Clark - I've been watching your videos recently and I'm amazed at your maturity and wisdom - I'm 69 years old and recently retired after 40 years of working with youth the last 28 years as a youth probation officer. Retirement has been difficult for me trying to find areas of part time work... my work in the past was so fulfilling - anyway, been enjoying your videos in helping me re-create myself - I've referred your videos to some of my former clients - peace
mr scott, you words have echoed to my belief that in life we face different problems while we are in different stages, and that we shouldnt stop growing and developing.
Thanks Ng - like you I believe we shouldn't stop growing and developing - I was able to order from my local library two of the books Clark referred to - Steal like an Artist and Outliers and look forward to reading them - are you a regular subscriber to Clark Danger?
Yes I am. I also borrowed this book from the library a year ago. I am so happy to have YouTue and some great channels like Clark's and Brain's and we can intereact here because in my social circles, there aren't many people who read and think. Most of them are into video games, which are entertaining and not hurtful if used in moderation, but I need mor e positive influence and RU-vid is a great place to go to.
Clark, I want to tell you something: you actually learn the most when you’re teaching, which is exactly what you’re doing with all of your amazing videos. So thank you!!!
This book makes complete sense, completely resonated with the project life cycle. I'd like to add, there's a video "Nobody tells this to the beginners", I think the video and this book are on the same track.
Thank you for this series. Please make it a playlist on your channel so I can just listen to summaries of books. I don't read enough but self improvement books are my favorite.
just wanted to say, you are doing great. I enjoy your depth of discussion, not too deep not too shallow; and your earnestness. It seems like you really care. I resonate with it and enjoy the reviews. Keep up the good work.
Thank you ! I paint but I always thought I was a impostor cause I was learning from other artists but this info really make me feel better ! Now I understand that I get inspired for this other to create my own ! :)
Wow, I really like the book summary. A friend of mine told me about it, as I'm working on my dream to become an EDM DJ & Producer and now I really got the whole idea! I'll definetely get a copy of that book. Thanks a lot!
very useful tips summarised, Clark! Cheers from Hong Kong. Thanks so much for the inspiration. Love how authentically you're speaking in all these videos.
I had some (writers block) and I know now its bc i was trying, like you said,to come up with something original. Pressure is off now thanks to you. It's all a remix! I paint furniture so I wanted to come up with something unique, but it will be bc it's a part of me and who I am and (my family tree) thank you!
ima be honest, i seen a quote somewhere. It said, "never tell people your source of your creativity". This is what i live by as a music producer......i will hold this until i pass away.
Love this video, I've been watching a lot of Brian's stuff as well. Today I was watching his creativity class and this book review you've just done seals everything perfectly :). Thanks :)
I have noticed that there is a low threshold for calling oneself an "artist." That term has been seriously devalued in the past 40 years. We seem to live in a world where virtuosity in one's field is jettisoned in the mad rush to become the latest trendoid celebrity. Music is still a good place to call oneself an artist. A musician cannot fake it -- you either play well or you don't. There is no room for the inane posturing of some visual artists: vacuous statements about one's special identity or how one's process is the work itself. At some point the bankruptcy of the art world becomes the straw that causes the whole thing to collapse.
I can agree with all of these points but BMTH's earlier albums did not suck, they might have evolved into what they are today but their beginnings were truly remarkable.
Just for reference: The Dr. Dre metaphor was botched. Sure Dr. Dre can DJ, but you're referencing him being a music producer and sampling. He's both. Sure, he DJ'd in the past, but he's known for being a music producer. Music producers make music and remix; DJ's play music. Not an uncommon mistake.
You inspiration me my friend Clark respect to you man you rock dude :) :) you help me so much not give up on my RU-vid channel and journaling written dowe my big dreams thank you so much make this great videos
Thanks bro. We're getting there - the community is growing 10x what it did back in May. At this rate we should have quite a massive community in a year or two! Great things take time.
I love your energy man, your videos are amazing, but let me be brutally honest with you I am only telling you this because I appreciate what you are doing...the thing is I personally think your video seems too long, coz the first time I came across your videos I only watched it for few minutes and then went back to some other videos, but you have a positive vibe so next time I saw your video I thought I would give it a try again I watched for 15 mins.....so, I really recommend you to keep your videos between 10-13 mins, and I really think that this would highly increase your watch time and your subscribers list. I know who regularly watch your videos can easily watch your 20 mins video, but no. of new viewers will be very less hence, you won't be attracting new subscribers. Anyway, that's my personal thoughts. Loved your energy man. Keep up the good work.😊😊
Bring Me the Horizon had to change their flavor of music because their lead singer blew out his vocal cords. However, because of this, they changed the tone of their music and rose to the top with some of the greats.
