As a performer and drumming instructor myself, I thought that he did a terrific job here. A lot of fun ideas. My fav was marking the head for the sweet spot for the rim click. The only thing that I would do differently is to use the butt end of the stick for a more resonate "block" sound. But-- this does not take away from this great, cleverly put-together, very helpful video. Superb job!

@attemarttinen
@attemarttinen 8 лет назад
+The 80/20 Drummer it's an avesome trick. I do it all the time. The more beat (therefore strecthed) the old "inverted" head is, the better. It also make rimshots sound quite whacky. Brilliant. Also brilliant on toms if you want a really dry 70's porn-sound.

Good stuff, thanks for the effort to demo them all! Although I have to say that I think it's practically impossible to get good cross stick sound without flipping the stick around. With butt end up you get much beefier and more projective sound.

That hi-hat storage trick is good. The rod on mine doesn't have a locking ring in the other end, but I still take the top tube off the hi-hat stand and use the clutch to somewhat keep it from falling out. It's worked good thus far, in a hardware bag.

I have one for you. With the trend to mount the 12 or 13 tom on a snare stand I tend to remove the tom mount. As a cover plate I use kitchen laminate / formica samples. Sometimes you need to search for the right size but they can be drilled and sprayed.
