Welcome to MojoPlays and today we’re facing our fears and surviving living nightmares as we once again board the Ishimura and track down the 10 biggest differences between the original and remake of this horror classic. For this list, we’ll be looking at the numerous changes and many modern quality of life improvements EA Motive made to Isaac Clark’s adventure aside from the obvious graphical facelift that’s sure to give a whole new generation night terrors. There will be spoilers ahead for both the 2008 original and remake. What was your favorite improvement made in the Dead Space Remake? Are you also hoping for a remake of Dead Space 2 in the future? I’m hoping for a dead space 2 remaster and dead space 3 remake because part 3 needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. It was ridiculous that you were missing out on the other guys campaign if you didn’t have another person to play co op with.

There's a great part where you have to reroute power and you can reroute it from either lights or oxygen. You have to choose between making it to your next objective in the dark or on a time limit and it's excellent.

@@snookegooch4024 There needs to be a heavy rewrite, pulling away from that weird love triangle focus with Ellie and Norton and the buddy-cop action movie writing with Isaac and Carver. I hope they use some horror concepts from the original DS3 ideas.

The Peeling system also acts as a diagetic "health" indicator for Necromorphs: the more skin and flesh you tear off a Necromorph's body, the less shots you'll need to sever it, thus you can easily tell which limbs are weaker and thus easier to remove and which ones are fully covered and thus would need to be whittled down. The original game simply made you have to rely on your own memory to tell whether a particular Necromorph body part has been weakened by your shots.

This is the best part of the peeling system, it's super helpful in chaotic, drawn out battles where it's easy to lose track of where enemies are

There's so much potential for the franchise now, the spin-offs can b reworked into DLCs, extraction could b an action horror co-op shooter similar to dead space 3 and ignition a stealth based survival horror similar to outlast or alien isolation

I would definitely love to see a similar remake for Dead Space 2 and maybe Dead Space 3. Although the 3rd game should stick more to its horror roots. While I liked DS3 overall. I was annoyed with being locked out of the areas that required co-op to enter. Not every game needs a multi player/co op experience.

I'm glad they got rid of that asteroid gun turret,I've died more times on that stupid section then I did to the necromorphs,the sensitivity sucked the most,and it took me a while to learn that you have to shoot the big asteroids in the center,all in all,I hated that particular section

Seems like a controller problem. Beat it on mouse first try with 81 hull integrity left and that is with handicap of having mouse issue on modern PC.

The peeling system is really great, it's really useful during big chaotic fights. If you lose track of an enemy for a second, when you find them again you can see which limbs you've already damaged, and target those

I remember in the original, the part with the pod aliens. I was playing on I think hard mode. I kept running out of ammo and had nowhere I could go for more. I had to decrease the difficulty because of it, so I wouldn't need to use as much ammo.

To be fair Isaac’s past with unitology was already there in the early designs. But to get to it you would have to get some materials additional to the game itself. Now everything is in the game so you don’t need to search for those things to know the story. Although I would still recommend searching for those things if you’re a fan!

@@windy3935 in chapter 10 Isaac sees a hallucination between him and Nicole talking to each other on the future version of FaceTime and he reveals that his mom Octavia who was a unitoligist killed his dad Poul and committed suicide. Before Isaac went to retrieve their bodies the church had already taken them and won’t reveal where they are.

This game is fun, the pulse rifle exploit helps a lot (because your gun is reloaded every time you upgrade the capacity, you pay 5k to respec the pulse rifle, get capacity upgrade, then shoot the secondary mines on the ground, then go back in the bench and upgrade to the next capacity and then shoot that clip onto the ground with the secondary fire…. then after you do that like 10 times, you pick up all the pulse rifle ammo laying on the floor, and sell it for like 15-20k, which keeps earning you 15 grand every time and later in the game when there are even more capacity slots, you can get up to like 35k in profit per exploit, and then just keep buying nodes, upgrades, and items with the insane amount of money you get…. i would suggest since it takes a lwhile to do it while you are watching tv on your phone, cause of the animations of opening and closing the bench)

Latest update 2. 6. 23 has introduced huge framerate drops. I purchased the game last night for my Xbox series X and it played smooth as butter, an update was introduced today that has caused huge blurring and framerate drops.

They also added dead space 2 piercing to the remake so your kenetic gravity thing does actual damage to necromorphs & you can stick them to walls with metal bars

I've just completed the campaign of the remake and it's dope. The only thing that I have a problem with the game is the optimization on PC.

i loved the game but there are a few nitpicky problems with it such as oxygen tanks not having a dedicated quick use, the fact that about 40% of all my ammo drops were flamethrower fuel ( i sold around 5 full stacks of it over 15 hours while using it decently often), lack of a quick turn, etc. overall it was an amazing game, a proper 10/10 but those nitpicks were really annoying at times.

When I tried to play the remake on my Xbox One (my very first experience with the series) every time I moved the camera too quickly, or something happened to quickly, the whole screen would glitch out, and then reset itself in a way. So in the beginning scene I couldn't really see the kellion crash in all its glory because the screen kept resetting. I said "screw that" and just downloaded the original for free via game pass or something. So glad I did. I think I'll just watch a playthrough of the remake instead

@@diego_solis more likely on console as that has two modes. But as a PS5 owner, it’s really hard to tell a constant difference, they did really well on the performance mode’s detail levels.

On ps5 you can't even tell a difference in frame rate between the two settings so fidelity mode is the way to go.

That was a great feature, too bad they removed it. It's rare to play a game where you care about your health so much as in DS1. The limping and heavy breathing was very immersive and made you panic a bit for medkits. In most other games it's just: ''Oh hey i have 20hp, let's take a medkit'' but in DS1 you could really feel when your character needs some milk.

i think the Callisto Protocol was not as bad as people are making it out to be… i mean there are some fun parts and it definitely scared me with 3d headphones and the room dark…. What makes it even cooler if you notice the body next to her is actually HER.This means that she is one of the first physical(Nicole's radio ones are a different story)hallucinations Isaac is experiencing.She is not truly there.

i really liked how u dont purchase weapons anymore and can refund nodes u used on them. the biggest reason for me liking this is cause the flame thrower and the pulse rifle are awful. and i wasted a good amount of nodes on the pulse rifle hoping it would make it good but it didnt. the cutter was my most used weapon

The alt fire for the flamethrower works pretty good with crowd control. Especially when combined with the force gun (gravity well)

@@Z-Mikes00 i found the pulse rifle to be garbage for normal use. took 3 grenades to kill 2 legless enemies in the 11th chapter and the regular fire even when fully upgraded to max damage still felt terrible to use. the line gun and ripper were by far the most useful guns for me. i stopped using the plasma cutter after like chapter 5 since i ran out of ammo and was getting 0 drops for it and only really used it for the tentacles and exploding guys

Just like the Resident Evil series remakes, the Dead Space remake is now the definitive experience of MY gaming. Although the original was awesome, playing the remake with it’s new side quests and multiple endings, plus the immersive horror elements, remakes of 2 and 3 should be definitely considered. EA Motive has given gamers a new reason to play this incredible game so continuing the story is a no-brainer.

I never played the original but the remake was great (barring a couple of political messages thrown in that were kinda jarring). But I was impressed enough that I'm gonna try Dead Space 2. I've heard 3 is bad though

this was the 1st game i have ever uninstalled even before getting into the 1st step of combat screen. a long and unskippable logo animation then mouse control is broken, then unbypassable intro or cutscene, after 2min... uninstalled it. was too nasty and invasive

They did Dead Space justice.The new stories,missions,peeling,character development,new characters motive/story and background. All done right. The horror is still there. If someone at EA is watching,please,PLEASE don't ruin this. Let the people who made the remake ,make 2 and 3 remakes as well. And maybe,just maybe ,give us the Dead Space 4 we waited 10 years for. No they didn’t. New Kendra’s voice actress comes across as a sASSy know it all and her character made Hammond’s take a dump. The motion capture makes the necromorphs goofy along with their new sounds. The grab animations of the necromorphs isn’t as frantic or brutal as the original. Marker was more ominous and mysterious in the original with how it was introduced than the remake. Woke shit in the remake.

@@Wildfire667 we can’t expect the player to be placed into a setting where it’s always so tight quarters, eventually the necromorphs and everything related to the marker get into more open spaces, which in combination with the necromorphs increasing in numbers at some point, the devs have to change the dynamic and playstyle to accommodate the changing story. It’s just like resident evil in how the zombie numbers are low and the story works to get the playable character stuck in tight quarters but as more humans become zombies and whatever virus Capcom makes them turn into, you get games like RE5 or RE6. While I’m not saying those are better story wise or are executed correctly to fit the growing narrative, it’s probably always a necessary evil for franchises with growing numbers of infected enemies, and they can only take the first tries and do a better mix of both in the future.

Yeah some of it. I noticed they took out female models and also the magazines of women in bikinis those were👌 and the thing with Kendra having a girlfriend was odd because in the original she had a somewhat crush on Isaac i suppose. Not sure if she was talking as if she was in Isaac's boots though so...yeah.

@Dyslunia okay, they just seemed to make it somewhat miss the mark, and i was also thinking the game isn't necessarily woke it just seemed afraid to use women models for things such as The Peng Treasure and the magazines i mentioned. If there's something else i missed let me know.

First game was scarier and so were the necromorphs, but the remake was still fun. Glad it doesn't have the shity zero g jump lol

I've played both versions and I prefer the original. In the remake, some dialogues are too long, we could identify ourselves in a mute Isaac, and the plot twist was too predictable because of all that buildup.
