The New 14 inch m1 pro MacBook Pro from apple. Starts at 1999 with the lowest configuration that I’ll be using here. Today we’re doing a battery test and some impressions.
This time I’m mixing in some vlogging so your experiencing it with me over the months. Keeping it as natural as possible to how I personally use my macbook. With varying times, duration, and workloads
And includes Magsafe and thunderbolt charging tests.

At this point I've literally watched over 100 M1 macbook pro videos and this one was one of the best. Love the vlog style and actual documenting of real world use in real time.

This video deserves way more views. Thank you for this, I've been looking for this kind of test! Most battery tests videos just run a bunch of heavy benchmarks over and over again which is annoying because who is every going to use their laptop like that?

this is the most realistic battery test ive seen on youtube of this machine, i mean this is what it should be, real life work battery test, i mean we can clearly see that in such cases battery life is quite "normal" very decent but not the hyped up version of other youtubers saying its "INSANE battery life"

Hey great video. I also have the 14" MacBook Pro and It's never plugged in at night as I don't leave it in the office and use it to read/watch a show before going to bed. I've never lost more than 3% overnight. Something is draining your computer in the background. My i9 12th gen Asus M16 gaming laptop doesn't even loose 10% while in standby all night. You can open Activity Monitor and sort by 12 hour energy impact to see what it is. Also, HDMI, hard drives, etc, will drain the battery much faster. It might not seem like much but my T5 SSD uses over 3 watts when in use, which is basically what this entire machine uses in low brightness while reading on it at night. I use iStat Menu's to monitor wattage, CPU/GPU Usage, Etc.

Dude.. You're plugged into an external display, you edit video, you have high screen brightness.. I'm amazed at how long it lasted.

I am a fellow RU-vidr with my own channel and I also have the MacBook Pro 14”. Thank you for the video. Now I understand that it was not only me to have these kinds of performances. I also saw/heard that if you have the M1 Max it drains a lot faster! I have a M1 Pro so it is like you’ve shown. Obviously I subscribed to your channel. Really liked what you’ve done and it is always so nice to help each other .. especially if we are fellow RU-vidrs and Mac users🙏

I was going to buy the m1 MacBook Pro 13” with 16GB but when Best Buy dropped the price on the 14” MacBook Pro for $1,599 last week, I decided to go buy the 14”. Better screen, better speakers, more available ports and 1080p cam.

Space grey looks amazing.... I want to get one in that color.. But i have it online some users it scratches around the ports and magsafe area.... So i am scared of getting that color 😭

yea i've heard it's a long term thing, as in maybe in a couple yrs. however if you were to continuously miss the port and scratch the paint too many times, i'm sure it would happen prematurely.

Does Apple aware of this issue? Comparing my 14 inch mac to my old Acer laptop, it’s a big dissapointment. Something is really wrong with the battery and still looking for some offical explanation from Apple side for this issue

A big reason why your battery drained so fast was your had it mostly connected to an external monitor and that kills the battery. I noticed that with your 13 inch you didn't usually have it connected to an external monitor as you did the test mostly at home with more casual use compared to in the office with this test. I'd love to see a test where you don't connect it to external monitors and external hard drives and just use the Macbook itself, including a day of only light tasks like you did with the 13 inch to try to replicate the tests exactly, that would give a more accurate comparison. I don't feel it's a fair comparison with the 13 inch as your two tests for both were very different so we're not getting a complete comparison of both their battery potentials I'd love to see you do another one that tries to more closely replicate the 13 inch battery test

The monitor is a drain but not that much. I have the same model and see the same BBU performance. No external monitor , no peripherals , on power save mode , 1/2 brightness and pro motion on - pretty much the best for battery. Light usage (browser , videos , viber and webex calls). With this I can claim that apple marketing about the battery is absolute BS. They claim web usage up to 11h - I can't past 6. Last night a 40 min viber call costed me 40% battery. The battery is still better then any other laptop I had but its not what they claim.

MBP 14 is a waste of $. Get the 16 for EXCELLENT battery life, better thermals, and a larger screen to better enjoy the screen tech. Otherwise stick with the MB Air M1 or MBP 13 M1 for its ridiculously long battery life.

Completely disagree, and I think a lot of people do. The 16" is large and heavy, and not very portable at all. In fact I would argue even the 14" is on the larger/heavier side for being a laptop. To me (and many others) a laptop is something portable, something you can take with you almost anywhere and use at anytime. And considering they perform almost identically (assuming you go for the same specs) you don't really lose anything if you connect it into an external monitor which I think most people will do anyway. The single reason I would consider the 16" would be if you use it as your main computer without an external monitor (I personally think 16" is just way too small as a main monitor) and don't move it very much.
