Here’s another piece of information on the Basilisk War Droid: If they ever fell in battle, Mandalorians would actually give their droids Viking-style funerals because they weren’t just treated like war droids, they were considered the noble steeds of Mandalorian warriors.
Just one thing I wish was mentioned with the Triple 0 and BT-1 is that Triple 0 had the mind of a serial killer copied on to him which is one of the things that made him so good at torture and information extraction
Honestly my favorite deadly droid is one of those nuclear spy droids used in rebels by Thrawn. First off they are sneaky with creepy phase two, and blowing one up is to cause annihilation of everything within a mile.
I was thinking of C3P-X, which I saw in one of the comics. He was almost a doppleganger for Anthony Daniels' favorite character, but for some tape on his faceplate.
I liked L-337 a LOT. I mean, not like Lando did. (Do NOT lend that man your mobile phone.) If you only take a superficial look at L-337, the droid will only ever be a bit character. If you look closer, you can see where the droid comes from, why it is the way it is. And how where it ends up casts a shadow across the Millennium Falcon through the whole franchise as Han's ship, giving the ship itself greater depth as a character in it's own right.
I do too, I see where the haters are coming from (wanting an escape from reality) she really shows how even with technological advancement things aren’t going to just turn into a Star Trek utopia. She shows how we will always have to fight for what we believe in and that that doesn’t always have a happy ending.
Is that the droid that was all about freedom, and freedom for droids. So they injected her consciousness into the Millennium Falcon, imprisoning her forever, in a kind of Hellish torture?
C-3PX is dangerous because he’s HK-47 and IG-88 combined but not a clear assassin droid, even if you just want series the E-XD spy bot series is incredibly similar and if used correctly could be incredibly dangerous assassins and spies.
Heck, he doesn't NEED a blaster. Dude can take on anything from purpose-built battle droids to the Death Star with just his built-in gadgets and piloting/repair skills. He's ALREADY unstoppable!
The ones that should’ve/could’ve been on here include: - Chopper. - R2-D2. - DT Sentry Droids. - MagnaGuards. - and B3 Ultra Battle Droids. One of them from Legends could be the YVH-1, the droid that was specifically designed to antagonize and kill Yuuzhan Vong.
More expansion on those cartoons that came on after Ben 10 . clone wars and rebels. But what about the cartoons that came on after he man Droids and Ewoks
Combat droids are all nice and that, but I still would want a G0T0 as my personal Financier, a 3PO as the other friend of my REAL friend, an Astromech...
For deadly, there is an extremely underrated one not mentioned. The lightsaber training droids in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Luke refers to it being incredibly dangerous if set to his training regimen. Remove safety protocols, give it a lightsaber, cover it's vital components in beskar plates and that is one dangerous mfer. For bonus badassery, give it a blaster in it's off hand.
Great video, Allan! Really enjoyed your breakdown of the deadliest droids in the Star Wars galaxy. Your insights into how these droids parallel modern advancements in warfare were particularly thought-provoking. Corrections: Buzz Droids' Targeting Systems: You mentioned that Buzz Droids lacked friend-or-foe identification and would attack any nearby metal target indiscriminately, including friendly ships. However, in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," Buzz Droids are shown specifically targeting enemy starfighters during the Battle of Coruscant. This suggests they do have targeting protocols to distinguish between friend and foe. L3-37's Demise: You stated that someone threw a detonator at L3-37, leading to her destruction and preventing a potential galaxy-wide droid rebellion. In "Solo: A Star Wars Story," L3-37 is actually shot by enemy forces while liberating droids on Kessel. She wasn't destroyed by an explosive device but was fatally damaged by blaster fire during the escape. Suggestions for Additional Deadly Droids: BX-Series Droid Commandos: These elite Separatist droids were more advanced than standard battle droids, with enhanced agility, tactical programming, and combat skills. They posed a significant threat to Clone Troopers and could operate independently or in squads for sabotage and assassination missions. SCORPIO: From "Star Wars: The Old Republic," SCORPIO is an advanced assassin droid with self-evolving AI. Her ability to adapt, learn, and manipulate made her a formidable opponent, challenging even the most powerful Force users. IG-RM Thug Droids: Featured in "Star Wars Rebels," these droids were used by criminal organizations like the Broken Horn Syndicate. They were strong, durable, and programmed for combat, making them deadly enforcers. Mandalorian Protector Droids: Specifically designed to guard Mandalorian vaults and secrets, these droids were equipped with advanced weaponry and beskar armor, making them incredibly tough to defeat. EV-Series Supervisor Droids (EV-9D9): While not frontline combatants, EV-9D9 units were notorious for their cruelty and efficiency in overseeing operations, including droid torture and reprogramming, which could indirectly lead to deadly outcomes. The Sith War Droids: Used during the Old Republic era, these droids were built for warfare against Jedi and Republic forces, often equipped with lightsaber-resistant armor and heavy weaponry. Again, thanks for the fantastic content! Your deep dives into Star Wars lore always make my day. Looking forward to your next video!
What about the Sentinel Droid/War Droid of KOTOR? They could also come equipped with personal energy shields and even get field upgrades for advanced targetting computers
All jokes aside, Chopper has a quite terrifying kill count. According to someone from Reddit, he has 19 confirmed and direct kills, 20 estimated kills using explosives, and about 50k estimated indirect kills via sabotage. And the crazy part is that they're only calculating for the events of Rebels!
That beginning bit is why I subscribe; taking the lessons we should be learning from Star Wars and not only spelling them out but directly connecting them to the real world. Personally i think we're still a VERY long way off from actual autonomous combat units, a computer system is just way too liable to, say, mark a civilian apartment building as an enemy bunker, and I also don't think remote control is very practical due to the proliferation of E-warfare systems on the battlefield and the limitations that puts on combat effectiveness, but it's definitely true that militaries will be looking into increased automation in order to cut down on manpower requirements.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I liked L3-37 better than K2-SO. I really like the guy who voiced K2 in other things, but I just found K2 to be more irritating than any other droid.
the later dark troopers are an insult to me, when i was in the empire, i was a phase zero dark troper, and one of the few that didn't commit suicide because i was more machine then man
I'm still amused they named a droid Elite. Elite = leet = l33t = 1337 = L3-37 And then they named a droid Admin (4D-M1N) in Star Wars Resistance. NEEEEEEEEERDS! :D
A soldier abroad, is a soldier not in their home country to defend it. When finishing a war outside....there need to be a home to come back too....Factions like the World Economic Forum that threaten to take ...all property and rights....including ownership to oneself... left unchecked...
Given how people are, editing most things before the Masses see what battlefield life is like is for the best an we never shoulda let them see. Least not till the fights was over. Its about WHY we fight NOT how or what kinda sacrifices that takes. An IF one doesn't want to shoulder the horrors an responsibilities with that they got no purpose commenting or getting any say in such matters if they got zero capacity for it. In MANY ways, key times in history, many important things effecting ALL happened in a conflict somewhere. An I disagree on the Droids, they SHOULDN'T EVER have TOTAL economy, NOT on a large scale at least. Want Skynet or a Cylon Genocide??? Cuz thats exactly why those stories happened. Missuse of too much tech and not being willing to do the unpleasant nut necessary things on life so we don't take it for granted an start getting dangerous disconnected ideas anymore then the masses already have cuz we as most societies DON'T live in such areas an don't have to even consider threats from something like it. We should be very cautious with such Tech. It IS great entertainment an peace ops stuff though
The whole dark trooper thing is just so dumb its entertaining. We're going to work through multiple versions running from armor for humans, and then cybernetics on humans...then back to an actual droid. Seriously? The institute for slowly and painfully working out the obvious strikes again.
I loved L3-37 in Solo, I wasn't aware she was disliked by fandom. I found her delightful, but then I'm not easily triggered by people being militantly progressive.
And that’s pretty much what’s happening in Gaza now , a second Vietnam . People are seeing the horrific atrocities Israel is committing everyday and the support for this horrible government is dropping everyday. Even before it started committing genocide the Israeli people were fiercely protesting against it and let’s pray that with the world opinion turning against the government the Israeli people will people able to overthrow this increasingly fascist regime
The infiltraitor Droid from Rebels comes to mind as one of the deadliest Droids that didn't make the list here. That was the Droid that found the rebel base.
2:50 I also think a lot of parents who served in Vietnam didn't want their kids to go through anything like that. I mean the stories my dad told me about him and his brother's time in the military back then I had no interest in joining, and he didn't want me to either lol
I didn't so much hate L3-37, but they made her activism comical and seemed like it was making fun of activists, even as the movie shows her pro-droid activism was actually very legitimate.
Is that the droid that was all about freedom, and freedom for droids. So they injected her conciousness into the Millenium Falcon, imprisoning her forever, in a kind of Hellish torture?
