Im not sure if anyone mentioned this, but those werent memory knots in your braid. They were wind knots. An easy way to prevent those is to manually flip the bail closed on your reel (with your hand, not by reeling it shut). So cast, manually close your bale with your hand, then start reeling/working your bait. Your wind knots will reduce drastically.
@EzeAdventurer
@EzeAdventurer Год назад
Thanks buddy but I ALWAYS flip my bail closed before reeling in.. never automatically... I agree there were wind knots there, something was going on just couldn't really figure it out! Thanks for the kind intention though, appreciate it!

Every time I go camping, I take along a 1" Settlers Wrench, (wood auger) and I find places to make 1" dowel-pin hangers in prime locations for places to secure hammock's or hang a back pack, etcetera from. Long ago I found it hard to locate a good place to hang something, (I've forgotten exactly what it was it's been so long, but anyway...) so the next time I went there, I took a hammer and some nails...yeah, I was a kid and I didn't know what a steel nail would do to a living tree. Lesson learned, anyways getting back to the Settlers Wrench. So 35 + odd years later until this very day, whenever I go camping, I take one with me and I still add my touch to the site(s) and I do it for my own convenience as well as those who follow along and happen across one of my previously occupied sites. Ariving at a rustic site only to find "the perfect hammock set-up" is always a bonus, as is someplace off of the ground on which to hang your pack, etcetera from, and a 1' thick 3'-4' dry peg securely hammered into place on a few of those trees sure makes things a whole lot better, especially if you've arrived late to the site as it is... This video reminds me of my trip to "Crotch Lake", (up in the Queen's Land of Canada) where I went for a week of fishing a long while back. Just beautiful !!! Thank you for sharing, and I'll be sure to subscribe. With all due respect, Mr. T.C. Cross Detroit, Michigan / USA

Hey Eze. Great video! Just curious what size that canoe was, 14 or 15 footer. And what you thought of paddling it solo. I'm in the market for a solo canoe, and am torn between those sizes. Thanks!

Hi Dan! Thanks for watching. I believe the canoe was an H20 Solo 15 foot. I absolutely loved it! Super efficient on the water, extremely lightweight for portages, decent stability, just a pleasure to paddle. I think there’s more to consider than just length, like material, width of canoe etc, all depending on what you want it for and what you value most. Eg weight, stability, durability, speed etc! Hope you find the perfect match for you and your adventures!

Loved the video. I am considering mirroring your trip in July with my 17 year old son and I wonder if you were happy with the route and would suggest I do it exactly like you did or would you change anything looking back? I do think I may break it into 11-12 days possibly but any other advice? We are both experienced paddlers and the trip seems to have a variety of rivers and lakes.

Go for the route! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I think doing it in 11-12 days would allow more downtime to enjoy, although 10 days is sufficient time to do it in too. However, allowing a couple extra days for just soaking it all in, or for wind etc never hurts, and man it's such a beautiful place! I'd recommend you hang around big trout lake a few days, it's beautiful and so quiet! Are you filming the experience? If you're not then consider a significant time saving in comparison to my trip! PS. Depending on the bugs, Grassy bay could be buggy! We had none as it was September and there was so much firewood. To me this was an indication that the site rarely gets used in summer... which begs the question... why? Bugs perhaps?

@@EzeAdventurer thank you so much for responding and we just shoot a little video and some stills for our own memories so that won’t slow us down but we do enjoy some camp time or a rest day and I think breaking your day one into 2 days may be where I’ll add an extra day and then 2 days on Big Trout lake as you suggested and setup a base camp and just fish and paddle around that lake and explore the 2nd day. I have done lots of shorter trips 3-4 days and they are not too hard to plan a route but planning a 12 day route I have been finding really overwhelming. I have watched your channel for a long time and remembered you did a 10 day trip and when I saw you had the exact route in your notes I felt a bit of relief that I could just do what you did since I am guessing you spent a lot of time working on this route. My only requirements for this trip was a mix of rivers and lakes, try and stay away from the really busy routes and get far enough in the park for a more remote experience. Seems like this route has all that. Thanks again for your help and look forward to more of your videos. The ones in the Yukon were great too.

Hi Eze, I really love your videos! There is only one thing I do not like: Why do you always keep the fishes so long in the camera and out of water, wich you will let go again? They suffer. I do not like that. A short showing in the camera should be enough, shouldn't it? Everything else you show is absolutely stunning! Thank you! 🙂

Thanks for voicing that, I tend to agree! There's always room for improvement in better practises and I'm certainly improving. I'll continue to strive for best practises in fishing, camping, environmental care etc. Thanks for the comment!

Alginquin is hardly wild. You have to queue up for canoes at busy times of the year.

Yeah I agree.. We were lucky to go during a very quiet time and didn't see many people luckily but yeah I feel the same way.. doesn't feel wild anymore.
