Definitely Corkscrew - it was pure fun, and as a smol thrillseeker, I appreciated a rollercoaster with a lower height limit. That said, in the years before it closed, I remember my head being bounced around like a pinball, so I understand why it had to go.
Thunder looper is still missed by me. It was such a fun ride. Loved the black hole. Ripsaw was so bad with the water jets, it was a good laugh though. I had forgotten about the beast! Love Alton towers. Went every year as a child and now I enjoy taking my kids too ❤
The Thunder Looper was amazing; It broke down every time we went, but not in such a way that they closed it; the staff simply hand pushed the cars back into position each time they weren't catapulted quickly enough to complete the loop. This just added to the fun.
Great video, great memories. Last rode Thunder Looper in 1992 and lastly in 1995. Last rode Corkscrew in 2005 along with Black Hole. Going to Alton Towers this weekend for the first time since 2005 (I think, anyway! Have been doing the parks in the States since, and lastly in the UK with Thorpe Park in 2015).
@@ThemeSeekers yes, I can imagine. I’m struggling to remember if I’ve been there since 2005? I rode Air, Ripsaw, Nemesis, Rita, Corkscrew, et al, my last trips were Nov 1992, July 1995, April 2000, June 2005. Now this weekend! Bring it aaaaawn! Start with WickerMan?
Wickerman is a great one to go on first, if it's open! It's been shut the past few days. Another new one for you would be Thirteen which we like a lot.
Sub Terra is open again now but it didn't quite work. I only saw one actor, it was funny listening to the girls scream, but ultimately it wasn't that good. Also you simply can't beat the Thunder Looper I miss the Black hole, and the Beast is essentially an outdoors black hole. Corkscrew was good. Oblivion is my new favourite.
awsum video and great use of my black hole lights on pov... the number of times i see that crop up is crazy coz of the fact that there were so few of them! certainly a few rides missing though like astrodancer/dinodancer/dynamo, enegizer/boneshaker, beastie, the cine360 dome cinemas (2 of them), tri star, the swans, 4 man bob, alton mouse, the many many many shows that were in the theatre (that would make for a video in itself, all the shows and the parade)
just a video of rethemes and moves could be interesting... like you covered with the log flume changing to the flume, there have been many rethemes of rides of the years
Ripsaw is probably the park’s biggest loss, as it was apparently something that you could enjoy simply by watching it in action. The Black Hole and The Flume are also unfortunate losses, but the latter probably wouldn’t have felt the same with the Imperial Leather sponsorship. Submission wasn’t a popular ride but it helped add a much needed flat ride to X-Sector.
If the rumours are true we’re getting a new Topspin on the same site. Hopefully it’ll either have the same theming or something that fits with the Nemesis remodel.
I think the Toyland Tours ride was revamped into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is because of the Tim Burton Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie from 2005, which turned out to be a success. Therefore the following year, Toyland Tours got refurbished and was turned into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride, closed due to the licence for Roald Dhal IP expiring and AT failing to renew the licence in relation to the impacts from the Smiler incident in 2015.
The beast wouldn't fit in the black hole tent😂 As the black hole was a jetstar 2 and the beast was a larger jetstar 3 which had a higher spiral lift and, 3 drops, instead of the 2 that the black hole had.😊
I don’t understand all these restrictions due to neighbour complaints. They live near a theme park, what do they expect? What is the issue with the rides being higher than the trees? I’m so confused by it.
