Although we just arrived to Japan a few months ago, we are already out on our first international adventure (away from Japan that is) to Taiwan! The timing of this trip was largely influenced by us having a few more weeks of parental leave from when Noa was born last year. There was no way we were going to let that time expire! The other event we hoped to catch was the Lantern Festival, and it did not disappoint. We had a blast seeing so much during out time in Taiwan, and honestly we had some great weather up until the final few days which made for a great trip. We loved being able to slow it down a bit for the first few days at a local tea farm house, and got to be in some beautiful areas that truly reminded us of our time in Southeast Asia back in 2018. The food was amazing, we met so many friendly people, and would love to come back sometime again.
Keep your eyes out for part 2 of our time in Taiwan, where we take you along to so many great foods that we tried and even got to make while here.
As always, thanks for watching! Please subscribe to keep following along :).

It's very sad, that the USA and most other countries don't acknowlege Taiwan as a legal state, because of the one-china politics... For me it's a legal state with it's own flag🇹🇼 , elections and economy. And we have huge economic relations with them...👍🤘🇩🇪🇹🇼

11:47- What a wonderful trip to Taiwan! I really liked how this tea grower demonstrated the many methods and concentrations of tea- and did it in a way that kept your elder little one Willa interested! BTW, virtually every human culture that had access to leafs learned to chew if not brew leafs for medicinal purposes but the Chinese [in what's now Mainland China] were the ones who first honed on the Camellia sinensis leafs and turned the brewed medicine into a comfort drink many centuries ago. Of course, when you all get more settled in your Japanese home, it would be a boon to watch if not participate in a Japanese Tea Ceremony in which every single step from selecting the leaves to drinking [and slurping] the hot brew is considered a vital part of the ritual! Taiwan sure is a beautiful island and has a fascinating culture and history so I'm glad your family has gotten to see it!

@@OurStorytoTell This is great! There's a Goethe Institut in 7 Chome-5-56 Akasaka, Minato City, Tokyo 107-0052. Maybe you can go there every now and then to practice German. And maybe look for work in the Düsseldorf area when you are ready to come back to Germany. Düsseldorf has the largest Japanese community in Germany. Nearby the Düsseldorf main train station is a Japanese district with Asian restaurants, supermarkets and stores and they celebrate Japan day once a year. Düsseldorf main train station and Airport have good connections for traveling and the ocean is close enough to do day trips to the beach.

You could probably find the Taiwanese cabbage in Asian market, I heard there's a huge portion of cabbage exported from Taiwan, and I believe Chinese cabbage would work too, remember to fry the garlic first before adding the cabbage. Taiwanese people usually use gas stove and wok to cook meals, the high heat would help the veggies to maintain crispiness and flavor and the wok would be easier to do stir fry and have less chance to get burnt.

My granddaughters are living in Bejing with their parents now. Slowly but surely it's becoming a problem that so many people want to take a picture of the girls. Some even touch them.

Yes we had to stand in front of some cameras ourselves because our girls didn’t want their picture taken, but some wouldn’t take no for an answer 😬! That’s difficult for your children and grandchildren!
