10 Best Places to Live in Scotland 

I live in the countryside, absolutely beautiful. Fields that stretch for miles and at least one farm in the background working away, sheep farming, cows etc. I feed the birds in the morning and instantly see the crows coming over the fields for some bread. Peaceful doesn't come close. The sunsets at 4am are beautiful, no city lights or nothing near me for miles to obscure it all.

I defo think Dunkeld and a walk up to the hermitage to see the waterfall would be right up your street

Broughty Ferry is basically Dundee’s beach.

Na h-Eileanan Siar is Scots Gaelic for the outer Hebridean Isles of Harris and Lewis and Barra and other littler ones dotted around. Luskentyre beach looks like the Bahamas however very much not as warm.

Dennistoun one of the wealthiest bits of the East end and is a 10 min walk from a lot of things like Celtic Park,Strathclyde Uni,Merchant City and only a 45 min drive from Edinburgh! Its apartments are gigantic!

Do some research in to Up Helly Aa. It’s a fire festival in the Shetland isles, that happens on the last Tuesday of every January. People come from all over the world to capture the event. You can also experience the 12 hour boat journey (longest ferry journey in the UK) as well.

We’ve got a caravan in Arbroath which is an ideal base to tour around Scotland. Montrose has a beautiful beach . Love going to Dundee & Aberdeen too .

I live in the Outer Hebrides, on Isle of Harris. Originally from Edinburgh, moved up many years ago, became a weaver of the famous cloth. The place is stunning, white sandy beaches, aqua green seas & wonderful mountains. It's not for everyone, winters here can be harsh. The pretty much constant wind can wear people down when they 1st move here!

I'm a Glaswegian, and I love Glasgow but Perth and Kinross is just beautiful, Dunkeld has so much history. It's Isle of Eigg is pronounced Egg. Probably don't be talking about buying a cottage anywhere in Scotland to stay for a few weeks, it's because of the English buying properties as holiday accommodation that the locals can't afford to buy property in their own villages, just saying as a bit of advice to you, please ignore at will. x

What he didn't say in the video is Broughty Ferry is part of Dundee, one of its suburbs, only 4 miles from the city centre of Dundee along the River Tay.

My home city of Dundee is your favourite place to live in Scotland although I'm really in Broughty Ferry now which is just outside the city but was incorporated. You said you would stay in Dundee, so i take it you have visited. Broughty Ferry is practically part of it although it is on the outskirts. If you had kept heading northwards you would have came across it followed by Balmossie, Carnoustie and Arbroath

Orkney is my favourite place to visit. There is so much to see, it has a wealth of Neolithic sites including the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae. It has Viking sites. World War II sites. Beautiful nature - including puffins. Plus there is a cracking snack van in the carpark opposite Tesco. Don’t think I could live there full time though. Too remote and the winter is too long.

These narrators really ought to do their homework on how to pronounce place names before presenting to the public! For example (amongst others), “Bearsden”… ridiculous.

Please ignore most of the pronunciations in this video, the voice sounded AI and got lots of the names wrong! If I'd managed to make money, my dream was to buy a flat in Glasgow's west end, and buy a cottage on Loch Lomond or in the Trossachs so I could enjoy the best of both worlds. Alas, I'm in my mid 30s and still live in a council flat, though at least I already live at Loch Lomond so things could be worse! If I could move anywhere in Scotland nowadays I would choose Oban, It's fairly remote and surrounded by stunning scenery, but it has all the amenities you'd need and is well connected by bus, train and ferry.I don't disagree that most of the picks on this list are nice places to stay... however my own top 10 would be very different from this video. Eigg is a real place and it's pronounced Egg! Eigg is near other islands called Rum and Muck. Along with Canna they're known as the Small Isles. I've never visited any of them but I have sailed past them on my way to the Outer Hebrides.

I grew up in Bonnybridge (not the prettiest but the aliens seem to like it! Yeah definitely a thing.) You recently went to the Falkirk Wheel which is just a couple of miles from there. I currently live just outside of Dumfries in a place with beautiful scenery and woodland. I've moved away a couple of times over the last decade but I usually last 6 months before the homesickness gets too much and I come back. Spent half my summer holidays in Broughty Ferry as a kid, my gran lived in Dundee and we'd walk to Broughty Ferry almost every day to go to the beach, and it had a really good ice-cream shop.

The best job in the world is in Orkney. The Logainair pilots who fly the Westray to Papa Westray route. Shortest commercial flight in the world. About a minute or 2. It's on my bucket list

My mate Donny did live on the Isle of Eigg. He has to get the ferry to visit his family every year. He lives in Edinburgh now. Melrose is just up the road from me. My rent is £280 a month. It is a one bedroom though. So beautiful however. ❤ my own front and back garden. Perfect for me.

I havnt been everywhere but my favourite 2 places are Dundee and Aberdeen, the place i disliked the most apart from Glasgow was Dunfermline because I found everyone was grumpy

@Eddy Cheese , My stepdad is from The Isle of Eigg (pronounced egg) and he lives here in Glasgow just a 5 minute walk from me . But he is on his way to Eigg next week for a wee break with my mum . About half of the population of the island are his relatives . Dennistoun in Glasgow is less than 2 miles from Celtic Park . I think this top 10 is made up of places with really high property prices which doesn't really paint a picture if they are the best places to live . I'd rather see a top 10 showing places with the least crime figures & great community spirit .

Eddy , wouldn’t take the video you were watching too serious as you probably know more about Scotland than the person narrating it . Although you need to head a bit further North out of the Cental Belt places like Oban, Aberdeen,Wick, Ullapool , etc. Some off these places are quiet and scenic perhaps not enough happening for your videos but worth seeing. I think you’re doing it right a bit at a time as travelling is really expensive these days, especially accommodation.
