Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for this video. It Helped me fix the problem that I was having and spent all day trying to figure it out. Banding was my issue and I must have printed over 40 sheets and ran over 10 cleaning runs on the heads until finally stumbling across this video. Changing the paper setting to matte was the solution for me. Thank you again!

This was great - thank you! My issue is blurriness which I realize is from moving the press. I really want the clam shell version instead of my cricut square press. I need to work on that. Hello! Thank you for being here! I converted an Epson EcoTank 4760 and have been using it for months with beautiful results. Recently I let it sit for about a month and the nozzles clogged up. I bought a cleaning kit and cleaned them to no avail. I ended up running a complete nozzle cleaning/purge and that seemed to clear everything up. I ran two purge prints after the total cleaning and all the colors looked good. I then sublimated four Cricut coffee mugs and got blue splotches of ink in multiple random spots on all four mugs. I used the same ink, same A-Sub paper, Cricut mug press (so time and temp and pressure is set). The only thing different was a new heat tape that is thin and did not seem very sticky so I used more than normal and a lighter weight butcher paper, but still double layered it. I have googled the issue and folks seem to think everything from lint (I lint rolled all mugs), ink transfer from the tape or ink overspray (whatever that is). I am at a loss and I have my first craft sale coming up and I am terrified to sublimate all the other items I have! Any suggestions would be appreciated. You are absolutely my go to person for sublimation. I love your videos and all the help.
@AngieHolden
@AngieHolden 2 года назад
Try looking at the humidity in your home. See if it is really humid or really dry. That could be causing the issue. I would experiment on some 100% polyester cloth for pressing instead of ruining more blanks!

You have to have a mug with a sublimation or polyester coating. I just purchase mugs from Amazon or another retailer that say they are for sublimation. There are coatings but I have had zero luck with the ones that I have tried.

Pizza wheel tracks: We literally had to stop sublimating our own items and switch to outsourced POD instead because of this nightmare issue. We tried EVERYTHING...first we slowed down the printer, then we played with ink settings, we cleaned the wheels, then we tried removing some of the wheels (which actually helped some) and in the process accidentally pulled loose the power cord/tape for the printer head (which led to having to open up our entire printer's outer case/shell to plug it back in!). Yesterday I just learned the sub paper we were using (A-Sub 125g) is notorious for creating pizza wheel tracks because of either the paper thickness or the coating on the top of it. This was the first time I'd heard the paper could be the culprit! So we will be trying to resume sublimating at home again.

First, I don't generally use print then cut for sublimation. I might print from Design Space but I don't cut it as a general rule. Second, if you are printing from Design Space, the box should print. If it isn't, that is a Design Space issue and nothing to do with your printer.

Angie, We have #6 and #7 problems quite often. Sometimes we see a tiny dot on our printed paper (Sawgrass 1000). Sometimes we can't see them but do see a dot after pressing. We use all the correct things: sub printer, sub paper, 100% poly shirt. We preheat each shirt. Our customers will not accept with one tiny dot, so we waste a lot and don't make near as much income. We have watched videos about cleaning the printer. We have cleaned and cleaned and cleaned it. We have called Sawgrass. We cannot find anyone to service a Sawgrass printer. We are willing to pay for servicing but no one will take it on. Heat Press Nation won't take it; Sawgrass itself won't take them. Their only answer to us is to buy a new one. We bought this one a year and a half ago; we shouldn't have to spend $1500 and get a new one each year. Any suggestions further than what you have given. And, can you recommend any printer besides Sawgrass? We are willing to purchase a new one but we refuse to buy Sawgrass again since they have no service. Thanks. I hope you see this; I know the video is old. Julie

I purchased the Epson 2760 and installed the Hiipoo sublimation ink as directed. I charged the ink as directed on the printer screen. I ran the tests to calibrate the machine but I cannot get the print head nozzles clean. There are no gaps with the black ink, but several gaps in the cyan and magenta. (I can't see the yellow well enough to tell how that one looks.) I have run the cleaning cycle at least 8 times. No dice. I am reluctant to run the "Power clean" , because of the warning that it uses a LOT of ink, and might even prematurely saturate the ink pads inside, thereby needing service. Have you ever had this problem among the many Epson printers you have shown in your videos? Thank you for providing so many great videos on how to have successful sublimation products!

I' have an order for 500 Mousepads. I've been experienceing two issues I've had promles with. 1. Missing transfer stripes along the edge on one side and 2. Having a mark near the corner that looks like, when you iron something and it leaves a shiny spot. Which I assume is from too much pressure or too much time. The first 100 pads looked great. Then I took a break for a couple of days, then when I came back to start pressing again, when I staarted getting the faded spots and edge "banding". What I think really messed me up was printing a bunch of transfers in advance, letting them dry, then putting them in a ziplock pouch; thinking that would keep them from humidity getting at them. After trying numerous tricks and hacks from RU-vid, none ofwhich solved the problem; I noticed that the paper was ripply on the side where banding was appearing. No amount of pressure or preheating, got rid of the ripples. By preheating I mean, putting the pad and transfer paper in the press, with the heat platten about 2" above the ready to press project. Testing variously increasing times. Nothing would flatten the ripples enough to avoid the banding on some of the pads. Do you have a suggestion, other than tossing 200 preprinted sheets and start again with fresh prints? Sorry for the long story, but you asked for topics for future videos. I'd be glad to send you photos, so you can see for yourself exactly what I tried to describe. Or even mail a couple to you. I can't find any printing in bulk videos that cover these issues. Thank you for all the good advice!
@AngieHolden
@AngieHolden 5 месяцев назад
Definitely sounds like moisture in the paper. I generally hover the heat press over the paper to remove moisture. In this case, they may have been warped by the ziploc. I would always add dessicant packs to the ziploc if you are going to store. You could try adding several packs and leaving them overnight to see if some of the moisture would be removed.

I have printed (sublimation) dozens of Circuit Coffee Mugs using the Circuit Mug Press, both full wraps and single placement images. I use circuit heat tape and use two sheets of butcher paper. Just recently after sublimating a mug with an image after removing the butcher paper and sublimation paper there was a blue vertical line at the edge of the print almost the entire height of the 12oz mug. I did a second mug and the blue vertical line appeared once again but only about 3/4" long. My research indicates either something on the sublimation paper or caused by re-using the butcher paper. I inspected the sublimation paper after removing and there is no ink at the edges or even close to the edge. I did not notice anything on the butcher paper either (i did re-use a at least one sheet of butcher paper on the first mug, not sure about the second mug). Also during my research some have said it may be the heat resistant tape. Have you experienced this or have any inside on this issue? Thank you.

@AngieHolden
@AngieHolden Год назад
It is probably on your paper but you can't see it before pressing. My guess would be your printer is dirty or your paper is curling and hitting the print head. For the dirty printer, clean any visible areas and run plain paper through printing like one letter on each copy a few times. For curling paper, check the humidity in your space, how you store your paper, etc. Usually it is something that is causing it to curl up.

I have an Epson et 15000, no issues until about a month ago. My images look great but if magenta is a primary color then after I press I have like a like red blurry shadow around the image. I would bet a clogged printhead but I haven't come across a video that has been simple or helpful. I have been doing sublimation for 3 years almost daily and this is first time I can't fix the problem. I use cosmos ink and Texprint xphr, think it has a new name now. HELP!!!! What am I doing wrong? I'm not getting a image when I try to print on my blanks. I'm image. Here's my set-up: - Epson ET-2760 - Hippo Sublimation ink - A SUB sublimation paper printing on the side with no watermark - Cricut Easy Press 2 at 385 degrees for 40 seconds * I'm not really sure how to measure the amount of pressure I'm using but, it's roughly equivalent to the pressure I've used successfully before with sublimation transfer sheets. - Cricut t-shirt blank Things I've tried: - turned the sublimation paper over in the printer just in case I had it printing on the wrong side - used several various temp, time and pressure - made the setting changes you mentioned on the printer AND in the document (using Word) - I even printed ~ 1,250 pages of color blocks to use up all of the ink and then replaced it with a new set of Hippo Sublimation Ink * I was 99.99% sure that what was in the print was the correct ink but. I guess you'd say this was in the "grasping at straws" phase of my process😞 - And, of course, I've tried cheering it on, begging, berating and even a few prayers 🙂 I'm fairly certain that the overarching issue is Operator Error but, I need some help identifying any potential fix. I spent 30+ years working in IT so you would think I could work with this stuff a little better than this. I appreciate any help you can give me!

First I would make sure that the BOTTLES of ink you have say sublimation ink on them. Hippoo makes several different types of ink and it can get confusing. Then has their EVER been any other ink in your printer? If so, it could be residual ink. It can be a huge pain.

Do yo have a video on how to clean a sublimation printer? Specifically, a sawgrass printer. I have extra ink showing up on my pressed projects that I suspect are from extra ink smudging on the paper from the printer. It is not my heat press, because it happens with my mug press too. I am worried about the mugs and if they are good quality sublimation blanks. On the yellowing, did you use yellow heat tape and is the discoloration in those areas? That may be the issue. I would also check the time and temperature recommended by the place where you purchased the mugs. You can wash off any paper that sticks but I usually don't have that issue with mugs.
