I just come back home pretty much furious as I had a bad day at work, but at least Lucy has uploaded a video, and I feel better already. I finished reading Normal People about a week or so ago and I agree 100% with your review. It's just so intimate, so relatable, not pretentious and most normal (in the best of ways) book I've read in a while. Like you, I did cry a few times like reading it and I could see so much of myself in the character of Marianne! Really enjoyed it, I'm definitely going to pick up her other books as well. I'm currently reading An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and I'm currently really liking it. It's the story of this Afro-American couple who has recently got married; they both seem to have got a good career ahead of themselves and they are in love. One day, when they go to visit one of the families for an occasion, they stay at a hotel for one night, when the husband, Roy Junior, is accused of having committed a crime and is condemned to 12 years in prison, although both know for sure about his innocence. It's a bit of a love story, not so much a thriller or not so much focused on the trial itself (at least as far as I've read by now, I'm like 150 pages in), but I really like it. It's a mixture of prose and epistolary novel, definitely would recommend so far. Other I've bought recently (and will be read in my upcoming holidays) are Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton and The Word for Woman is Wilderness by Abi Andrews and I've got like 3 or 4 that I've started over the last few months but have been to busy with my final year at uni to finish reading them (among them: Why We Sleep, The Unexpected Joy of Being Single, The Wildflowers and Eat, Sweat, Play).

I was just going to have an early night when the notification for your video stopped me in my tracks. Yehhh Lucy yehhh book reviews so excited. I find it hard to pick the right book to read , so I love hearing what other readers like . Last April I got my kindle, it's the only way I can read . If I try to read a book , book I fall asleep always. Last year I read all the books you recommend and was not disappointed at all . Looking forward to giving some of these a go . I struggle with body image issues as well after I can’t really workout anymore due to pain because of my amputation. Love this as I've recently got back into reading. I used to read loads. Read 65 books one year, but then went off reading for a while but have recently started again so this video is great for me.

There’s nothing like a physical book to hold, flick through to find out where the next chapter starts and just glance at on your book shelf. I’ve tried a kindle but, as crazy as it sounds, they make me feel sad!! Great video and such a good mix of genres xx

Can I also say how awesome you recommending the body positivity book is? So many youtubers/influencers claim to be body positive by adding a hashtag and spouting phrases like; love yourself (which is fine) but you actually back it up and share with us subscribers ways to actually fundamentally feel and be body positive and help us all be in a better place when it comes to our bodies in a realistic and useful way. I just thought that genuinely needs commending!

Yes, books books books books books! 😍 I haven't read any of these but Sally Rooney has been on my TBR since forever. Your description sounds like exactly the type of thing I like to read, so I'm definitely moving them up my list. I also have the Evelyn Hardcastle on my list but now I'm not so sure 😂 Reading more about/from strong women has also been something I'm trying to consciously do, so I'll definitely check out the ones you recommend here!

WW2 themed about some badass women, but it's great because there are a few different story lines that tie together. I enjoyed seeing different perspectives and timelines puzzle-piece together. Can't wait to dive into some of these though

Finally a book video, I've been waiting for this one! I finished Friend Request last month which was a quality Lucy Wood thriller recommendation, so Close To Home is already on my TBR list. The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is extremely hyped up in my opinion. It did my head in at some point but I persisted. I think that the concept was genius but the fact that you had to keep up constantly with what was going on made the book a bit tiring. And the conclusion was not satisfactory enough to justify the mindfuck, to be honest. Plus there was a lot of fat shaming going on as well. Have you considered making a Goodreads account by the way? I love your book videos, I always end up purchasing a couple that you recommend. I love Megan Crabbe's book, I downloaded it as an audio book and its just so empowering and inspiring listening to her, she's amazing. The last book I read was Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell, I actually think it was recommended in another of your book videos! Have you read Six Four by Hideo Yokayama? Its a Japanese crime drama, a slow burner in a similar way to the millennium trilogy but I loved it.

Close to Home reminded me a bit of Lycke by Mikaela Bley, but that one is in the pov of a journalist which I found super interesting, I would really recommend you read that one if you like thrillers!

My favourite recent reads have been Convenience Store Woman & A Little Life. The former is very short, the latter is super long but they're both fantastic! I loved Normal People, I finished it yesterday. I fallen in love with Lisa Jewell since one of your last videos with Then She Was Gone in it, I Found You is my favourite by her of the ones I've read so far!

The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick obsessed with this book!!!

I've just finished An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena - another one of those that keeps you guessing until the end. Would recommend - typical thriller/detective book
