I have got admission in IISc Bangalore for pursuing Masters in Life Science...and I am having same concern....as surviving at such top institute would absolutely not as easy as perceived from outsider POV! However, our educators motivated us by saying that those who can survive at IISc and IITs can win the world🙂 Hence, little bit nervous but a lot of excitement to start this new phase!

Most of the colleges around the world has the same thing for professors. Professors can change syllabus, they can decide their marking procedures, etc. I think it's great, except if professors are sadists. It's great in that if you look at many of foreign colleges, the professors can gauge students taking their course, and can alter the course flow, and discuss even many of the things that students request for
Why iits are good is because the teachers are given freedom to grow by research and research boosts teaching - i give credit to students as they cooperate with teachers - i give credit to directors and management as they do not interfere in academics.
