@@Brad_West Brad, just because someone does something for a long time shouldn't disqualify different perspectives from making an impact. Sure, I know a lot....but I don't know everything. Although I don't have a RU-vid channel to share my insights on, I usually am happy to give advice when solicited and sometimes when not solicited. There's an old Swedish proverb that says, "Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and dispel all doubt."

Yo Brother , I Consider Myself A Part Time Rookie And Full Time Knucklehead - However, I cleared a few for these beginner mistakes with flying colors. So That's Cool 1) I am grasping the cut game and that definitely brings flow to the rhythm of the project 2) Stoked about not over using transitions 3) Must study and become familiar with Key Board Short Cuts - You are absolutely right and thanx so much for the PDF again 4) I am far from knowing FCPX's software possibilities - Total Rookie Status 5) Thanx for all the upscale tips - Way Cool - Very Helpful 6) Organizing Footage Is Key!!! Absolutely - Specially when using multiple cameras and sound tracks 7) I am a fan of audio and always adding in audio clips and soundbites - Just began playing with the FCPX build in sound equalizers - Pretty Sweet 8) My color adjustments blow - Again, I am the common mistake maker that you are referring to - My simple elementary go to is Saturation - But pretty lame with overall color grading I am 9) Reviewing !!! Absolutely and reviewing on a different devise is brilliant - Well Said Brother Brad 10) Dig The Magnetic Timeline - FCPX is my intro to editing software so maybe I just don't know any better - But I enjoy using it and there are short cuts for moving footage / sound around - Hell, magnets in general rock I want to take the time here to personal thank you for answering ALL of my emails. I appreciate you. Having said that: Here are two simply tricks that I would recommend to you from this episode of yours. At the 6:52 mark, a wipe or whoosh sound effect would have been sweet when you were pointing to the TV. At the 7:56 mark, bird calls as that "seagull" taking flight from the railing. Feel free to use a pond splash as you tell me to go jump in a lake there rookie. A Request: Would you please create a plug in episode. I downloaded a majority ( bradwestmedia.com ) of your free plug ins > followed Your Advice > Movie Folder > Transitions are there > but they are no where to be found even after I shut down my Mac. I am still missing a ket step obviously. i.e. Knucklehead Yahooo0000 Status previously mentioned. Will head over to Creative Cow and check out the forums over there. Again, thank for all the help, thanx for the creative tutorials , and thanx for inspiring us all, Cheers

Do you know if it's possible to organize the windows on FCP workspace? I have a 49" Ultra wide monitor and it looks impossible to keep the workspace clean (only the waveforms on the left, the inspector on the right and the preview in the middle) because they keep very separated from each other. I wished I could bring everything close to the center of the monitor.
@Brad_West
@Brad_West Год назад
Your best bet is probably to drag the line between windows to resize things. You could make the browser window wider to get your video scopes closer to the middle but I think the inspector will stay on the far right. Maybe making the browser window wider and the viewer window bigger might be a good compromise.

I’m an absolute beginner (last time i edited a tiny bit was 2010 on fc on a very old mac. I’ve got a new MacBook m2 and FCPX and 1- I’d Love to learn a good, organized, workflow or as you refer to it as organization/folders etc. Otherwise i WILL make a mess of duplicate junk that will make me depressed. Also. I just uploaded my first short into FCP x ( i ripped it from my old you tube account) the screen looks insaneley scrunched up. It’s nighttime footage so it’s dark- i don’t see the timeline at all anywhere. Like i mentioned this was the first time i opened the program and imported my file. All i could see was big dark boxes- how do i make it smaller/ viewable/workable/ with a timeline. This file is not a bunch of clips-those will come later- rather it’s one 4 min clip…. I need to recut it and take some stills from some scenes. How can i get the best possible quality still from my footage? - for the cover poster. Sorry so many Qs. You’re a tremendous help so I’m sure you’ve covered some of this within your collection - if so, point me to them! Thank you so very very much!
