10 Dragon Pokemon Nobody Uses

Yeah I honestly do feel bad for Kingdra. Not only is it a trade evolution (which means unless you are willing to cooperate with a friend there is no way to get one) but the dragon scale item I feel is even more rarer.

I think it wouldn’t hurt for Altaria to get 30 points added to its Special Attack.

Altaria definitely is an example of a mon that didn’t age well. We all remember what a beast it was (or rather what a beast Winona’s was at least) in Gen 3, but as the dragon pool got bigger it definitely fell behind.

I genuinely love Drampa and Turtonator. I use one of each rather often in the Alolan games. It just sucks that they come so late in the runs

I remember Appletun actually performing quite well in my Sword playthrough. (A friend with Shield helped me get the right apple to evolve it)

I used Appletun in my first Shield playthrough and he preformed pretty well. I'll also fight anyone for Druddigon, actually among my favorite dragon types.

I used Flapple in my first sword playthrough and i thought it was pretty decent. Also I don't like using the more popular dragons because I think they are overrated and would rather use a Goodra or Flagpole/Hydrapple. I do quite like Baxcalibur though and did use him in my violet playthrough.

I've used Altaria and Appletun and really enjoy them,they're my favorite dragon type pokemon and they're adorable My Altaria Harmony came in clutch during my battle against Drayden in white 2 Alolan exeggutor has been helpful in Pokemon go

Poor Kingdra went from a nightmare on Claire's team to being left in the shallow end with newer Dragons, power creep against older Pokemon and having to trade to get it's final form. Why wouldn't you want a sniper seahorse to round out a team? I wish the stats were messed around with a bit or it finds a new niche, reminds me of Froslass having high Atk when it just feels like a SpAtk'er in my opinion. I hope it becomes a level-up evolution with Dragon Scale in future, there's a lot of issues that I could go into, but I won't let this drag-on any longer.

This is a very sad video, because as a Dragon Trainer like myself, I like all dragons. I will admit that these are dragons I don’t use often, however I have respect for all dragons no matter how weak or weird looking they may be. This like an oath I took for myself

Hey, Mystic, incredible news. I completed the Paldea Pokémon today! 😁😁😁

I did both a Nuzlocke and a Shiny run in Shield and in both ended using Appletun. And boy it was a beast in both runs, for most battles it was carrying the team.

I used Altaria in my Omega Ruby team and it was the first Pokemon on my team to reached level 100. I used Kingdra on my Soul Silver team (when I became capable of trading with myself). It was a pain to get since I couldn't get until after the 7th gym and I needed to level it up to the 40s to use against the 8th gym. Plus, it didn't have a wide range of moves to use. I picked it because I like it.

I specifically transferred over a horsea from gen 1 to crystal and trained and traded it to evolve it to kingdra throughout my play through. It was lengthy but I could finally use one of my favorite Pokémon in a play through.

I ran an Appleton on my Sword Gen 8 team and loved it!

Also, I love Kingdra too and it’s a bummer that I’ve never got to use one for the reasons mentioned in this video. But I can say that eviolite Seadra is fun to use lol

Hey I don't know if you knew this but Appleton and flapple ability ripen works on leftovers making it be used twice per turn

Appletun was a neat foray into defensive play for my Shield play through. The recovery aspect was new to my play style

Noivern is my favorite Dragon type design

Altaria was such a major asset to my current playthrough of Colosseum in that game its so amazing and I used Kingdra in my current HeartGold playthrough it won me the Pokemon League and as a thank you I put it through Contests in Platinum

Noivern. Seriously, if Kingdra gets on this list for being just plain hard to get in time to contribute to a playthrough, try Noivern. Noivern is a competent enough Pokémon, but Noibat either appears or just evolves so impossibly late that you're never gonna have cause to use it in a playthrough, because you're DEFINITELY not actively using Noibat up to level 48. XY's dex calls Goomy the weakest of all Dragon-type Pokémon, but Noibat actually has WORSE stats than Goomy, by a lot. (245 vs. 300 BST) I wouldn't even say it's got a better movepool or ability, either. And every game since its inception has *so* many alternatives along the way that are far more usable throughout the time it would take to evolve Noibat, and that also reach their final stage around the same time AND arguably end stronger anyway, that it just begs the question of why bother? And that REALLY hurts me, because I love Noivern! It's a top 3 Pokémon of all time for me, alongside Sandshrew and Galvantula! The design is phenomenal, and I love how much of a speedster it is. But to justify it for a team during a playthrough is just sooooo difficult. Imo it should at least overtake Altaria on this list. Yes, Altaria is generally mediocre, but it's consistently very accessible, reaches its final stage earlier than every other evolving dragon and ORAS gives it a really solid Mega that is notably accessible during the main story. If nowhere else, ORAS provides it a very strong use-case, which is more than Noivern can say. That aside, its movepool also grows quite a bit over the generations, and has included Dragon Dance since introduction. Dragon Dance is such a powerful move that it can turn even Altaria into a terrifying sweeper, as gen 3's Winona "lovingly" demonstrates...

I 100% used good boy form Zygarde and enjoyed it, even after getting enough cells I kept it that way. Drampa is also fun, but admittedly his speed was a pain to deal with. I haven't used Druddigon yet but want to, I actually like the goofier design. Kingdra is doable for me now but the item/trade evo was what prevented their use before.

Tera Electric Appletun with Rollout and Iron defence or the screens and a sitrus berry is very effective especially with Ripen.

I knew my boy Appletun wasn't coming out of this unscathed, but GOD do I love him deeply. I just love a goofy looking mon. I know the typing isn't great but it helped me build an interesting fire water grass core and was also one of the only few pokemon in the region I liked the design of upon release. The waiting is worth it for me ahaha! Anyway, I was surprised none of my other faves came up on the list!

This is why most kingdra fans indeed have 2 systems. Their love is that strong... in the DS era for sure. I would know because I bred and traded a shiny horsea JUST so I could have a shiny kingdra for a shiny dream team play-through of Heart gold.

Kingdra was my Mewtwo's #1 doubles partner back in gen 3/4. Loved that son of a gun

I don’t really use many of these dragons in play throughs, mainly because most of the time their hard to get or fairies. But I’m willing to say that I actually do like Druddigon’s design. Probably more so because of the color scheme. Regular color scheme to be more specific, shiny doesn’t look real good.

I remember the first time I went against Kingdra in G/S. He was incredibly tough only having one weakness and I lost several times before I finally beat the Pokemon. It had what seemed like great defenses, incredible typing and power. Crazy how things have changed.

Has a lot of checks (Blissey, Suicune, Milotic) but Kingdra is cool in gen 3 OU. It's used on swift swim teams, it's fun af and take hits surprisingly well. Definitely one of my favorites as a kid. Traded a horsea from fire red to emerald after the 3rd gym for a kingdra. Coolest hoenn team I've ever had

Altaria is actually a beast in Pokémon Go PVP. It’s reigned supreme in Great League for a long time, but it’s definitely outclassed in every way in the main games. 😝

I feel like at least in the Hoenn games, Altaria gets used a lot even if it doesn't ever enter the hall of fame. The other birds already have strong flying STAB by the time you get Fly so Swablu just ends up becoming the flyer by process of elimination

I would like to give an honorable mention to Noivern. Specifically in the Kalos and Alola regions. In Kalos, you don’t find a Noibat until Terminus Cave, which is honestly way too late in the game, like near the 8th gym leader. You can find Goomy on Route 14, which is like middle game. You can get the good rod and HM Fly in Coumarine City and go back and get a Skrelp for a Dragalge, in Pokémon Y. You can also get the Jaw fossil when you first visit Glittering Cave. And in Alola, USUM, you can find it in Verdant Cavern, but on the same Island you can also find a Bagon, and of course you’re going to choose the Pseudo-legend over Noivern.

yeah Guzzlord is pretty much one Dragon type that I don't use most of the time. It is just too late in game to use.

I understand flapple as appletun is more popular from what i know but i feel like people underrate its design which is sick

As someone who was born in the year of the dragon (88) this made my day and you ain't never lied about Kingdra, back in the day I traded my Sedra from my Red traded it to silver traded it to gold then back to silver where it remained in Storage at level 41 😂

You can find a wild Kingdra in some games-recently in the SwSh DLC.

Water/Dragon is a good defensive type and critical hits ignore stat drops, which means that sniper Kingdra is my favorite stellar terra right now.

I remember getting kingdra for free by fishing in route 17, 18, and p2 labs in all gen 5 you could save yourself the trade all you had to do was fish the water bubbles until that 5% appearance hit, I have the same kingdra in caught back then In my Pokémon Home Not to mention slowking and politoed appeared the same way in gen 5 just in other routes

I think the one that I really felt was Kingdra, who ya, I never get to use because of schedule issues that I have with the friend I trade with. That being said, I ride with my Flapple all day. I don't care that there are numerous better dragons, the first time I saw an apple with a worm attacking someone in a pokemon game, I was hooked. Dying to try out the sweet and hydra versions.

Oooohhh nooo!!! Ooohhhh!!!! Lol, Altaria was my main support/setup dude throughout the entire Indigo Disc!!! I love your stuff but I have to acknowledge that Altaria gets slept on. He's not here to compete with other pseudos and just generally stronger Dragons in Power and stuff.

Swablu was my frst shiny, Altaria is one of my faves!!

The biggest problem Altaria faces in Hoenn is that there's no patch of tall grass in the part of Route 115 that's accessible from Rustboro City, nor you can find it in Route 116, when your Flying type pkmn is still weak enough you can use something else in its place. When you first leave Meteor Falls, you already have a beast in Swellow & you're too close to being able to traverse the desert to care about training a weak birb to become a weak dragon birb. In all other regions you can find Swablu, it faces the same issue of being too weak of a line found euther after or just before its better alternatives. As a Druddigon user in BW, I find it a great pkmn to be a late-game cutter & Revenge + Rough Skin user, but I do keep asking myself why I'm not using the Axew line.

You know, I almost thought how different a mon alolan executor was but yeah. It's outclassed by the og version. I'll be honest though, i ran a gluttony flapple in sword. I used a couple of its recovery moves and a setup orbeetle though. I also had an orbeetle, dubwool, and iron defense corviknight too so my mons defenses were great too begin with and, post game, it was admittedly one of my shiny hunters, so I will admit it wasn't my allstar, but it wasn't my worst either.

I used Appletun in Shield and he was great ♥️🙌🏻

For gen 8 you still can use Duraludon or 1 of the Dragon Fossils

The hoops to get a kingdra definitely earn it a spot but yeah I love it. Didn't like altaria until mega evolution on alpha sapphire and it lost that awful weakness to fairy.

I used an Altaria in Emerald Kaizo, I really enjoyed having him.

I see altaria being #10. But man when I was a kid that Pokemon gave me big problems in sapphire/ruby in that 6th gym. She's right behind Whitney for hardest gym leader to me because of altaria lol

I used appltun on my sheikd playthrough and i loved him. He is a tank against a fair few in the game

honestly i'm a big fan of mystic umbreon and their best regional team videos and i can understand why many of pokemon mentioned made this particular list. as far as altaria i don't quite understand though as i caught swablu for the diamond/pearl remakes and it was unevaluable throughout, enough that i put it into pokemon home and transferred it to scarlet as soon as teal mask was released. most of the others I'd just about forgotten existed because the pokemon didn't really figure much outside the generations they were introduced in. I love kingdra though I agree with mystic umbreon that geting it the normal way is not really worth it. That being said if you can someone find a kingdra in the wild its well worth your while to catch it. I gave mine a great many calcium and iron to boost its special attack and defense stats respectively and had it learn scald, flash cannon, dragon pulse, and ice beam to take full advantage of its boosted stats. i also think that kingdra is a counterpart to flygon and garchomp. one is a deep sea dragon that can cause storms by breathing while the others are desert apex predators that hunt in sandstorms. plus the three complement each other nicely. only type weakness all three share is dragon and all three can cover that quite easily. thank you

Kingdra is my favorite mon of all time (whole Horsea line, really). I’ve built like four of them but have yet to manage to find a viable build despite it. 😢

I prefer bulky sweepers than fast sweepers even in playthroughs. Guzzlord for example though isnt tanky enough for a postgame mon

Yeah kingdra combined with Scope lens and Sniper is just insane trust me I know. One crit is all it takes and i the enemy is just gone, like that.

Unironically Flapple is my favorite dragon Pokémon. I love that little guy

For in-game playthroughs(not counting legendary, mythical, Ultra Beasts, or Paradox Pokémon), I've never used Dragonite, Kingdra, Altaria, Haxorus, Druddigon, Hydreigon, Alolan Exeggutor, Turtonator, Drampa, Flapple, Dragapult, Hisuian Goodra, or Hydrapple. I have yet to get my own copy of Legends Arceus, so I haven't used Hisuian Goodra yet. I've never used some of them due to how long it takes to get on in-game before defeating the Elite Four & Champion of their respective games. The ones I have no interest in using in-game are Druddigon and Drampa. I don't know if I'll ever consider using Turtonator. The only ones that I know I want to use someday are Kingdra, Altaria, Hisuian Goodra, Hydrapple, perhaps Alolan Exeggutor, and maybe Flapple. Dragonite, Haxorus, Hydreigon, and Dragapult are alright.

I know I'm in the minority, but on my most recent Sapphire playthrough, I had Salamanca, Flygon, and Altaria on my final team. I know it's unbalanced, but I like Dragons

I am a fan of kindra, one of my favorite pokemon because it takes little horses And gives it an upgrade in the next generation. It's one of my favorites because i'd like to shine the color it goes from blue to purple. I think the one problem with this Pokémon is. It's outclassed by other Pokémon. Why didn't it given up mega evolution regional variant or brand evolution? I whenever I don't know I feel sad for it.
