed is a cab grabber i got mine for Birmingham PMT especially if you are micing the amp up and don’t want to use your DI input . Brilliant invention and no need for a massive normal mic stand which I see guitarist using live all the time . Just be mindful that if you get a amp stand it will point your amp in the direction of your mic stand if your a singer which will create bleed into the vocal mic. This annoys sound engineers who like quiet stages to avoid feedback issues . Especially important if you are a singer / guitarist . Just get some wheels for your amp or if you have the money get a hard flight case built it looks more professional and your whole amp will be protected .Best thing I’ve done . Plus you don’t need an amp cover . Trust me it’s worth it spend the money . Van damme cables - all the fender cables I’ve ever used have gone on me in a live setting which is embarrassing . Cables are important and you can get them custom built (right angles and straight Jack inputs ) from a site on google based in the UK. Another informative video. Thank you AB switches are good for different amps if your back can take more than one amp to each gig or your roadie (who has these ?) doesn’t mind carrying loads of equipment . Ps - if any ‘jealous guitarist’ plays with your settings without your permission you have the guitarist community permission to introduce them to your fist- no one should touch your gear without your permission. If they do ask to have a go on their girlfriend or something precious they hold dear like their car. Watch their face drop with the realization they are indeed a rude idiot . 🙏✊
Do you think we can plug 2 WL20 ‘s with one from your guitar to the pedalboard and the other from pedalboard to the amp with no interference Dagan ? 🤟🏼
Amp stands are amazing. The one I got is tall so I dont have to bend over to change eq. And yes the amp sounds better facing my head not my legs😂. Who would've thought?
Ok so what is the captor x plugged into "A LITTLE ZOOM THINGY" Sorry I'm a guitar and amp guy. I have no fucking clue what that thing is or what it does
One thing to note about cables is that the longer they are, the more high end you lose due to capacitance. So the coily cables have more distance to travel for a given length of cable, and are going to sound darker than the straight ones
Hi Dagan, now this may sound stupid, but I have to ask. If there are 2 black cables (or any other colour) with identical connectors; how do you tell which is a speaker cable, and which is a guitar cable? I am sure there are a few other people out there would like to know, but won't ask. Might be a topic for another video. Cheers, and happy Christmas. x
You can usually unscrew the tip and look at the wires, if it is two thick wires it's a speaker cable, if they're braided or shielded it's a instrument cable
12 ga, all copper cable, jacket is not very important. Monster cable? Paying for a name, shop around, you can find off shore 12Ga cables for around a buck a foot...well worth it! 1 caveat test it! Poorly made cable could short the 2 sides. = amplifier melt down, wanna kill a tube amp? Use a shorted speaker cable! But minimum 14 ga. It matters! that gauge requires the large body 1/4” plugs, make your own cable, much cheaper, don’t strangle your tone with small gauge speaker cable
I recommend keep pissing off the sound guys. just kidding. I really recommend beam blockers on all your speakers. gets rid of that annoying Hi frequency.
Dagan is a great guy who always has time for customers in the Newcastle PMT branch, especially the nervous inexperienced ones ,all the staff in that branch go out of their way to get the best deal for you, never feel any pressure to buy or get out in there, if it's not in stock at that branch they'll get it for you within a day or two
