looking at his chart which shows the different models of drone and the options available to that drone it looks like these goggles were specifically meant for the mavic
You can run a splitter on the HDMI for two goggles. You can buy a replacement mod from DJI like is used on the inspire 1 remote witch has hdmi input/output
Hey Alex, one question that I've yet to see addressed is about the movie watching and game playing feature. According to DJI, you're supposed to be able to use these Goggles to play games and mirror your monitor on the PC. Have you tried this out yet?
We Talk UAV Thanks for the info 👍🏼 A question though, can it be used as VR goggles ? Meaning will it use the sensors to pan the view while playing a PC game for example ? Cheers
Buz, you won't be able to use any of the internal sensors in the headset in order to play VR games. I don't know much about the sensors in these specific goggles, but the headset itself will not and does not use stereoscopic 3D, nor are there any games on the market that are designed to utilize sensors in DJIs headset. It might look like a VR headset, but those similarities begin and end with the shape.
Can buyers in Canada , get a repair shop here .My goggles battery has went dead . Can we change the battery ? Show us how . My first light blinks and when plugged in to DJI battery charger it doesnt charge . I push the button to see power and it does nothing.?
Comparing Fat Shark to the DJI Goggles is like comparing a dump truck to an airplane. they are designed to provide two very different experiences What I find amusing is people don't seem to understand DJI clearly has the ability to make exactly the same or better tech than any other FPV goggle manufacturer if they wanted to create the same experience. Now we have the Pro Goggles which can be used to fly just about anything out there with an FPV capable video source.
I am using the phantom three advanced I know I have to buy the HDMI upgrade for the remote controller. My question is will they had tracking work with the phantom three advanced
Has anyone found a way to connect them wirelessly to a PC? Or do you still have to use an HDMI cable? Would be nice to be able to sit on the couch and watch a movie from my PC...
I am planing to buy the Goggles for my DJI Matrice 100, I had few questions 1.Can we have two goggles to connect with one Matrice100? 2.what is possibilities of shearing the Thermal Camera view in to the goggles & Ipad view? 3.How many flight Modes it can Support?
Tried these goggles 2 days ago with the Mavic pro. Sad to report, if you wear bifocal glasses...very challenging to see a clear picture. I had to take tissue paper and attach it to the bridge of my glasses to raise them up. Then the picture was sharp. Otherwise you have to have another pair of glasses made only for seeing close up. This would cost another 300 US dollars. I don't wear contacts. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for answering my question about multiple goggles. Do you know why it is not possible to connect more than 2 goggles to the same camera. I would like to connect 10 at the same time.
Thank you for the detailed review and taking the time to answer all the questions. although the review was in 2017, and now its 2020, would these goggles be compatibe with the Mavic 2 Pro?
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
Alex - Great video. I'm concerned about the antenna in the head set. I don't want EMF that close to my brain - Have you asked DJI what they have done to shield our heads from electromagnetic energy?
I have the same question. I am absolutely crazy about my DJI Goggles but I need to know if some precautions may be necessary as I am currently undergoing radiation treatment for a malignant lymphoma at the back of my head about 2 cm (1 inch) from where the headband is normally positioned. I know there could be many possible causes but I need to know if my goggles are safe to use.
First of all congrats for the outstanding video making. My question: if I connect my iPad mini to the controller and then my googles, can I see the video on both or just one device at time? Thanks.
AJ Alvarez, Of course you can !!!! .. thats why they call it a "truly subversive experience". Subversive is the sister word for "submersive",- ** Note the word SUB-mersive** SUB-marine-works under water**... these words all go hand in hand. So AJ Alvarez, the world is your oyster(oysters live under water, that should tell you something), go SUB-merge yourself in that swimming pool with your DJI SUB-versive goggles. Please post the video so we can all see the amazing, far from SUB-standard, goggles in action.
I know they're illegal to use in Australia (by the operator) because it means you don't have line of sight to your drone. Is this the same in the U.S., or does the U.S. allow you to have an observer? But even that means you won't be able to fly on your own :(
Hi! I was wondering about the Epson Moverio BT-300FPV Smart Goggles comparison with the DJI Goggles which has more value in terms of better ideal usage?
Hi Alex. I’m late in acquiring a mpp yet alas it’s here. My kit came with goggles. Other videos state the goggles do have adjustable lenses for eye glass wearers yet they are made to work with glasses. I’m missing something. Also, as my goggles are sealed nib think I should sell them to help purchase the re???
Have you reviewed the dji sport edition. If so what goggles suit best drone X best? Ihope it will come a 4k wider screen and smaller less heavyer Google's 2020. Thanks for sharing.
Is anyone using these goggles for drones other than DJI? Being that there is an HDMI input on them, you can use an AV to HDMI converter to have your standard 5.8ghz video feed show in these DJI goggles. The question then would be, how much latency would there be by doing this? Any noticeable latency would likely be problematic when flying racing and acro type quads. Please test this for us! ☺️
can I ask when using googles with mavic pro how do you focus ? using your iPhone you just touch the screen and it sharpens up but you can't touch the screen, I have to say its mostly fuzzy when I fly using them with or without a lead. not worth it for me.
So I know you can do HDMI input. So that means you could watch youtube videos on your phone or computer and connect to your DJI Goggles over HDMI. That also means you could watch 360 degree video as well. So my question is, are the goggles smart enough to use your movements to watch 360 degree video? Or am I going to need to do something silly like attach my phone to my goggles? In theory this would also work with Google cardboard apps, but again, I think the app is just going to take input from your phone not the goggles right? Thanks! :) Great videos!
Right now you would need to do something silly like attach a phone or a whole laptop to the goggles because they can't use internal gyroscope to play youtube 360videos
I am 70 and my eyes are the same age, so difficult to focus to the goggles. However, I bought some welding helmet correctors that sit in the eyepieces and allow me to see clearly. These are called cheaters and allow a welder to see the pool after age 45. cheap and cheerful answer to the problem just get the correct dioptre for you.
Hi. Do you have any experience with the delay if you use the goggle with HDMI port? I am asking, as I am using the Connex Prosight HX system with has a lot latency on my race quad.
Question: I installed the optional HDMI Module on the phantom 3 controller which has a HDMI out port. Will this enable the use of the dji goggles when connected from controller port to the goggles? If yes, will the goggles allow the use of all function selections and head tracking for the camera or if not will any of them work? If this connection will not work at all there's a lot of P3 pilots that would like to be able to use the dji goggles, maybe DJI is working on something...hope hope. Thanks.
you will be able to get the live view via goggles but that as far as it goes with P3. Maybe DJI will improve the compatibility with upcoming firmwares but I don't think they focus on P3 that much after 2 years
Hi , great review. Question: connecting to a phantom with a USB cable, does that connect to the micro USB port on the RC? Hence being able to also connect a tablet simultaneously. Cheers!!
They don't, but you can use an AV to HDMI converter to do this, because there is an HDMI input on them. The question though is, how much latency would there be by doing this? Someone needs to test this.
Do you have to wear glasses for being nearsighted or farsighted? I do not wear glasses for reading but do use them for distance focus. Will I need to wear corrective glasses?
And how do you connect a iPhone and the Goggles to the Phantom 4 Pro controller? For me, only the iPhone or the Goggles work but not both of them at the same time.
Yes i only found this out after i bought them and tried it. You have to buy and install the HDMI module. then you would plug the goggles into the HDMI port. However they become just viewers with no functionality ;-(
so after you buy and install the HDMI module you plug the Ipad in as usual and the google to the HDMI port? I can understand that the Ipad will only view and not function... if in flight you unplugged the HDMI port will the Ipad take over the control and act as normal? I know this is a lot but I really want to get a set of these googles and i am actually more likley to get the RE googles than the standard ones... what do you think?
Comparing Fatshark (analogue transmission, bad video quality, no delay) with DJI Goggles (digital transmission, best video quality, significant delay) has no point. Two different technologies, as you mentioned. It's relevant to compare Connex Wireless HD Link vs DJI Goggles
just think of the Goggles being a HD Tv with a hdmi socket, so whatever device you are using, if it works thru a hdmi cable, it will work on the Goggles. so Yes it will work with the PS4
DJI offers diopter lens...$30 /pair they snap into the goggles and you can see a lot clearer. They recommend getting a number one higher than the magnifying lens you would buy at the local drug store. That's what I did, and works perfectly. Someone gave me a set of goggles last year, and the only way I could see clearly was to wear the magnifying lens glasses...so I sold them. Now, I just take off my glasses and put on the goggles with the additional lenses and can see. Hooray.
what is it that almost nobody talks in reviews ( much younger people ? about the problems when you have to use ( like i do ) a reading glasses 1.5 ....i had this DJI Goggle and had to use a 4.0 reading glasses to see it reasonable sharp....come on !! you cannot adjust the depth to the eyes or there any dioptric adapters ...like for my Fatshark goggle which is fine even without any reading glasses...i have returned this gigantic ...ugly..and heavy Goggle after 15 minutes of trial and error....brrrrrrrrrr!!
Don't know how they work with the phantom 4 pro but with the phantom 4 you loose 5 of the 8 intelligent flight modes with the goggles. The only gain is the video quality. Every where else you loose functionality.
Anyways I had fat shark goggles they're totally junk long-range can't manage the view you have to get different antenna and the battery life sucks big-time you have to buy 10 batteries....
Not sure if you're serious or not but I'll jump in: DJI googles operate on 2.4 GHz which works better for distance at the expense of image quality. Fat shark operate on various frequencies and you can swap receivers, but I'll assume your experience is with 5.8 GHz which works best for better image quality at the expense of distance. As for battery life, DJI goggles come with a 35.44 Wh battery that DJI claims provides 6 hours of use; Fat Shark comes with a 13.32Wh that provides 4 hours of use. Cheers
These SUCK unless you have a Mavic Pro. I own a P4 and they do NOT work as advertised. on a P4 *ALL flight modes are disabled except Active Track and Tap Fly. *NO you can't use eyeglasses that have progressive lens!!! * MAX height is 150 feet and 300 feet in distance! I am sure there are more short comings but I am returning them to DJI ....
They updated the firmware... and you can wear glasses under the goggles... I wear mine no problem... The Phantom 4 Pro works perfectly with the goggles...
@@danielgoldlist6330 some people probably live them they were just not a good fit for me. FWIW I sold mine a few months back for more than I paid for them seem DJI discontinued them but a lot of people want them - the person that got mine basically go a great deal because mine were pretty much brand new.
A few weeks back I have purchased a Mavic DJI FPV goggle and I have returned it. Reason, it was big and cumbersome to carry around, also, it is extremely heavy on your head. Of course, the human eyesight, particularly your pupil. Therefore, it has not been designed and developed ergonomically to suit every face or eyes. Furthermore, after approximately 1500 to 2000 meters away you will lose signal unfortunately it is useless. Finally, It is OVERPRICED.
I couldn't watch this video because whoever did the editing made way too many unnecessary and irrelevant jump cuts. It is non-stop in this video. Annoying. Someone needs to learn to edit with the viewers in mind.
A long review missing out the most important fact of all - these goggles doesnt work with even the slightest eye correction! So check your eyes before buying these since there are no way of correcting the goggles. Or you will have a $700 device blurring as hell and totally worthless.
