did you know? you can put the x-wing vs tie-fighter cd into a normal cd player and listen to the digital remastered tracks.

I was about 18 years old when Tie Fighter came out. I loved the game so much I got a tattoo of the emperor's hand in the same place. Me thinks I might have to give this ago.

I would so badly wish they would do the same for X-Wing. I mean like 95% of the assets must already be available... that's like... a little bit of the work already done lol Honestly the issue with Star Wars as an IP is that any developer that gets the right to make a game for it wants a blockbuster title. They aren't content on just making a good game that will ship like 3 million copies. Yes there are other Space Sims... but eveything these days are free roaming open world games. I miss a good focused Military Space Sim like Freespace2 or Starlancer or X-Wing Series.

Getting a Balance of Power like campaign would be awesome.

mad found this by accident,used my original x wing alliance disc and install this mental what a good job you lot did need to crack open the usb microsoft force feedback joystick and see if that works it should do as I've tried it on other games , still got all the x wing ect originals

If only the Concourse shown here was kept for the Classic version. The new one should at the very least fit the Reimagined versions. Hmm, any chance we'll get TFTC+XWAU options (if not just render them exclusive to the Classic version) to change our cockpits back to high fidelity versions of the ones used in the original TF and XW? The new ones are nice, but they can feel a bit too advanced for someone who's very into the old ones. Multiplayer is nice, but I sure hope it becomes big and ready made enough to even make it to the big leagues of E-gaming. Not even X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter ever did that due to limitations. Would deffo love a loose ends tying up, fully voiced, and expertly scripted fan expansion pack for XWAU, particularly getting inspiration from the FreeSpace modding community and their success stories with Silent Threat: Reborn (up to the point that I actually deem this game as part of the FS1, Operation Templar, and FS2 official canon), Derelict, and, though a bit incomplete, Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius and War in Heaven.

LOL! The secondary objectives are now mandatory? That's how I always flew in Tie-Fighter. If i didn't achieve the secondary it was a FAIL for me.

Multiplayer TIE Fighter? Literally a childhood dream come true...

Somebody tell me how the new mechanics work out in practice. XWA blaster shots travel a lot faster, plus enemy aim works differently, plus with things like decoys it's much harsher on unshielded craft. I would assume missions like the one where you get betrayed (and one of the subgoals is to clear out a minefield in a T/I), which were already difficult in the original, are drastically harder in XWA.

My main issue with the engine is XWA not having a fast forward for the slow parts of the game. Or for challenge mode. Combined with not getting to jump anywhere, it could get a bit slowm

Reason to play the orginal TF is mostly the sound, voices and music, e.g. the midi music was part of the missions when things happen (like a Star Destroyer entering the system, which the orchestra didn't bother to care about, just same bland SW music all over). Hopefully this "remaster" still has the same feeling, but with the new upgraded graphic, and conent. Also, really didn't like Alliance that much either, quite boring missions.

I wish I could play. I suffered neurologic issues in 2015 and can’t really game anymore but have kept up with the projects from xwaup. Kinda depressing for me now but is what it is. It’s at least nice to look at and enjoy videos and play throughs.

So basically they let GL update it like the special editions of Star Wars that’s what this feels like. 🤣

Too bad EA's Squadrons is simplistic by comparison. The crosshairs even suck.

Is there a mod that makes the ships behave and perform like the original Tie Fighter? Why did they change this? Also is there a way to tone down the weapon flashes? They are way too exaggerated, makes me want to have a epileptic seizure.
