Can you and should you use a submersible light for planter tank? Will the plants still do well and grow with the light inside the water as opposed to shining down on them from above the water ??

I would advise against it. Some may technically be fine, but remember that plants will always grow towards sources of light. Depending on the positioning of the submerged light, some plants may get overshadowed by other plants and cause them to die. The only reason I can see to get one that is waterproof is if you're worried that the light might fall into the water

Great list! Your thoughts on Amazon Sword?

Easy plant, but to be honest, I don't like it one bit. It's so hard to make it fit in aquascapes that aren't Dutch style. My thoughts also share across other Echinodorus species.

@@TropiscapeAquatics Oh, ok. Well that makes sense. Being a rosette plant, they really must take up a lot of room.

@@Brensters63 No hate on those who like it and use it, though! It's just a personal preference for me

Rotala?
@TropiscapeAquatics
@TropiscapeAquatics Год назад
Depends on which Rotala species. Any of the green varients should be easy but the ones that have some red in them might grow greener or more bronze depending on a few factors. Other high-tech rotala species such as Macrandra are out of the picture

I've seen 4 meters hornwort

That is a long piece of hornwort!

@@TropiscapeAquatics yes it is , I should add that I got it from a river
@TropiscapeAquatics
@TropiscapeAquatics Год назад
@@basiliskgamer8352 I figured that was the case! I originally was thinking a lake. I can't see reason someone would let it grow that long in a aquarium lol
@basiliskgamer8352
@basiliskgamer8352 Год назад
@@TropiscapeAquatics the interesting thing about hornwort is that it kinda absorbs and holds growth potential until it finds itself in a suitable environment or situation and then it bursts with growth, I've had some really thick hornworts from different sources and after I planted them in my aquarium I've seen up to 30 cm of growth each week, it's crazy , I cut and toss that new growth and another 20cm or so next week and so on, until it slows down after a month or more.
@TropiscapeAquatics
@TropiscapeAquatics Год назад
@@basiliskgamer8352 I used to have hornwort but it grows and takes over the tank so fast that I had to stop using it. It's incredible for removing excess nutrients!
