I always wondered about the contradictions in the empires strategy about ISDs. Theyre all about cost cutting, but keep 10k dedicated stormies (not even cross trained) on each of 25k ISDs. No matter what theyre doing. Planetary siege? 10k. Long anti pirate patrol w 0 landfall? 10k. Seems rather wasteful. It would make more sense to have fully staffed quick reaction ships scattered about, with down crewed ISDs doing patrols and routine stuff. Or even pocket ISDs. (Yes,i know they eventually got there. 40 yrs later) All the money pumped into downtime troops (and prefab bases, atats etc) could have funded base hubs all over the galaxy.

Hear me out guys, tales of the clones. Disney could show us missions clones undertook that wasn’t shown in the clone wars, and it would give us a chance to see clones that weren’t featured as much like bacara, neyo, fordo, delta squad, foxtrot group, etc.

Alan, going back to Earth's Second World War, I think tthe Quasar Fire light carrier takes up the same job as a Casablanca- and Commencement Bay- class escort carriers, ships built on merchant hulls and not very sturdy (think USS St. Lo that was hit by a kamikaze)
@izumishion6267
@izumishion6267 46 минут назад
I can't argue with the reason of the ship, in times of peace, a cheaper, less "destructive" alternative is always preferred. However, they kind of went with a stupid design. The thinness of the Quasar is just asking it to be bifurcated. Also, 4 squadrons is not lot for a single ship, even a light carrier. That's 20 to 40 fighters at best. With its own defense's so low and the TIE already a flying scrapball, it's little wonder a single squadron of X-wings could run rings around these carriers. Honestly, just make it like a normal, elongated ship with 4 hanger doors on the side, hell take the Arquitens and put 4 hangers on the side and remove some guns off it. This thing is just asking to take a few turbolaser blasts then die.

Another advantage of the Quasar Fire is that nothing about it is exactly cutting edge military technology. That likely means that it could be built under contract in civilian shipyards across the galaxy, rather than tying up the important military shipyards that were pumping out ISDs and other more advanced and resource-intensive naval vessels. The thing is that the Quasar Fire is basically just a WW2 escort carrier. It's meant primarily to project starfighter coverage across the spacelanes to protect shipping from rebels or pirates, so it's not built to go up against powerful enemy capital ships because it's not meant to. It's far more important to the design that it be cheap and easy to build in large numbers than it is to be effective in large scale battles.

Replacing the venator with the quasar class carrier isn't a problem. The problem is, that they didn't replace the superiority fighters that the republic used with an equally efficient and deadly fighter model of its own. As the tie fighter and the most of its other variants apart from the defender didn't match up to either the republic fighters it preceeded or the rebel fighters it would end up fighting in the galactic civil war.

The most important thing to realize about all humans is that we all have emotions. We are not robots who are only programmed to follow orders, but we are complex organisms who have feelings and experience life in painful, yet profound ways. Life is not a straight line, therefore, we must learn to adapt to our circumstances, but we must also live with strong love and integrity. There must be a balance between flexibility and singlemindedness. With too much flexibility comes a lack of stability, but too much singlemindedness leads to a lack of humility and poor improvisation. Luminara was wrong not to show compassion, care, or urgency for her Padawan trapped under the rubble. She just accepted her Padawan's death without even trying to search for her. That is not love, that is emotional detachment. That leads to a lack of love or a poor expression of it. Emotions drive us to love with more urgency and passion. To live life without acknowledging our emotions completely takes away our humanity and turns us into robots. Love is not emotionless devotion. Love is empathetic and compassionate devotion. Attachment is when you place all your purpose for living on the life of someone else, but love is when you live for the purpose of helping others and serving out of compassion. Attachment leads to a lack of hope if you lose what you are attached to, but love always hopes and perseveres, no matter what is lost. It is natural to grieve once you lose what you love, but that's called being human. To grieve is healthy and gives you room to express the pain in your heart, but emotional detachment only leads to repressed anger, bitterness, and a lack of empathy. That's the difference between emotional detachment, attachment, and love.

The reason why this in transition period of the empire, sees their fleet be so effective and badass is because it is the fleet that the republic was supposed to have by the end of the clone wars. An all arms fleet of carriers: such as venators, backed up by missile boats: victory class destroyers, battleships in the imperator renamed imperial class destroyers and backed up by effective fleet of multiple escorts and fighters. Allowing it to patrol and protect all of its territory and meet any threat that might crop off and eventually the threat of the rebel alliance if it had been kept as it was for entirety of the empire's reign.

Out of lore reason is the Quasar was a freighter converted into a fighter carrier by Rebels in the old EU until someone in Disney stole it and presented it as a new Imperial vessel. The Tofan carrier in the old lore fit better as a lighter carrier for the Empire than the Quasar. To me, the Quasar is still the plucky Rebel Ship Fury that showcased the desperate measures the Rebels did to build their fleet.

Problem is that the numbers comparison between a battalion and legion is different, depending upon whether you go with legends or cannon lore. Though in legends, Vader post order 66, still appreciated and made use of the clones in the 501st legion, for their military efficiency and effectiveness compared to regular stormtroopers. Having the largest concentration of remaining clones in the imperial military right up to the battle of hoth.

What was the Imperial Navy thinking...using fighters at all. Slather any given ship in light laser cannons, and maybe some slightly heavier ones to use against things like the Millennium Falcon. Use calculator droids with predictive algorithms for targeting. Watch every single fighter in range get instantly popped. And frankly, they'll probably get every single torpedo, too. A weapon designed for range over anything else, while still doing at least respectable damage with a sufficient rate of fire...would outclass everything in Star Wars. At half the damage of a typical turbolaser, with double the range and an identical rate of fire, would completely remake the face of combat in Star Wars. Sure, it would take twice as many volleys to destroy a target, but you can do it from twice as far away. And you could be immune from fighters and torpedoes while you do, because of the new laser cannon set-up. It doesn't even matter if it's turbolasers, true lasers, or something else. If you can get the range...you win. Being able to shoot your enemy when they can't shoot back is the best possible advantage. It's a one-sided beating. Even if it costs a massive fortune to develop and implement...it's worth more than a dozen Death Stars.

First of all. That wasn’t the venators replacement. lol that was a type of carrier that the empire created between 14-11 bby. Where did u find it said it was the replacement for it. The empire created lots of types of carrier variants. Also the quasar costs like 2 million credits. The empire is cost efficient. 20 of these were less expensive then 1 Venator. Just have a few ships protecting the quasar.

Other than a siege weapon, an ISD served as a mobile fortress with a thousands of soldiers within its hull. However, rapid deployment was not a virtue under the Tarkin Doctrine. So hundreds of stormtroopers would be playing cards in the mess hall until it was their platoon's turn to catch the next shuttle to the planet. In other words, the ISD fails in its second function, which is deploying an army [rapidly]. The Venator I Class SD should not have been decommissioned. It should have been demoted from Capital ship to assault cruiser, where reducing the number of fighters allows for an increased number of mechanized units and maintenance of those units. Sorry, my error. The Empire decommissioned the LAAT too. So much for rapid deployment.

I love the quasar it me its a proper ship for a small force like mercenaries, well off pirates, rebels, militia, police ship that can sement them as a mid grade organization. Better than afew ships with small fighters on the sides but wount mean you can trade blows with proper militaris . You can however fight organizations smaller than you and less properly equipt or tussile with groups your size, while using it as a base to harase larger organizations but not fight them head on.

maintenance have always been the one true factor to consider and operational cost to keep a platform working throughout its life span, one of the main reasons why for example in the US Navy they replaced the F-14 with the F/A-18 is because even though the price tag to buy a brand new F-14 is cheaper then buying a brand new F-18, due to factors such as the moveable wings being a burden on crews to keep working as pretty much most other aircraft with moveable wings such as (my favorite) the F-111 also being notoriously high on maintenance partly due to the moveable wings but also as platforms age though of course designers do plan for a platform's lifespan but still generally as time goes on a aircraft's operational cost goes down more and more, especially if the infrastructure needed to it from anything like a specialized hanger that is needed to house said craft, to crews who have to be trained on how to use the tools and equipment and the experience they gain on doing so, to a specific spare part needed, if any of those things were to go down which they eventually will like the manufacturer stops producing that one spare part then now effectively that platform's operational cost and thus overall lifespan has been negatively impacted. Things like the F-18 was created as a response to these issues, learning the mistakes from the old and creating brand new infrastructure and simplified crew training and parts, that even though a brand new F-18 price tag is quite expensive, compared to its true cost its operational cost with that of the F-14, a F-18 is much cheaper in that regard. I think the Quasar more or less does the same for the Venator in that regard though obviously not taking over its role as the main carrier but it does fill a certain niche that the Venator also filled alongside being the main frontline carrier of the fleet. another tangent is that aircraft or this case starfighter readiness rate is something to consider which is how ready or how many aircraft are actually working in a fleet and not just something ready to fall apart, because aircraft and especially military aircraft are HEAVY and I mean *HEAVY* on maintenance, like what I explained already on the F-14 and F-111, you will inevitably find that not all aircraft in your inventory would be 100% working, if I recall that on public sources that the US Airforce, the no.1 most well funded and largest and most advanced and powerful airforce in the whole world right now currently reports that its entire fleet and that means ALL of its aircraft overall are at a readiness rate of 70% or something like that, that means every 10 aircraft in their inventory, only about 7 of them are actually working and thus can be used for military work, the other 3 are currently in the hanger being maintained or in rarer cases, being stripped down for spare parts, though if you have a smaller military or have a budget not as reliable or good as the US airforce like for example Russia or something then that readiness rate might be lower. So assuming the numbers are the same for both the empire and republic, the Republic has a very expensive fleet like not only probably about only 70% of their starfighters are actually working but considering a single Venator carries hundreds of aircraft of which they are all diverse and different like at least 5 different models which all perform different roles, this is a literal nightmare for flight crews who probably need to order at least 50 different spare parts just so barely maintain probably 3 different platforms while running short on the other two, with operational and logistical cost to consider then it is no huge wonder that the Empire ditched most fighter platforms and stuck to 2 or 3 for a single ship to carry, so it eases the mind of crews and to at least streamline the order of parts.
@homeonegreen9
@homeonegreen9 Час назад
On the surface ship side it is worse, generally 1/3 of the fleet is deployable at any one time. Then 1/3 is in maintenance and the remaining 1/3 is working up to be qualified for deployment. Theoretically you can surge working up ships early and delay maintenance but the longer you do that the longer a space you will have less than 1/3 deployable. There is also a limited amount of maintenance space and industry for supplies the size of an SD. The quasar can fit in a commercial maintenance bay.

Additionally the lack of shields, life support etc makes the fighter undesirable for any potential rebel groups! They are entirely dependent on their carrier, essentially an artificial leash.
