Drums/percussion is something I have been struggling with a lot. I will study these patterns with much interest. Great to have those to learn to understand the use of percussion!

I'll admit that laying down percussion is my favourite part of the composing process - maybe something to do with the fact I'm also a drummer 😀 Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much, this also helps me learn the structures that help create such epic patterns and i can come up with new ones myself even! Really really nice percussion patterns...

It is very helpful to have your explanations on which drums were used and what part they play in the rhythm. I have always struggled with trying to determine which percussion unit to use for the desired effect. Great job. Subscribing and will follow. Thanks

Syncopation is so important for these kinds of rythms. As someone with a rock/metal background, I wasn't really used to this and as a result my epic rythms always sounded boring. Great video.

I know this is an old video, it would be nice to see the same video with you, showing what type of processing used on the different drums. The sound is clean with no muddiness. I'm constantly fighting that with my layering.

sir if you play surdos and takos sound separately then much useful for us. Play all percussion separately then paly together. Because we are beginner it's hard to understand jombo sound.

Interesting. Percussion is a tricky one for me, not in terms of producing but judging the correct application without sounding gratuitous. Back in the day when everything seemed to be all about East West I heard so much 'action' music that falls right into that cliched 'biff, bang, bop' routine of programmed loops, brass blasting, and 'chugging' staccato strings with a few bits and pieces thrown in along the way to add a bit of variety. I feel that initial novelty has now worn off in more recent times with the sampling industry and their customers becoming a little more sophisticated. That's a good thing :).
@mortengu1385

thanks for a great tutorial... did you use Damage 2 for this?
@composingacademy8270
@composingacademy8270 2 года назад
Not Damage 2, but there is one patch of Damage 1 (Studio Armageddon Kit) in one of the patterns for the toms. Its a mixture of Hans Zimmer Percussion, the 8dio Epic Dhol and Epic Toms, Spitfire Percussion and a little bit of True Strike by Project Sam
