We need a Mafia 2 remaster. The game is a masterpiece in terms of story, soundtrack, atmosphere and gameplay. It's one of the best games that I've ever played
i had getaway in my youth, been searching for a game like it set in england or london. its none like it out there though .. wouldnt mind a third game or a remaster/remake
Yup underrated gem I actually pirated it Enjoyed it so much that I felt guilty for not buying So I bought it 4 times One for myself 3 as gift to friends
Absolutely. That game is so good but never got the attention it deserved. I've beaten that game at least 3 times on different platforms ( they keep giving it away. Got it on PC PS4 and Xbox) In my opinion, it's one of the best open-world games of its kind with the only exception being the KINGs on that genre GTA. And even there I think Sleeping Dogs too more risk with the setting and the people.
I'm so glad I played Mafia 2 back in the day. It never caught my eye when looking for games and I ended up just getting it for free on psn years ago, never heard anyone talk about it but thought I'd at least give it a shot. It turned out to be one of my all time favorites. The whole Al Capone classic gangster genre is criminally under rated in gaming and we absolutely need a sequel to the ending in Mafia 2. For those who know what I'm talking about, don't lie, you cried too and want to know what happens next.
@@mattd3978 Unfortunately I couldn't get into Mafia 3. It was just too much of a departure from the other two and I generally don't like the southern 60s theme that much either.
Sucks that the devs botched Mafia 3 with the repetitive gameplay. Playing as a black protagonist in 60s Louisiana was a very brave undertaking, and it would have been great if not for the lack of diversity in mission structure and storytelling.
@@Adri-ny9gk lol. Trashy??? In 2009 there wasnt a better mechanics in a game. It was so better than GTA4. You could do much more things in Mafia. And the graphic was like game from 2013
I'm still addicted to that "The Godfather 1" game. It just had sooooo many amazing things about it, from the world building to the combat to the open world mechanics to the mechanics of how yoy progressed to take over territory, to the character creation...Just glorious
I preferred Godfather 2. One of the best games I've ever played, it was so fun I really liked the fact that you could customize anything on your character AND your soldiers and it had a whole strategy system.
Yes it was all over the top gameplay and history, and it's crazy to think they had such a wonderful material and screw up so much creating modern open world games.
It's the only one that needs a remaster mafia 2 is pretty and will age well. Hdr remaster at best. But if mafia 1 had a ground up rework I would pay double for that
The storyline was/is the best crimestory I've ever experienced, from driving a taxi to winning a high stakes race, rising through the ranks doing jobs for the family and then behind the family's back, to being manhunted that script was phenomenal and much more in depth than mafia 2.
The last mission of Mafia 2 where Joe doesn't shoot you and actually helps you got me happy until Leo said "Sorry kid, Joe wasn't part of the deal" got me sad again.
Mafia 2 has a special place for me since my parents never let me have any GTAs, but for some reason were cool with a mafia game. This is the one game I will always hold out hope for a remake/remaster for.
@@WCCXtra Yeah the details in the game is insane, for example if you drive more than speed limit police will give you ticket, also if you have wanted police doesn't automatically shootng you, they first will try to arrest you without shooting and you can even bribe them lol.. And npcs dialogues are different everytime you make progress in the game..
@@WCCXtra It's backwards compatible buddy, I played it lately. That game is one of the best games ever. The amount of detail will blow ur mind. Have fun buddy
The Godfather games are awesome and you should really play both depending on what experience you prefer. Part I makes you climb your way up from a Gangster to Don and is a more personal story. Part II on the other hand starts you out as a new don taking over your rival's businesses and is a more gameplay driven experience.
I like Mafia one more than Mafia 2, because I think part one really held the true colors of the 'Mafia', that glamourous but gritty, living by a code of honour, big organizations and then betrayal, it all felt very grandioso and romantic! Mafia 2 represents a newer and more struggling version of organized crime, where authorities are getting stronger, stricter and smarter, crimes are loosing all kinds of honour and code and our small thug heroes never actually made it big in the game! Vito was struggling throughout the game without any actual power position.
Mafia 2 is a gem, a masterpiece, it’s truly special, easily the most immersive well written story game i’ve ever played. Anyone who loves good storytelling and haven’t played Mafia 2 wtf are you doing? Play it right now!
Mauricio Macri Wdym? The story is perfect, what one could consider being ”incomplete” is the open world part of the game. It had a LOT of cut content which is why it might feel like there’s not much to do outside of the main story. Imo however the story is so damn incredible that it really makes up for other cut activities.
Mafia II was amazing but was unfinished because the developers at 2K Czech didn’t get the time they wanted to finish this is masterpiece and guess who was pushing the devs at 2K Czech. If you guessed Take-Two Interactive you are correct. Take-Two Interactive was pushing the devs because their investors were losing interest in the Mafia franchise. This was stated in one of the interviews with the devs of 2K Czech in 2012.
@@ziadamam1914 While I admit, I don't remember any in Mafia 2 classic, The definitive edition had some terrible visual bugs. Also, never say there are "no bugs" in a game, there are ALWAYS bugs if you try hard enough to find them! 😆
I’ve never been so happy that mafia 2 was chosen as first place it never got the recognition it deserved and mafia 3 never lived up to the high expectation of the previous game Mafia 2 is and forever will be my favourite game of all time, did I forget to mention *”Joe wasn’t part of the deal”*
Mafia City Of Lost Heaven is my childhood game i replay it every year and still enjoy it. The music and the vibes and ofc the ending makes me want to allways hop to mafia 2 ;)
The original Mafia is one the best games ever made and was ahead of it's time. I spent 100's of hours playing it when it came out, and just as many modding it.
@@gameranxTV that is just because of unity I guess.(one of the biggest mistake in gaming industry) Hey will have u made any video on the biggest mistakes in gaming industry
@@russparadero Although I personally enjoyed the side missions (and I'm the sort of guy who only plays main missions of any game) I gotta agree that it sucked when they forced you to do them when you hit too many main missions in a row.
The Godfather is one of my favorite video games of all time. The whole taking over businesses thing is something we’ve never seen in a game before or since. Excellent 20th century NY and gameplay.
the only thing i know about that game is when he’s coming down the stairs shooting, but him and everyone else is t-posing. it’s the clip they used, but it was working properly in their clip
That shit is gangster as fuck man. I just now plugged my old ps3 back up it's been downloaded on there for years. Now I'm running through New York fucking shit up again. Shits fun as fuck man.
Like the first GTA on ps1...with the over head camera....I remember walking around and pressing circle ( charterer would fart and it would start fights with NPC's) funny shit
The first godfather game was great. I played it on PS2 then the godfather part 2 came out on PS3 I bought it and it sucked. I couldn't get into it but the first one I played for hours and hours
Mafia II was and still is a classic, one of my favourite games. There’s something about playing games when you’re younger that just holds so much more meaning. wish they consider making a remastered version 😭
Honestly. I wish the rest of the series felt the same as that game. It's good that they branched out to be unique but the first two, especially the second one, were unique as it was
Joshua Joseph no I like the first saints row more because the first saints row is more gangster I prefer the first game’s customization it’s driving the cars in saints row 2 drive too slow the melee combat is worse in saints row 2 the camera angle was better in the first game on the other hand I can see people who don’t care about any of that liking saints row 2 more because the map is larger and the graphics are slightly improved there are reasons to like both games but I just so happen to find saints row 1 more enjoyable 😎
Love that game, even though it ran like absolute garbage and it’s rendering distance was maybe 3 inches in front of nick. Absolutely amazing games. Remember the dog patrol mode where you could play as Snoop Dogg, ahh good times
I agree completely. The first couple hours are a little difficult to get into, but as soon as you reach chapter III things get really freaking good. Easily one of the best stories in gaming for sure. Really fun combat too.
JPZ me too it’s my favorite game of all time it’s nothing like I thought it was gonna be until I played it,first 2 chapters are slow but after that it’s a 9/10 story.
@@WhirlingMusic Yeah I guess but you should try 0 as it's the best out of all of them and is chronologically the first game, if you don't like 0 then you won't like the rest.
Driver parallel line is literally my childhood. Being able to see how the character evolve and how the city changes from old cars to new ones is everything and also slink with is fat Afro was a vibe too haha
i love sleeping dogs the feeling of shooting out tires while driving in slow motion the cool as hell martial arts take downs the awesome storyline about betrayals loyalty and brotherhood everything about that game is amazeing
The cops could be pretty tough to ditch on foot, but I loved to let a cop catch up, right around a car, so I could throw him into the trunk of the car, and listen to him bang around inside yelling for help, while I jumped the car into the ocean, and bailed, cackling with laughter. Ahh good times..
That shit was an addicting gem and the only thing that stopped me from playing it anymore was the fact that I hit the maximum money the software allowed. $999,999,999 lol
I wasted god only knows how much of my youth playing the fuck outta this lmao 100% it several times and i also just ended up owning every simgle thing you could buy in it and you could trick out your pad with the crazy shit ya bought lol the soundtrack was fucking lit too damn now i want a remaster
You guys have great taste in games. The Godfather, GTA III, and The Warriors were all fantastic. I’m about to finally try the Mafia series for the first time.
SLEEPING DOGS was one of the most underrated game of that time & one of the best games I've ever played. The fighting styles & the story was over the top amazing.Highly recommend if u still haven't played yet.
The godfather 1 game is still my favorite game,i like how you can conquer places which puts your own familys men there, i wish other games were like that too
Mafia 2 will always have a place in my heart. I love that game. If only the same studio fully made Mafia 3, and not in a supporting function. I don't get that decision.
Gerwin Eric I don’t count mafia 3 as cannon it was that bad, I don’t want a remaster of mafia 2 either as it would be the same team again and they would end up butchering it as well
@@thedonofthsht76-58 in that, I agree. The story is good, but not great imo and the way they presented it with a documentary flair is awesome. But that gameplay, I think it's the only time I really put down a game because I was so tired of the gameplay and I am a sucker for open world games and the chores that comes with it. I just happened to push myself through the game years later because of my love for the second game. But I agree, the story was good enough as a continuation for 2 and that gameplay loop was the sore thumb that sticks out so bad.
@@justsomeguy2743 I agree. I wouldn't trust Take Two to deliver a great remaster of Mafia 2. I read that the remnants of the original team who worked on two (2K Czech) was absorbed by the team that made Mafia 3 (Hangar 13) and that is bad imho. The story was okay as a continuation of 2, but the rest is just awful. If only 2K Czech made 3. Just a shame.
I remember being ill for a few weeks through the summer and a mate of mine bought me Scarface to “Cheer me up” and boy did it work. It was a great bit of fun when I was stuck in bed, it was a great looking game as well as I recall at the time. A great memory from a shit time for me it’d be nice to see a remaster/reboot but I doubt that’ll happen! Great vid Jake, cheers mate
Scarface was my jam back in the day. My best friend Wade (rest in peace brother) and I played the hell out of this. When we would take the missions to collect money from all of your businesses, we had played the game so much we had mapped out a specific route to maximize profits and gain the most amount of money. Good memories man.
@@plagueknightt7051 I said nothing about The Godfather..& Saints Row actually sucked. I tried playing it again a few days ago & it's horrible. I'm amazed I once enjoyed it
Another one worth checking out is Empire of Sin. Take the racketeering and business holding model from Godfather 2 and cross it with XCOM, and it leaves you a pretty fun experience.
No love for Liberty City Stories and specially Vibe City Stories :') damn, the empire building system on VCS was so satisfying... Really wish R* would do a port of it for android/"ps2 for ps4", but the soundtrack licensing doesn't make it any easier :/
I love Sleeping dogs man. I mean the first time I played it, I completed the whole game in 3 days and I mean completely with side missions and all. It really is a underrated masterpiece
Best fighting mechanics ever. The wedding mission was tragic. Was awesome being a member of a triad. The Cantonese felt so authentic. The karoke stuff caught me off guard.
Mafia 2 was a amazing game and it had me in from the moment I loaded the game I just couldn’t get into mafia 3 it started really boring to me so I never finished it
I was too hyped for mafia 3, though i was disappointed I've finished it. The dlcs added some variety but compared to mafia 2 and 1, it's a bad game. I hope mafia 4 goes back to the franchise roots (no hangar 13 involved please)
I played mafia three a couple years after it released and I encountered zero issues. It was honestly one of the best gangster games I’ve ever played, and I played mafia 2 lol People tend to judge her game very harshly and maintain that opinion without ever having fully played the game after it’s bugs have been polished
@@aeringothyk5445 , yeah I heard they addressed some issues with the game awhile back and decided to give it another shot a few weeks ago. I just finished it this weekend and really enjoyed it. The voice acting is top notch. I wish your mob bosses interacted with each other a little more or had more impact on the main story line. I'm looking forward to 2Ks next outing in this genre.
@@sugreev2001 , yeah that's why I put it down the first time I played it (when it first came out). I was about 20 hrs in and had had enough. This time around, less so. I can't put my finger on why, though. I think they fixed issues with cover and added more offensive options. The driving was boring , too. I hated driving all the way down to the bayou, but driving feels a bit more fun this time around - at least when you get your hands on a faster car.
I completely forgot about the scarface game, honestly an unrecognized gem, I still remember the day my game got scratched and I couldn't find another at any local gamestops, was a sad day.
Ah this is my favourite subject as well when it comes to genres of games! Mafia 1 and 2, scarface, gta vice city, SA, driver All are masterpieces! They really need to remaster all of those
Mafia 2 is fukin amazing, man. i like every little detail in it. the fkin steam coming from vents in the winter, the street lights, car hijacking, buying new weps from the shop.its just lit af
Edward Fryrear Still no. Mafia 1 is outdated and not amazing as people make it seem. Besides I didn't even mention racing mission, even without that it it still not good.
Mafia 1 wasn’t open world. It had an open world mode (called Free Roam) but the story mode didn’t allow any exploration during or in between missions as they were linear
I played most of the older games mentioned on this list at an early age. For some reason I had no issue finishing Scarface, but The Godfather felt like one of the most overwhelming games I'd played at the time, from things like the opening sequence, the soundtrack, and just how intense it felt engaging in fights.
