😂😂😂I got the same response Tone...tell her don't hate...APPRECIATE😂😂😂 Your doing great work Jeff. Thanx for pulling me up on the style game. Keep grinding my brother!
Don't fret my brothers, no proper bear hug can be given without a proper dad bod. And just like Jeff said, blazers and jackets are our best friend! Salute to all fellow dads o7
Fellow OGs..unless attending an old school function or concert please leave the Skittle colored pimp suits and two piece matching Osh Kosh outfits in da closet.. I've seen a few too many still tryin to rock them at regular spots. I would say burn them but trends seem to come back around.
Great tips, I'm 26 and have been struggling with weight loss since my teens, these are very helpful. Some of these I already knew just by trial and error, but some like the raglan shirt tip was definitely something I needed for my arsenal.
Man I'm happy i saw this is my suggestion list! I've been racking a dad bod for too long 😥 and alpha m and TMF (I'm done with that fool) really show no love AT ALL for the big fellas. Smacking the sub button!
+10 Style Points for being Super Real in this video and just flat out keeping it real. I know the feeling too about eating a little too much. I prefer to just go on a long walk in a huge park near me on the walking trails while I listen to a podcast or catch up on RU-vid videos on my walk for multitasking. Yes, I even manage to watch your videos too on my 4.5 miles walk. I TRY to do it daily, but that's the goal. I enjoy brisk pace walking far more than being in the gym. But, I'm trying to lose a few waist pounds so my shirts can be tailored in better. In other news, I got new 27 HQ fabric Trousers back from the tailor this week. A dozen of them were all new Lightweight fabric Chinos of various colors that were customed reg hemmed. The others were lightweight fabric Wool and Wool blends that were cuffed. Been improving my Wardrobe since finding the channel over the last 2 months. So Salute to helping me upgrade my style. Work in progress. However, getting back on topic and something I think that goes along with what your mentioning in the vid with jackets is having some Shirt Jackets for options to use. As long as it's not hot or too warm weather when wearing. But a few Shirt Jackets goes a long way along with a few Sport Coat to give some versatility to your look when your a bit thicker than usual in the midsection.
Thanks Jeff. Last year I was well in shape. When I got married I lost time to make it to the gym. My wife got pregnant and it’s all been a dad bod. I still have my phone tone. I’m just getting back Into the workout soon. Thanks for this video. Keep grinding.
My brother, I love the way you make a point, show the photo, and move on. Perfect voice inflection. You are a class act and have my full respect. 💪🏼 Great advice across the board. Thank you for helping us all.
Instead of untucking your dress shirt (and risk looking sloppy), one might suggest wearing a higher-waist trouser. Modern RTW trousers often have low rise, which tends to run under one's belly and therefore accentuate it. A higher rise goes over that belly and does a decent job of masking it.
🗣 Also wear an undershirt weather it be a wife beater or a crew neck shirt. The undershirt compresses the lose muscle you are carrying around.🗣 Major key!!!
Thank you for THIS video, I use it as my base when working on my wardrobe, whenever you have time make more videos for us dad bods/chubby guys... especially us in our 50’s and 60’s...
Salute, Jeff. A bit late to this one, but lemme just drop in to say I'm missing two crucial tips here for the bigger guy: - High waist trousers, especially when "dressing up" and tucking in and especially since you mentioned suspenders. Suspenders are no good when they hold your trousers under your belly. Now, I'm not talking about pulling your pants up like grandpa, I'm talking about a high waist cut that rests easily at the middle of your belly. - now, if you're concerned about high waist being "too oldschool", this is where tip no. 2 comes in: Wear a waistcoat as often as possible. As part of a three piece suit or a combination. Maybe just a knit vest or a sweater vest (or even a sweater, period). It will help hiding that midriff and smoothen you out visually without you looking like a sloppy dresser (which, to be perfectly honest, an untucked dress short always does) and nobody can tell what hight your waist cut has.
you should have a podcast OG! keep it up...as the world gets more casual (lazy and don't care what they wear) we dress formal and stylish... thank you for giving your time and knowledge of what you know. If my father was alive he would love your channel. Like my father would say to me ...the world walk in darkness (people not dressing right and not been a light to others) that's why real men walk-in glass toes ( he would shine his shoes and dress with a touch of class and style).
The last tip about the low cut shoes was a great one and one of the images really made the tailored pants tip click for me, particularly in the length. I just realized that we shorter guys don't need material piling up on our shoes, makes us look like our legs are shorter. Now I need to go fix mine up an inch or so! Thanks!
I needed this today O.G.! Thank you for thinking of us bigger guys. I'm 5'11" and 360. I'm goiong to have surgery but until then I still want to look fresh. I regularly wear my shirts untucked and wear suspenders under the shirt! When I need to dress up I wear the suspenders out. You are right. Suspenders are a Win Win. Thanks again.
Another item that is REALLY good for slimming in casual situations are goalie shirts - the shirts goal keepers in soccer wear. They are most often long sleeved, often just *slightly* padded in the shoulders, and do a great job trimming your profile. Often, the patterns on them are very trimming, to boot. If you can find a soccer supply store in your area, that will offer the most variety of styles, but most big box sporting goods stores are likely to have them, if not as wide a selection.
Hey, great video and excellent tips. One I would caution against is mixing suspenders and a belt. One of your images re: suspenders showed a gentleman wearing both.
Another great video. Thanks for the tips. I agree fit is king. If your dress shirt is tugging at the buttons, get a fuller profile shirt pattern. If the shirt arms are stretched tight or creating horizontal bunching, you need a fuller cut shirt or go up to the next size. Keep up the good work.
Dope video. This is how I know you know what you're talking about: had no idea you had a "dad bod" because you follow these tips so well. I follow alot of them myself. When I tell people how much I weigh they are always surprised mostly because I know how to dress for my body type. Two more tips I'll add to the list, confidence and having your own style. Be it a color a pattern or a trend I'm able to get away with a few things because I can wear things comfortably and confidently because it fits my personal curated style.
Thanks for this content. I had to put dating aside in order to get my business up and going, and now that it’s doing that…I’m stepping back into the dating scene. These videos help, and I appreciate them.
I tried that untucked shirt trick and I think it also draws attention to your belly because when you sit at work the shirt will grease at the hips a lot. If you stand all day it may work.
Great point on wearing a button up shirt untucked. My boyfriend is very muscular, but has a big neck and belly. I will look for a rounded hem shirts. He will not put down that fork...lol. Love your channel and I'm a real chick...heyyyy!!
This is true. I'm 6'2" 218 lbs now, I was 250 but due to health conditions I trimmed down. For the larger man dressing is a issue and proper clothing is needed. I suggest ALL big guys take heed to what he is saying.
I used to be a dad bod but after losing 26 pounds I now have a better body than when I was a teenager. Now I wear slimfit dress shirts & look cool as ever. ☺
All wonderful advice. However, at 69 years of age, and 5'11" tall, I have plenty of double breasted suits, jackets and blue blazers, and I actually find them to create a slimmer profile, at least on myself. And yes, suspenders or a military style rubber pants gripper under-belt (retains shirt and holds slacks up), are essential. Thank you, & Keep up the wonderful work Sir!
Thanks again Styles! Some helpful tips. I'm 6'4 currently weigh about 215 and I saw in one of your other vids that you said chinos make anybody look good. I found out the hard way and confirmed in this vid I look better rockin slim fit with loafers. I also checked out your chino pants link but that dude only sells up to 32 length. I'm a 34-35 length in that cut. Keep 'em coming Bro.
I’m 6’3 weigh 235 I work out 4 to 5 times a week but that belly isn’t going anywhere even if I watch what I eat I try hard to disguise my waist I’m a 36 waist thank you for the tips.. I think you are on point with your style tips and they are much appreciated I even share your videos with my son....
It is very difficult for me to find off the rack shirts that fit well and are the right length. One thing I have started doing is buying shirts from MTM companies like Tailorstore.com and Itailor.com.
@@ryjohn87 The construction is pretty good. They have several differ materials. The ones that I have tried are pretty good. You may want to look up some reviews from someone that has more knowledge than I do. I think the Kaviler has some reviews of both companies. The hard part is getting the fit right. That is a process.
@7:55 Suspenders AND a belt is a fashion faux pas. I make sure to wear under the shirt suspenders so that I can still wear a belt and not look like a total knob.
Great tips as always. I have used some of these tips as a woman. Your tips show how we differ as man and woman as well as how much we have common. Keep on keeping on .
That's me, too. 6'0" with a 30" inseam at most. In this video, O.G. mentions leaving "space" between shoe and ankle. Sounds worth a try. In fact, I can visualize that working. Also, many say wearing pants with a higher rise can give the illusion of longer legs and at the same time in our case more equalize the ratio of short legs to a long torso. All that I believe is true. Good luck. And as a first-time viewer, Thanks, O.G., for your practical advice.
How do I wear a sweater with a dad bod? I'm not that chubby, when I wear t-shirts people even say I'm skinny. But every time I put any sweater on my - that stomach just protrudes as if I'm freaking pregnant. I cannot understand why that happens
#STYLE OG....cool platform, all your information is essentially on point for myself being a 52yr. Old brotha with a dad body!! Lol... I am definitely a new subscriber on your channel..... very informative my brotha, keep up the swag and good work👊🏽😎✊🏿...I will stay tuned in....peace my brotha, #Cool V outro....
Jeff, I've been following you for a while. I was glad that this particular vid is out there for men like me. I also like the best mens body washes 2019, I have been using the Nivea for more than a year and I was happy to see that on the list. Btw, I have 'great legs' and that is why I look okay with Chino pants and Jogger pants... but no way for the ultra skinny!
Listen, these type of videos are essential. I love this dude, OG has the best fashion channel on RU-vid hands down. I love Antonio too, but it's a different vibe on this channel. I'm a slim dude, but as I get older, battling belly fat is a beast. These tips are spot on. I definitely co-sign the Blazer route too, single breasted. Plus, overcoats or top coats in the Fall/Winter. OG, this video is excelente.... Perfecto! Salute!!! Mike
Tip: - darker shirt colours, black is slimming, avoid white, - sweatshirts that are your size, oversized sweatshirts make u look bigger than u are - stand up tall, don’t slouch, - I find if u wear a shirt then a button up shirt over it, buttoned down and sleeves rolled up will make u look slim - a beard can hide a double chin but make sure to shape it
Man Jeff, I just can't wear untucked dress shirts! lol. I try not to tuck them too tight, allowing a looser, drape over the belt. But, between catholic grammar school, corporate america and religous services in my younger years...I just can't let it all hang out! lol. Man, after 52 years I can just hear my grandpa now "boy wear you goin' with your shirt lookin' that?" lol.
Soo.. if your wearing a button up under a suit jacket. Should it be untucked if your gonna take the jacket off or should you untuck it once you take it off.?
Thanks for the info, my question is; how do you find a dress shirt that fits you in the neck and the sleeves , but when you get it home the waist is too small when button it .How do you purchase a shirt correctly? Thank you
Thanks for addressing this. Full figured men are too often over-looked by stylists and the fashion industry. Yes, my full-figured brothers, we can wear more than just over- sized tee shirts and jogging pants. 😄 as far as the vertical strip shirts are concerned, I wish they were easier to find. 98% of the shirts I see on the racks are horizonal strips. My style tip would be NO BAGGY (Loose Fit or Relaxed) JEANS! They make you look bigger. When I ditched those in favor of slim cut jeans, I was surprised how much they actually slimmed me out. And stop wearing over-sized shirts! Also they make compression body shirts for men that will make you look so much better in your clothes.
6'4, 255 dad body. Working on it. Thank god for suits. You'd think that layering would only make you look bigger but damn, since I started a job which requires a suit jacket, I've noticed a lot of "up-down" looks from women.
Have you noticed the modern low waist trousers won't stay up on anyone who is over 34 waist? Trying to get proper trousers,( like Shaun Connery in Dr No, but maybe without pleats), is nearly impossible.
Loafers and low cut sneakers was a great tip, BUT... bigger guys normally have bigger/wider feet. What do you suggest for them? I hate to see men whose feet are rolling out the sides.
Late to the "party" but this is such q great vid! Can you say again what type of shirt that is with the sleeve connected to the collar? I didn't quite catch the term...
It's like this video was tailored for me. (the Dad joke on the Dad bod video). But seriously, what you are so underselling is that everything you suggest is EASY bruh! You're not talking about hours of prep and getting ready. You're talking about style to throw on and walk out the door looking good. That's so beneficial. You don't even know. I can look at this advice and think, "Damn. That doesn't even change my current routine all that much. Just gotta update some of the essentials and continue like normal."
