Wondering where to find scrap copper? Here's my list of the 10 best places where I find all of mine!
Wire stripper I use: amzn.to/3sirg18
The motorized stripper: amzn.to/3y0JMuQ
The wire cutters I like: amzn.to/2T6j3OW
This is the cheaper version: amzn.to/2SwrYsB
And here are those grips I recommend: amzn.to/2QCJmYl
(If you make a purchase on amazon through the links above, a small amount of what amazon makes on the sale is shared with me. It's a great way to help support my channel, at no additional cost to you. Even if you buy something other than my tool recommendations!)

Place near me you can scrap the AC adapters on there own, same with the boxy plugs, and all kinds of stuff. Light ballasts, Transformers, PC boards, even regular boards like out of a VCR, or you can even sell PC parts separate by the pound like the ram, CPUS, hard drives. place is endless on what they pay for.

My addition to your list is "AUCTIONS"! I have picked up a lot of scrap at farm auctions and the occasional HVAC/Plumbing auction. I once paid $2,000 for a rack of type L piping. I was told I was nuts and must hate money. I sold it for $3,500!

Thub is spot on about extension cords. I weighed 1Kg of (UK) 3-core extension cable then stripped the outer it and re-weighed it as singles. Even with good singles prices the cable was worth 2.5% more unstripped, so the time & effort would have cost me money!

I second the plumbing tip. I drive a residential recycling route and every time I see a sink or tub or shower in a dumpster in front of a house I know I'm stopping back there after work. Stripping down the faucets is a quick way to a hunch of clean and chromed brass too.

Transformers are great, and they are fun. The small ones can typically be taken apart in such a way as to allow you to spool the wire off the winding and onto a screwdriver shaft. The larger, older stuff is trickier, because its often coated in a potting compound or something, making the windings impossible to unspool in a tidy manner. A chisel, a hammer and a bench vice tends to sort those out though. You get a hefty whack of iron to boot!

@@JoeRogansForehead while there is no big demand for pure sodium metal, there is a huge demand for sodium-based products. Table salt costs 30 USD per ton here in Mexico where I am currently living. Caustic soda is priced at 4 USD per kg here in Mexico. If you sell 1 ton of caustic soda you will be making 4k USD per ton while in sodium you will be spending much less + energy and machinery setup. Of course if you don't know any physics, chemistry , mathematics and programming you won't make this money easily. But you can get this knowledge say in 3 years, and then lots of business opportunities will appear. Caustic soda is used to make soap, fyi, a product that everyone needs.. With solar energy dropping in price the production cost will be getting lower, and the profit getting higher, but for a guy who doesn't have any knowledge this money will always stay unreachable. Some dumpster companies have declared anything inside the dumpster is their property because they recycle the contents, therefore they can press charges for theft. I have a big plasma cutter capable of severing 2 inch thick steel . But a hypertherm powermax 30 plugs into a 110 outlet has its own air compressor . It can turn a freezer into flat sheet metal instantly and do so for almost no cost .purchase it used off ebay for 1200 if your a scrapper this will pay for it self in 6 months

I’ve been an HVAC technician for 20 years, so I’ve been scrapping for 20 years. I know exactly where you’re coming from. Prices have dropped recently which is really annoying but I plan on scrapping this weekend hopefully getting a three to $400 load

also a good thing for a scrapper is to learn about the economy and economic trends. usually when global economy enters deflationary period (like now) commodity prices drop big time. any economic deceleration (which is called recession or depression) causes massive hoarding of cash (and cash in a global economy is called US dollar) and selling of all the accumulated goods on the market (any market including scrap), this causes massive demand of cash (US Dollar) , rise of unemployment which triggers more cash hoarding and more rise in the value of cash (US dollar) and that goes like falling dominoes. The depressions are usually caused by industrial revolution and robotization, which is the era we are currently living so crisis is the "normal" thing you all will live through your life. Thats why if you have to save the money for a period (years) when you won't make any money in scrap, but have enough storage to store accumulated valuable metals to sell it later when the economy comes back. And btw, that's why folks with big bugs no longer do any physical purchases and sellings but use trading exchanges (like NYSE or CBOT) to make money.

Old coax and ground wires for satellite dishes. I install satellite Internet and use #10 ground wire, rg6 coax with a copper messenger/ground wire. There are often old lines installed people want taken down.

If in the UK then check the fuse holder in sealed plugs, sometimes they are copper and the rivets can be drilled out easily.

I've got some of those old tvs. I could get a few hefty chunks of wire thanks for the tip. I'm trying to save up for a series x or a switch. Still haven't decided yet but I'm saving copper to sell at my local scrap yard I'm hoping I can get enough I'd say I got 20 pounds of copper from stripping cords the past few days

Bonjour de France. Fly markets are when they are over (once everyone has left) a mine of different metals and especially copper. Think that must be the same every where. Au plaisir.

This was great!! And it gor me thinking, as a voice I trust to honestly inform I was wondering if you could do a short video on the silver buttons found in nearly every contact. I hearthsm described as silver buttons but I have a hard time believing they are solid silver, or even a solid silver alloy of some kind. Would you please do a vid explaining exactly how much is actually there (big and small and miniscule) to bring some clarity to the subject.
@thubprint
@thubprint Год назад
Oh I did a whole video on silver! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JcbtwnOWq8M.html The little buttons are not pure silver, they have a bit of cadmium in them to harden them. Very toxic fumes, which is why I can’t just melt them down as-is. They’re easy to clean the copper off though, just leave in hydrochloric acid with a splash of hydrogen peroxide to kickstart the oxidization and the copper/brass/solder just gets eaten away.

If you know an HVAC guy they may recover the coolant for free depending on what kind it is. And for those copper stackers I've used a torch and just heat it up a bit and they slide right out.
