También el ito/ita le da un toque de amor a la expresión. - "Me da un cafécito?" - -(me dan un café pequeño) - - "Noo, quise decir un café normal, le digo cafécito porque amo el café?"

Sí, además a los chilenos, por alguna razón, nos gusta mucho ser tiernos y a veces hablamos cómo niños, sobre todo cuando queremos pedir algo. Es raro cuando lo ves desde fuera y muy chistoso al mismo tiempo. "Ya po tomemos una chelita, una chiquitita UwU"
Una amiga de Brasil me vino a visitar y al subir una foto de acá un amigo de ella (brasilero q vivió unos años en chile) le escribió "que wena po, partiste altiro carreteando.. pasala chancho". Mi amiga no entendió nada jaja y ella tiene un buen nivel de español. Al final el chileno es otro idioma y me encanta ❤️🤭
atención, esto constituye un lenguaje popular que no estamos obligados de utilizar. En todos los idiomas existe una lengua popular. Un ejemplo, en francés los jovenes hablan otra lengua y se vas al Canadá francés el lenguaje popular es una mezcla de jerga inglesa y francesa del lugar y toda la frase es diferente, no solo una o dos palabras.
Con respecto al lenguaje con animales es para un video laaargo y muy entretenido visto desde la perspectiva de un gringo...estaré atenta a ese video...seguro sera un buen desafio para Jhon....💪
Benzine is a French word for gasoline, in spanish bencina means gasoline too. Bomba is not for bomb, it is for pump, so bomba de bencina is pumping station for gasoline

Entre chilen@s a veces nos confundimos. Un ejemplo: hace un tiempo me encontre un amigo y le pregunte en que estaba, y me dijo: "soy bombero". Asi que le pregunte de que compañía. (Pensando que se habia hecho voluntario) y riendose me corrigió, no, que habia conseguido empleo como bombero, es decir, la persona que surte bencina/combustible en una bencinera/gasolinera. 😅
@@AmeriaSumire en Chile igual le llamamos bomberos a las personas que apagan en incendio. Acá es un cuerpo voluntario de bomberos. Es una institución que no tiene remuneración para sus miembros. Eso no quiere decir que no se entrenen profesionalmente..pero son muy valorados por la sociedad. En España son pagados ?
El tema con el diminutivo "ito", es que abusamos: "cafecito, casita, tardecita" etc y jamás me había dado cuenta hasta que ví un vídeo de Joanna Hausmann comentándolo y claro, tiene toda la razón, y si tú lo notas como algo muy chileno, debe ser incluso más! 😂
Creo que Bomba de bencina viene de la relación que existe con “artefacto para extraer un liquido” por ejemplo para sacar agua de un pozo se utiliza una motobomba de agua, antes se usaba una bomba manual y en las “estaciones de bencina” se hace eso extraer bencina desde el estanque bajo el suelo creo por eso le decimos Bomba de bencina Saludos desde Angol Tio Jon Pd: ven a conocer el Parque Nacional Nahuelbuta “ La piedra del Aguila” en la Novena region

😂😂😂Yes, Jon. "Cachai" is definitely derived from the verb "to catch", I don't use it very often, just among friends... in a coloquial situation. Since I am a teacher I care about the use of Spanish... I don't like the use of "poh", although it is very Chilean... As for the word "tío/tía" is usually used by kids to call their teachers....but also with children to call their parents's friends as a sign of respect. And about the suffix "ito/ita" most of the time we use it as to put some care or love to what you are saying...etc. But you guys also have SO many idioms and slang in English. I think maybe, the ito/ita is to not to sound too harsh...another word used to call a teacher, that is used from middle school and on, is "profe"(short for profesor)

When I was living in Anchorage I went to a Meetup for practicing Spanish and the first native speaker that I met there was a guy from Chile. He only came once and at that time no one else was there except him and I. He told me that he used the word "taita" to refer to his dad.. He said that he found out that that word was actually Euskera (Basque) not Spanish. Have you heard that word used there in Chile?
It was very much in used until about 40 years ago, some people in country areas still use it when talking about their dads in third person, but they call their father "papá" when talking to him. But it is no longer common to hear it. "Taita" has also another meaning that may be still used, it means "a master on some task" So for example I can say "Tengo un amigo que es un taita con los caballos" which means "I have a friend who really knows about horses".

"que paja" lo mismo que "que lata" ,"weon" para un amigo o llamarlo "perro" , "tio" se le puede decir igual al padre de un amigo o a los papas de tu polola o pololo cuando eres joven o a los amigos de tus padres ,"hacela corta" para que alguien se apure, tambien el "ay" al final de los verbos qe pasa mucho aca como por ejemplo "vay" o "estay" que se ve mucho en el chilenismo ahi para que agregues a tu vocabulario jon
Hola, siendo chilena amé el vídeo jaja, sólo quería aclarar algo con lo del "ito". Que nosotros lo ocupamos de dos maneras. 1) Como el resto, para hablar de algo pequeño 2) Simplemente para adornar la frase. A veces decimos cafecito, pero nos referimos a un café de tamaño normal, y bueno, entre chilenos entendemos eso jaja, pero si piensas en verdad si puede ser un poco confuso para diferenciarlos entre "ito" de pequeño e "ito" de adorno jaja. Mis favoritas son cuando usamos animales para decir distintas cosas jajaja El pasarla chancho (de pasarla bien) y pasar el chancho (muy antiguo, el chancho era una máquina enceradora que se usaba en las casas más antiguas), quedar pato (sin dinero), etc. Y las palabras brígido y cuático que siento que son imposibles de traducir de manera tal que se absorba tooodo su significado Me ha gustado mucho tu canal, saludos!!
Hola Jon, yo voy a Chile cada 7 o 10 años a veces, y siempre me tengo q “renovar” con el vocabulario de moda. Soy Chilena pero por mi modo de hablar me identifican inmediatamente que ya no vivo en el país. A mí también me cuesta ponerme al corriente con el lenguaje. "cachai" is almost exactly like when you guys say "you know" in almost any phrase.Bomba de bencina is literally "fuel pump". Ther are also called "estacion de servicio" (service station) or "servicentro" (servicenter, service center)
"Que buena, La cagó..." Faltaron las expresiones coprofilicas que son confusas pues pueden ser buena o mala dependiendo contexto y entonación como "la raja", "como el hoyo", "la cagó", " a la mierda", "a la chucha", ... Incluso puede señalar distancia... Jajaja
o el "weón" como instancia de referencia, distancia, ubicación. Ej: Cachai al weón parado en la esquina?Ahí, dobla a la derecha de altiro (de inmediato) XD

Hahahaha I’m from Colombia and for the word traffic we said “trancon” no taco. In a sentence: there is traffic, it will be: “hay mucho trancon”. "Po" es una palabra con un significado más enfático que lingüístico en Chile. Puede ser usada para darle énfasis a una frase u oración (e.g. Mañana va a estar malo el tiempo po.) O puede darle un sentido más sarcástico a una frase u oración (e.g. Pero sal de ahí po.) Si alguien "cacha" más significados, añádalos por favor 🙂
"Cachái" is pretty much like "you know". "Po" is not meaningless, it is funny when foreigners use it in wrong places. "Bomba" in "bomba de bencina" is "pump" :) . "Tío" is very common in Central Chile and among young people, I guess it began at schools some decades ago. Saludos y cuídate (po).

I’m chilean but I’ve been in your country many times so I can understand how difficult has been for you living in my country, but you are making it easier as you are such a nice person. By the way, when you were at that lake with your dad in Wisconsin, you forgot the chilean name for your water device you were pulled from the boat, that was “saca chucha”. yo! big fan here, chilean actually, "bomba de bencina" could mean like "gasoline pump" because in old times (maybe in the middle 30's, i'm not sure) chilean gasoline stations had manual pumps to drain the gas from underground tanks, that carried on and nowadays we just call them "bombas" o "servicentro". I hope it comes in handy some day.

Ejemplo: ser sapo, ser vaca, hacer una vaca, ser chancho, pasarlo chancho, se me echó la yegua, ser burro, no seas pollo, soy gallo, no seas gallina, eres una perra, ser zorrón, ser pajaron, andar pal gato, una manito de gato, ser choro, vender la pescada, el medio pescado, hacer lagartijas, ser pulpo, ser jote, ser picado a la araña, te vendieron la mula, parecer ballena, ser/tener cuero de chancho, bajate del poni, ser cotorra, ser picaflor., no seas ganso.. etc etc.... Vivo en Arizona y tengo dos nueras de Chile. Hablo mucho español aqui y los mejicanos estan acustumbrado de mi uso de "Si po" o "No po". Hay vocabulario aqui que es gringoizado (una palabra que yo invente :) ha ha) como yarda (jardin) , parquiadera (estacionamiento), raite (ride en Ingles que se usa quando quiere que alguien lo lleva en su auto). Quiero regresar a Chile un dia. Tengo mucha familia extendida alla y me encanta mucho la cultura, la comida, la gente, y la belleza natural.
No estoy nada orgullosa del mal hablar que tenemos los chilenos. Siendo el español un idioma tan rico, no lo usan e inventan estupideces. Me ha parecido muy entretenido tu vídeo y considero que has hecho una excelente interpretación de las burradas que aquí se hablan. Te sigo desde hace tiempo y te felicito. Im bilingual. I speak English and Spanish, but Chilean Spanish is so different from regular Spanish it was like learning a whole new language. So now that I’m fluent in Chilean Spanish. Jon, in Chile we add "ito" to the words with the ONLY intension to be polite, to be nice, to be lovely. In fact, when you don't use this "ito"(cafecito, pancito, tecito, ratito, besito, etc) at the end of the words, could mean you are upset or you're been rude.
Yes Tío Jon, I think we´re proud of our slang... and of the really fast way we talk! It´s a way of setting a difference with the other Spanishes you can here in Latinmaerica, you know, for me, Colombian, Venezuelian, Ecuadorian Spanish sound very similar!
la palabra "ito" aparte de significar algo pequeño también significa algo adorable por ejemplo, "ese gatito" no sólo es pequeño también adorable "aww hermosito" no significa que seas pequeñamente hermoso, sino, hermoso y tierno a la vez.

I usually make my day with the "Chilean English"...In this narrow nation the capacity to make up weird translations is endless... For instance "Between no more" ("Entre no mas") , "Make the duck" ("Hacer la pata"), or "Drink a chair" ("Tome asiento"), are so funny...On the other hand ,the lexical items vary according to the social status of the speakers...For instance "a sweater" is "chaleco" within the posh people and "chaleca" in more socially deprived areas...Also a "calzoncillo ("brief")" is called "boxers" in some areas and "slip" in others...The one who made me burst into laughter was a restaurant ad offering "Crazies with mayo" ("Abalones with mayonnaise")...

No sé si alguien ya lo menciono, pero en Chile todo lo relacionamos a los animales: "Pasarlo chancho", "hacer perro muerto", "ser vaca", "se me echo la yegua", "pintar el mono", "vender la pesca", "echar la foca", "sacar los choros del canasto", "quedar pal gato", "es terrible pavo", "quedó la zorra" y muchas más :P
Bomba de bencina it's because we don't use nafta for our cars, we use gasoline, and bomba is for the method used to sell gasoline, using a electric pump
In Spanish "Bomba" is, of course, bomb; AND pump... So that is the reason because we use the word Bomba for a gas station. Is used as well "Estación de servicio" (service station) for a Bomba de bencina...

In relation to the gas station, the word "bomba" in this case is not translated as bomb, but as pump, which refers to the equipment that pumps the benzine from the tank to the car, and well, "bencina" is obviously referred to the benzine
Many ox that words are from Mapudungun, the Mapuches native language , so that's why they are very different from any other south American Country. I am chilean, when I watch people like you I wish I could be with you so I would teach you more words or at least help you with the daily basis. we are an isolated country , and travel is very expensive because the distances are just huge if we compare to europe or USA. So, of course we have many, many, like crazy many unique words or expressions. So much so that even other hispanic have a hard time here.
