The fragrances are much more aligned with niche releases than designer releases - they’re bold and daring and polarising.. but he’s a designer not an independent / specifically a perfume house. Tom I hope you stocked up on white patchouli 😢😢
There is something sooo very satisfying in watching your top 10 lists. They’re done of my favorites to rewatch/listen to. 👍🏾 AND I love this green screen background!!! It’s your signature. Great go to. 👍🏾
"She kept wafting a dark, green, incensy thing at me"...what an awesome way to describe a fragrance. Looks like I really have to check out Decadence now! Thanks for that!
If you want to try a dupe of Midnight Poison try the fragrance shop. They sell pure perfume oil dupes of many discontinued perfumes and their very good quality.
I always revisit frags I thought I didn't like and am surprised, a really good tip although not always convenient? Is to ask a friend to wear it around you, sounds crazy but it works! That way you get a real feel for it. Go shopping with a friend, let em spray it and then see what happens. haha.
Tom Ford -White Patchouli (yes) Dolce & Gabbana-Red Cap (YES) Marc Jacobs-Decadence (yes) RED CAP IS ONE OF 2 OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE FRAGRANCES. MISHA BY MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE...THESE 2 WILL FOREVER AND EVER BE IN MY PERFUME ARSENAL.
Yay! Thanks for doing this video! Also, thank you for such kind words about my channel/video. You're very kind! Oops, I put Guerlain Shalimar on my list-- oh well? 🤣 Many of these I haven't smelled, but the 'Dolce Vita' intrigues me; the bottle reminds me of a golden moon. 🌕 Anything with a cola note or cola vibe grabs my attention. I'm going to have to seek some of these out to sniff, notably the last two. I like dark, twisted scents as well; i.e. ones that seem like a sorceress might wear them -- it sounds like 'Decadence' might fit that criteria. Great list! I'm glad you would take the bird in an emergency!
All perfumes from Thierry Mugler are the Absolute Ultimate. They are indeed empowering. Coming directly after them are Escada women and Tom Ford Violet Blonde for me.
Ooh cool topic. I have to think about this one. I have very few designers. My collection is 90% Niche. I Don’t much like many designers. But the ones I have. I love and yes I also love Samsara and Coromandel is also in my top 10. Angel and Alien are also in my top 10. We have almost the same top 10 list…lol
Oh my God....I have 7 out of 10 of your choices. I think we have similar "scentsibility". White Patchouli gives me the power to say, "I have an opinion too". If you like Alien, try Alien Essence Assolue When I wear it, it feels like an alien ship came down and picked me up.
Maybe we are scent twins? I love essence absolue but sweet things go even sweeter on me and this one is the sweetest version of Alien by far! It's lovely though.
D&G are certainly stellar with their fragrances. Obsession has cola scent as well I love it. I made my own cola perfume just with cola fragrance and canola oil it smells heavenly and I would go outside to the store with that on me. Haha I get compliments from people on my self made perfumes because they all know those life long scents and they always associate happiness with it. My chocolate perfume encourages men to talk to me ha.
I got Decadence as a gift recently, but haven’t worn it yet since it’s only started getting cold where I live. However you’ve sparked my interest in it so I’ll find a way to wear it tomorrow!!!
I like to distinguish between designer, niche and perfumer. And Guerlain is a perfumer. I have so much respect and love for houses that in hundreds of years have exclusively specialized in making perfume and ,at least until quite recently, have kept working on refining the art of it!!!!!!!! However given the choice I would have put Guerlain amongst the designers too. Greetings
I love you 😍 your so charming and I do love Michael Kors Michael was my first ever perfume I bought with my first ever salary ! I still have it for memories
Niche brands make only fragrances and scented products, Guerlain does make up and skin care as well making them designer now and not niche. Masstiege is a word I like (and made up) but muddies rather than clarifies the waters: mass market prestige brands (Cartier, Hérmes & Bvlgari spring to mind) Guerlain is definitely in that realm, hell they got seniority over most! Samsara is perfect...nice honorable mention anyhoo. Toodles 🐩 J xox 💞😘🌈 PS Kudos for including TomFord signature line; IT is designer but the Private Blends are deffo nichery!! 😋👋😂 One last question: did you ever try (or dare I hope) review the reformat D&G Intense?? You're views of the evolution of that perfume would rule. J xox
Hey John!!! Yes I did try the D&G intense...oooh lord. It's a sugary mess. But I'm biased because nothing is ever gonna compare the original. It was a total yukky revamp portrayed as the same fragrance. BAD D&G! Oh also, Joseph messaged me after my review, and has left some of his beautiful attars at my work place, cant' wait to smell em!
Michael by Michael Kors is my favorite tuberose fragrance. I love Alien, but it was an acquired taste for me because I didn’t like it the first few times I tried it. Crystal Noir EDT smells really good and it’s long lasting (I’ve never tried the EDP version).
Great list here! Can you recommend 2 or 3 others that you would consider somewhat “weird” like TF’s white patchouli. Also, same question for any other “dark twisted” frags you can recommend like Decadence?
Hello! I love your videos, thank you for sharing your experiences in the perfumery. I would like to ask that if possible show the bottles of perfumes again, I really like to see the original perfumes as you speak.
Thanks! It's not always possible to show the bottles because I don't always own them. I do reviews based on "some" bottles I own but also samples I own too. :)
Wow you do know me! The only one not in there is Stella which hurts me but only because I can’t deal with the reform. Samsara? Also not there as it’s not designer BUT.... watch the video and you will see haha. How cool!
I think this video confirms that you REALLY need to pick up the Alien Liqeuer version . I have been wearing it non stop lately , so deliciously beautiful. :)
Hi ! So when I watched this video I was puzzled as to where your beloved Stella was , but then read you where to upset to list it because of reformulated, have you tried floral street black lotus? It's very similar I'm obsessed with this perfume line , well I'm pretty sure you e smelt em , also dolce vita 😍
Ahhh I thought someone might mention stella. and you're right! But "loved" is the operative word. I can't deal with the reformulation and it hurts too much haha so, that's why it's not on the list. :)
Dolce vita was my favourite perfume but my latest bottle is so watery and the smell doesn’t hold. Unfortunately I don’t think I will buy it again ! :-(
Also not true...I own...versace black jeans, prada amber man, 212. geo sandalwood, vi et armis by beaufort, to name a few. get out of your box and open your mind...ya might find some amazing scents ya never knew.
I suggest you do not limit your fragrance choices by restricting yourself to supposedly masculine fragrances ... a lot of people just wear what they like ... and yes, men like fragrances perhaps seen as feminine and prepare yourself .... because, shock 😨 ... gasp 😧 ... horror 😱 ... some women like to wear what are perhaps construed to be masculine style fragrances. Lighten up, it's only perfume and it's meant to be enjoyed.
I'm not a "men" I'm a "man" singular. What fragrances I wear? Is up to me. I'm person who has studied fragrances and ingredients in depth. So, I am not closed minded when it comes to the way things smell. A smell is a smell... if it smells good? I'm gonna wear it. Maybe try not to be so closed minded and don't be a sheep and follow labels that tell you "pour homme" that's just dumb. There was a time where women wearing pants was weird. I'ts 2018 dude. OPEN YOUR MIND!
