Hello, I'm Lyft's driver. I'll tell you. Lyft takes 70% and gives 30% to the driver. And when the car gets stuck in traffic, it charges passengers for traffic and gets all the money, but only about 0.45 cents to the driver. And when it arrives, it takes 5 minutes, which also charges passengers a lot of money and gives drivers 0.07 cents. Lyft and Uber need a thorough investigation
I have had riders cancel the ride in the middle of the ride a couple of times. What I do is find the closest building with an address on it and stop there and say you’ll have to start the ride again and because I’m closest to you I’ll probably get the ride, and you can even sit in the backseat and wait. But I will not take them another inch farther without the ride being turned back on.
That's what I should have done!!! my dumbass called Uber support they said if the rider wants to continue ( because supposedly it was an accident LOL ) to go ahead take them and they will bill them and pay me .. WELL that turned out to be at shit show. They only wanted to pay me from the point to cancel to the point of drop off I had to call three times.. I absolutely will do this next time. Or they can just get out of my car 🤗
This is what you do if anyone reports that you are drunk. you go and take a blood test and File a small claim for $10.000 I did it and got her employer to pay every two weeks $250 out of her paycheck...
I had someone request a trip last night. As soon as I completed my previous trip I received a call from the passenger. The Uber message says “a call from support” I told the guy right away I knew it was from the passenger, he immediately started cussing at me and threatening me. I stopped and call uber support right away and reported it, meanwhile the rider never canceled and was still pending. I cancelled the trip and Uber says they are investigating the rider, I assume he used a fake address and wasn’t at the location. I did sense change my communication to not allow calls, Only accepting texts with voice reader. That should stop the call scams.
I wish I would have saw this earlier I fell for the scan. Ner I was going to go pick up a rider and uber support called me through the app and I fell for it as a new driver learn my lesson
Dude seriously, I almost fell for that one… I stupidly verified my number however when they tried calling back to get my acct info I called them out and told them they were fake. Call hung up and never heard from them again.
What about when the drivers fuck over the riders? Like when they accept the ride and sit in one spot with no response, untill you cancel and they pocket the fee.
I have actually had a few of these happen to me. Lyft and Uber LITERALLY needs to add this exact video to their training video tutorials and pay you a royalty everytime a new driver watches it because it would be worth every red cent for them to do so! I only wish they had when I first started. PS: I used your code for the Octopus Rideshare Tablet. Thanks for that too by the way! I’m going to check out your Amazon recommendations later on after I quit driving for the night. Thanks again bro, stay safe out there.
Number 10 scam.. if that ride gets cancelled by the friend that ordered it within a few mins, return the rider back where you pick them. They can figure it out since they're still sober enough to figure out how to scam you.
Have you ever heard of the type of Passenger who will order a ride that's long distance for a big fair and then you take it and then when you get there and you pick them up, they changed the ride to a shorter distance? so instead of getting like $20 you only make $3
They told me that they added stop. And want me to go to another location about 1 mile further. They had small kids in the car. Then changed drop off location to return home. Was very tense situation with small children in the car. I sucked it up for the kids.
Make sure you have at least 200 rides under the belt for octopus otherwise they will tell you that you need to have more rides before they can consider you. I just started 4 days 33 rides and that's what they told me.
So to summarize: Always check with potential rider, while doors locked, with window cracked: Always have interior-exterior cameras with microphone working. Always have Uber GPS working 1. How many riders do you have (max 4) Uber X 2.Never accept any cash upfront or during rides. (site Uber recorded policy) 3. Do not hand your phone to the customer, do not take their phone. 4. Do not accept "Uber support" calls especially around having a ride or cancelled ride. 5. Always run GPS off Uber app to check for cancelled rides (drop off customer immediately at ride cancellation ( site Uber policy). 6. Never deviate drop-off location from Uber ride GPS, always offer to cancel ride if rider insists. (policy). 7. Always have running interior footage for false ride reporting per passenger (with camera timer footage) to avoid false reporting. 8. Do not accept ride if ordering rider is not riding (friend request) to avoid ride cancellations do not accept ride at pickup. (policy) 9.
I did get hacked over the phone, but luckily I had cashed out the night before and they only got $40. I went straight to uber HUB and they told me that I was the 3 driver of the day. They did give me my money back pretty easily, but I wonder how they would have handled it if it was a substantial amount.
I have never encountered the scam of riders canceling before the ride is complete. I believe if it did happen, then the directions for the ride within the UBER app would disappear (I always use UBER directions, not Google Map). In that case I would no longer know where to drop off the rider and thus I would have to let them out. I know you have been confrontational with UBER riders that cancel during the ride and drive them to the police station, but I would kindly ask them to get out and apologize for the inconvenience because it could have been UBER's fault. There is no use in getting upset at a rider for canceling. It is a waste of energy and time.
People who live in canyons where it takes 15 minutes to reach them have a tough time getting an Uber Driver to come get them for a short trip, so what they do is order a very long ride then change the trip during the ride back down the canyon. This steals money from the driver. Uber should pay the drivers to drive to the locations not just from a pick up spot. This is a real problem in Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Malibu. Rich people ripping off poor people, go figure.
I am a uber driver. When I get pinged for a passenger I see is the destination only and when I tap on the red button it wants a the customer pin. Why is it doing that? I can’t see their pick up, but only their destination. Is that a scam?
I did 40 min trip last week she only wanted give $2 tip had no cash didn’t know how pay thru app tried give me a card. I don’t think I’ll be doing a long ride with her again. She wanted control temperature and volume of music. The drop off didn’t match location in the app.
I had the phone call one happen to me, but was told to pull over and they were going to deactivate my account, so called passenger said I smelled of alcohol ,( I don't drink,), I hung up immediately and called Uber support , they documented it and apologized . not sure if I need to change my phone number
I think the biggest scam with Uber is stops. If Uber shows a fare with stops it should show where the stops are at and give you some time to react. I pick up a few people that add stops but its a crap shoot and if you figure out that a few of them are ok where its a quick stop to pick something up on the way to work or way home its ok. What I hate is the people that have figured out that drivers hate multiple stops and just show a pickup and drop off and then when you accept you see them modifying the ride multiple times. Stop to pick up their kid at school, go back home, drop off the kid but throw laundry in the car and go the laundromat, then go to McDonalds, then back to the laundromat, then back home. Kills an hour or an hour and a half and you made 20.00 bucks when you could have made 60.00 just doing normal rides. But once you get sucked in you are almost pot committed. I now just cancel when I see that. Usually never worth it. And those types never tip. I have figured our that the more difficult any trip is the less likelihood there is for a tip as these people are desperate and poor. Uber makes money off them not me. I feel sorry for all these people but they are not my problems, they are Ubers, but Uber wants to make them mine. Not any more..
Wow a lot has changed in five years I never had a scammer Thank God. And no driver should ever give over there phone to a passenger. Secondly, I suggest emptying out your earnings at $400 into your bank account or into your Uber cash card. You gotta protect yourself against these bad actors. And Uber needs to do a better job at protecting the drivers smh that is BS to be deactivated without proof.
Great information! I've been at it since COVID started with both Lyft and Uber, I also have the Play Octopus Tablet, one of the first Drivers in Toronto Canada with one! I post "Rideshare" videos too, not as popular as you though, and a different theme... looking out the front window of my vehicle, sometimes just listening to what's going on inside too.
I got scammed a few days ago.. I was 4 min away and canceled the ride so they only paid the cancle. Uber wouldn't fund me for the ride that was only 4 minutes left or tell the passage er this is fraud and warn about the account
Be careful of cops impersonating people who wanna get a ride with Uber the flagging people that Uber drivers down and ask him if they could take a ride for cash cash money it’s a scam with the cops to arrest. You be careful of that scam.
OK so let me get this right I can’t have anyone in my car but I can go pick up a rider and they can have eight people with them. Something is terribly wrong with this policy. If a person name is not on the pick up, why should I have to pick up Their whole family, I never understood this rule I remember I had a friend in my car when I went to go pick up a passenger and they had six people with them and they reported me because my best friend was in the car but they can have their killer. That’s Uncle in the car with them.
You might not believe this if you get in an accident and you tell your insurance company you was driving for Uber no one is paying I don't see nothing wrong with taking cash it's actually safer
