I went with a lengthened front drive shaft, no spacer, I also rounded the bumper to match the wheel well, running 35 with a -43 rim, a 4inch f350 lift with with springs, using factory f350 rear block and add a spring to rear, I did have to use a wedge for angle. lifted my girl almost 7inch. only change was I had to press out the rear shock upper bow tie clamps for excursion and press them into the the new shocks from the f350 kit, saved huge on having to buy an excursion kit, for some reason they are much more expensive

Great info! I'm a veteran Jeeper but new to the Excursion . My rig has 37x12.5 too and appears to have the rear lift you mentioned with the extra block, however, I believe the previous owner put f350 axles on it with front coils. The rear sags and is bouncy so I'm hoping the 6" procomp leaf spring can level it out and soften the rife for the kids in the back. Lol.. looks like I found 00-05 excursion/ 99-07 super duty procomp 6" rear leaf springs.. gonna order them today.. hope they do the trick

@@mattrobinson1727 I think as long as your front springs move the center pin forward you should be fine with a 6. I would call the company you want to get front springs from and make sure they shift the axle forward. I went with 6” F250/350 rear springs from pro comp, no blocks all spring and 4” F250/350 Pro Comp in the front. A 6” pro comp drop track bar mount and pitman arm. Adjustable length front and rear sway bar end links from Summit Racing. F250/350 rear sway bar and 33” inch tire on 10” wide wheel, front tire contacts inner wheel well just enough to rub but not rub through. 1” forward on the pin would cause front bumper contact for sure with this lift set up.
@buildsomethingstupid1736
@buildsomethingstupid1736 2 года назад
Yes they got you on the front springs! On these trucks you always have to shift the center pin forward.(that was the good part about using superlift front springs they shift forward 1" I was running 37s with zero rub) I know you think it would rub on the front but the part it rubs on is the front plastic air valance which can be very easily and neatly trimmed and it looks great. As soon as we get decent weather here (within a week or so) I will be making a simple custom plate to move my axle forward another inch as I now have 40" tires and they just barely rub my inner fender liner. So you may want to hit that subscribe button to see it when the video drops.

@buildsomethingstupid1736
@buildsomethingstupid1736 7 месяцев назад
yes! on some of these the clamp is facing with the nut on the outside where the tire can hit it because the bolt sticks through too far. If that is the case then you can trim the bolt or take it out and reverse it. If that will not give you enough clearance then you must be on stock wheels with the 35s.. needs to get aftermarket wheels with proper backspacing. I run 10 wides.

Kenny thanks for the video. I have a question about your pinion angle of the front axle. Yours look pretty in line with your drive shaft. Did you role the axle tube forward/up or did it just end up that angle with your lift? Mine is rolled down compared to yours. Thoughts?
@buildsomethingstupid1736
@buildsomethingstupid1736 2 года назад
Mine is rolled down a bit relative to the shaft. I had to manually reverse the shims on the bottom of the spring pack. I have another video about driveline angles that may help you.
@williamdecamp7343
@williamdecamp7343 2 года назад
Without proper differential angle at that lift height with no modification to front axle, you’d have terrible steering and poor handling. It would be steering the wheels downward with improper caster angle.
@buildsomethingstupid1736
@buildsomethingstupid1736 2 года назад
@@williamdecamp7343 that's why the new springs come with an angle shim. Ideally you want the differential to sit at the exact same angle as it did before relative to the truck frame. And you can purchase a front driveshaft spacer (I have a video about it)
@buildsomethingstupid1736
@buildsomethingstupid1736 2 года назад
@@williamdecamp7343 and as far as handling goes, the key is a track bar drop bracket that Is the correct size for your lift. As long as the steering bar and track bar are very close to parallel the handling is great. (And always keep your sway bar by using a drop bracket if you're mostly on road)

I don't have any clearance problems, but if you wanted maximum tire size with minimum lift, then using cut out fender flares is the best thing you can do, 40s will fit with stock height. The steel aftermarket bumper can be helpful in a some scenarios. 1) you must have already lifted the vehicle with forward pin shift 2) you must want tires too big to fit in the lift 3) you don't want to use cutout flares. Without shifting the front axle forward your tire will hit the rear of the front fender before hitting the front bumper
