My skinny pig smelled so much more than furry ones and I always figured it was related to the weak genetics. He was an amazing and funny pet! I'm happy to hear they are a little hardier. My little dude had to get foot surgery, seemed to heal fine, and died suddenly a few weeks later without ever seeming ill.
My skinny pig passed away January 13th :( still don’t know exactly what happened, she was weak not moving around in the cage when I woke that day, and than I was holding her and she was spitting up food. 3 hours later she died (had no way of getting to a vet that day, tried feeding her and giving her water many times tho). I have 4 other piggies (not skinny’s tho) and they are perfectly healthy ❤️
I got one skinny pig, during the summer about a month ago. I absolutely love him!! His name is Hamby. I’m always home so I am constantly with him. But I noticed after I had left almost an entire day (10-5ish) he was very very upset and scared so I realized that he really needed a friend. I got another skinny pig named Ladder to be his friend. When I went back to the pet store that sold me just the one skinny pig without letting me know I needed to get 2 because of how social they are I made sure to let them know that they should probably inform people that piggies need friends :) love your channel have a nice day!
Its so nice seeing all your skinnys again💗 angus is a cutie. Today has been rough with my pigs, had to take one to the vet and i accidentally trimmed a nail a tiny bit close and i feel awful. Everyone is okay though. It makes me feel better seeing your pigs happy and comfy :)
I’m getting mine on Wednesday and I’m incredibly excited so I’m just really trying to get in all the information I need I’ve had a normal guinea pigs before but never hairless and I am so excited for this
I use coconut oil on my Harry’s ear because he has a split from an animal attack before he was recused. I had a doggo that had a split ear and it was always dry and crusty and it always bothered him. So two hungry wheeks of approval for the coconut oil hack.
skinny pigs are just adorable, i have met one at an animal adoption center who was as cuddly as ever, so sweet and would just sit in your arms and snuggle.
I recently got into fleece because i have a lot of piggies, and i truly understand the addiction i make my own fleece and i ask to go tot he fabric store to get new patterns every week
We just got a skinny pig from our local pet store, someone surrendered him and another actual Guinea pig which is big and fat. The skinny pig looks almost like a real pig, but he has red eyes, Kinds creepy looking but adorable at the same time. So we bought the duo with the cage and accessories for $100 and to me that’s a steal because they had normal Guinea pigs with no cage for 70$. But we wanted to give the 2 little guys a forever home. This video is very helpful and explains why he jumps when we rub his back, so thank you for that bit of info!
Abby - you make things look so easy, even though i know they aren't. My GP who has had various issues off and on since we adopted her last year is so stubborn. She hates the antibiotics (we have to hold her and force her to take them while she fights us literally tooth and nail). She also will not eat recovery food or Oxbow Digestive support biscuits or Benebac gel. We also recently tried the Sherwood digestive tablets and NOPE. I just don't know what to do with her! So we often have to force these things (not the biscuits or tablets - but the benebac, medication and recovery food) in her mouth and it has not been pleasant for her or us. Would love to have a video on how to maybe encourage them to eat these products, if you have any ideas. I watch your videos and see everyone just taking their medicine or eating their tablets or biscuits or whatever and it's like HOW DOES SHE DO THAT? Maybe I just have a very stubborn pig! Thanks for your videos. :)
I want to adopt a skinny so bad but there’s none for adoption within 500 miles of me... there’s a exotic pet store in my town that has them but I don’t buy animals from pet stores.
I just rescued a skinny pig and even though the introductions went normally (typical chittering and chasing away), the poor girl can't find a place to relax. It's only day 4, but whenever she picks a spot to relax, one of my three other hairy pigs shoos her away. They're in the jumbo-sized 2x6 c+c cage, with four hard plastic hidey tubes, four water bottles, four food bowls, two stacks of hay on either side, and cuddle cups, so they have enough room, they're just asserting dominance. How long will it take for the poor skinny to be accepted? My other three bonded almost immediately.
Before I watched this video... I never would have known that my Guinea pig poops more.. I just cleaned it up. Or that he eats too much.. He eats twice A-day he seems happy. Chases my dog and my dog thinks hes OK too.
I can tell what a kind beautiful person you are! I'd love a guinea pig but was bitten by one as a kid, and I'd be worried about that. Do they need to wear their teeth down like a rabbit? Xx
Yes their teeth are open rooted just like a rabbit and just like rabbits they need to be kept in pairs or more. It is quite rare for them to bite, most of the time is more of a hard nip out of fear
I see on most websites that skinny pigs have a lifespan of 5-8 years, and i see that ones with hair actually have a 5-7 year life span. Skinny pigs can live longer now!
what was the green paste you were feeding the larger pigs? were those vitamins or some type of milk for a handreared baby, if so what age is it? I see so many blankets, is bedding not recommended for skinnys? Also would an edible tunnel be too abrasive for a skinny since theyd be crawling through the wood?
I've never heard of skinny pigs before, I was wondering if pink pigs (Sus domesticus) are just naturally fat and wanted to see if there were any skinny ones.
