So cool to see one of these sailing families based out of Texas. As a Texan, I've always wondered why I don't see more online about sailing in this area.
Try those Green Fruit and Vegetable Bags and or Certain Veggies Like different Storage. Such as Potatoes Carrots & Root Based Like Cooler Drier Areas One could on a boat use desiccant - MOISTURE ABSORBANT Pack's with Root Veggies. Different Squash Lasts a Long Time There are little tips and tricks to each family of Fruit and Veggies
We found that you start living in sync with the sun, up at dawn, bed at sunset because it is a waste of daylight otherwise. We also found that the "sneakiest" change was getting quietly used to the motion of the boat so much that when you step on land it feels weird. I feel sorry for all the landlubbers, they miss out on so much.
Great to see you guys adjusting to life onboard. Olivia is really starting to become a natural on camera! She'll be stealing the show brfore you know it!
Organizing! That's something that I've been wondering about. We're about to start looking at boats and I'm wondering how much space there will be and what we'll be able to fit in (or not!). I'm hoping whatever boat we end up getting will have some clothing space. I just got rid of literally half of the clothes in my closet, but I know I'll have to get rid of (or pack away) some more!
Congrats on the clothing downsize! We've found that vacuum sealed bags help us make room for summer / winter clothes. Good luck on your sailboat shopping! There are a lot of great boats out there!
It's been a cold November/December for our area -- 35-50 degrees F. But it's really nice! Marina fees are affordable ranging from $250/mth to $600/mth for sailboats. And yes, there are a half dozen golf courses around! Happy Holidays!
I'm in Bali right now, just got approved for StarLink so I can work from ANYWHERE. you guys are a great inspiration, I'm going to get a boat soon and learn how to sail!
Love your human interest posts. With the rising costs of housing I think there’s a lot of people curious about how mix practicality and hobbies. Coincidentally I watched a channel recently called shaggy seas (near you I think) that abruptly ended. Not sure how much time they had experiencing cruising before they set off. Is living aboard and staying in a marina part of a test for yourselves to more confidently untie the lines and cruise f/t down the road (if that’s your long term plan)? Merry Christmas!!
Hey Ed! Yes for sure. Living aboard at the marina is giving us a chance to build confidence with sailing, learn how to live in a tiny home, and get our finances prepared for the loss of income when we set sail (hopefully, soon!). Merry Christmas!
Excellent video, really enjoy watching your everyday life and learning the ropes. Still trying to get my wife fully onboard with the sailing life. She still wants to live in our house we bought in Fl. We live overseas so have not lived in our home yet. Maybe Nancy can tell what changed her mind and take the big leap?
I don't think the size of the dog really effects their ability to fall off of the dock. We've been living aboard for about 10 months now and our lab has joined the off the dock club a number of times, we lost count 😆
Good question! We currently live in a marina, and they have a free pump out service 👍 However, I'm sure living in an anchorage (hopefully, soon🤞) we'll have to go out to sea and release it
