After 8 pm, there is a substitute rescuer.(who I think is don) he mentions “rese... I mean the uh, rescue service operator is on a break.” And to assure himself he says, “you’re a Resetti, you can do this.”
One time I was getting chased by wasps so I called for help. Note I didn’t have 100 miles for some reason. So I called and the operator got mad and said “calm down resetti”. It was cool that he still sort of in the game. just wanted to share lol
Not gonna lie, Mr Resetti shouting at me and forcing me to call myself an idiot for not saving when my DS lite went flat.. yeah, I may have wished him unemployment back then- but now? He hits different. Taught me to obsessively save every game I’ve ever played as to not regret losing progress. Poor lil guy- he was just doing his job :(
The only reason im not reastarting is becuase i have fauna she calls me pumpkin 😢😂😢 BUT HOW DO I PLEASE ISABELLE REALLY I HAVE SOOOO MANY TREES ON MY ISLAND MOST OF MY ISLAND IS JUST TREES WEEDS AND FLOWERS THE ONE PART WITH NO TREES IN THE LITTLE TOWN PART TELLL ME WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO
The think is that imo they nailed it in New Leaf. He only appeared the first time and then he wouldn't appear ever again unless you, as the mayor, created the Reset Surveillance Center, making him effectively optional
Mr resetti literally made my crt tv when playing the original game somehow lose the visual connection as if he had "reset" himself It scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, and I was also scared to read his messages fast because he would know when you skip over your messages Ngl, he gave me some interesting memories but it kindof sucks that we don't get to see him anymore, only as an Easter egg essentially
@@alextheangel9398 You need to make sure to get rid of ALL the weeds. And try putting out lots of decorations too! (Some examples: tables/chairs wherever they look cute, beach towels and coconut drinks on the beach, a lawn mower next to a house, a drinking fountain by the museum, streetlamps wherever they look nice, etc!) Good luck! I hope you get your 3-stars soon! ^_^
So when Phyllis mutters in Bebebese, she thinks she's talking in a language your character can't understand, which is actually your player character's native language? This never occurred to me before.
Fun fact: Resetti is still in the game visually. If you go to someone’s island and their switch is either low on battery or dies, you’ll se a screen of him, and then you’ll be redirected to your island.
I remember I didn't saved when someone wanted to move out, something didn't go well,... Someday he told me he would delete my savefile and I cried but turned out it was a pRaNk
Headcanon: Bebebese is the player character's native language. As Krisselia said, almost every time the player talks - like when they catch an insect or fish, find a fossil or gyroid, etc - it's in Bebebese. This happens even if other characters are set to speak in Animalese. In conversations with other animals, the animal dominates the conversation, and, in what few times the player can respond, they respond in short sentences which are sometimes shown as them nodding or shaking their head (like when a villager says they want to move away or a shopkeeper asks if the player wants to buy a certain item). When you press START while playing New Leaf, the prompt “What would you like to do?” is sounded in Bebebese, and when you save, the notice “Save completed! See you soon!” is also in Bebebese. There's not only all of this, but the player is a human, not an animal, so it makes sense that their native language would not be Animalese. The player probably learned Animalese some time before moving to the animal village. They speak Bebebese whenever they can and only speak Animalese in short sentences because Animalese is their second language.
While I don’t agree with the head canon, it’s an interesting idea. Having played every main series title except City Folk, I’ve pretty much seen it all, but there were a few tidbits in the video I found rather curious. BTW, when you write a letter, it’s also in Animalese. Take that for what you will.
the noise that accompanies on-screen text from the player doesn't sound like any kind of beeping to me, it sounds like a tapping or popping noise, like a muffled typewriter. when you're writing a letter each one you select is read aloud in animalese, so i just assumed animalese was the spoken language and when you catch a fish or whatever that's a "typing on-screen text" noise.
Kaiko Mikkusu - Agreed. You used to be able to select which one the villagers used. I think they understood that some people might find one or the other unpleasant, so they gave the players a choice. Now there’s no choices. Which one is used is keyed to events and circumstances. I’m personally glad Animalese was made the core standard. I’ve always found Bebebese rather grating after a while.
Younger me: *DS dies while playing Animal Crossing* "shoot. Now I can't play until I'm mentally prepared to face resetti. What am I going to do for the next 3 weeks....?"
@@veronicaaragon8610 yes ! i think, its been awhile since i played and i dont remember if you could exactly, but i think someone shows up at your house if you set it to your bday, so resetti couldnt come. i would test it out for you, but i no longer have the game
Resetti was yelling at me once in Wild World when I was really young, and he wouldn't stop speaking and I thought he was going to make me start my town again so I cried. And in new leaf, I used to lie and say that my battery ran out whenever he asked my why I didn't save because I was scared he was going to tell me off
Oh, in city folk, I pressed the button for “my battery died” and he said that ur on a wii system and they can’t die, and then he continued yelled at me
In Japanese folk tales the racoons dog, like Tom Nook would transform leaves into money or other objects. I guess that explains why the furniture turns into a leaf and fits in your pocket. If you think about it, all furniture on the island doesn't really exist. Including what Timmy and Tommy sell in the shop. Also explains how a refrigerator fit in a present floating by in a balloon.
And a toilet falling out of a tree. (It is in a leaf in Animal Crossing but in real life nobody normally would randomly have a toilet falling out of a tree)
Actually there are 4 languages. The three you mentioned and the alien language. Apparently at a sertain time at night if you turn on a tv theres an alien broadcast. The alien speaks another language thats not any of which you said. Its quite fascinating. Your video is great and I'd love to see more!
This is correct! I was referring to the languages you used to be able to choose from in Wild World and City Folk, but the aliens do have their own funky language.
I remember being freaked out by the aliens when I was younger! When I still used my DS, I would secretly play it really late at night and I turned on the TV in my house at around 3am. I saw the aliens and got so freaked out and for some reason thought my Juicy Apple TV was cursed. It was a gift from one of my first villagers, Phil, and now any time anyone mentions Phil it reminds me of how scared I was playing Animal Crossing at 3am when I was six.
resetti used to make me cry as a kid in wild world too. I remember having to type out “I am dirt” 10 times but not being able to spell properly because I was like 4
Remember when Moshi Monsters did the Justin Beaver pun first, but then Lady Gaga got pissy over Lady Googoo and they had to change every pun real quick...? Ah, good times.
Lady Gaga didnt throw a hissy fit, she sued them because young kids would think that she actually collabed with them and Mushi Monsters changed Justin just in case
In Wild World you could tell Celeste that she's adorable. If the Player was female then Celeste would tell the Player that the Player is very soul of all that is adorable with Celeste blushing. If the Player was male then she would tell the Player not to tease her and become distressed.
@Emissary Of Infinity City folk is pretty much an HD version of wild world with higher quality versions of the same music, models and other things along with some new features. If you're looking for some nostalgia I highly recommend it!
@@ulltra2502 I never played wild world, I only had city folk and the other day I tried to get it working again but my wii won't read any discs, I think it just has dust and stuff inside of it but my little sister thinks its cuz I put a Sega sticker on it cuz im that evil
Just thought I'd share my favorite Resetti moment: Somewhat recently, I started up City Folk for some nostalgia and I was greeted with Resetti. He was screaming about me resetting then said HE was going to reset the game to see how I liked it. I was laughing my head off, but THEN THE SCREEN WENT BLACK. My laughter turned to silence- I flipped out thinking the game was going to be in an infinite reset loop or something!! (since the game wouldn't save) Seconds later, the screen turned back to normal. Resetti was laughing at me- that felt like a surreal 4th wall break of something. classic.
I feel kind of like I'm turning into Redd when I'm in there, also is it just me and my friend who thought we were stuck in Redd's boat the first time we went in in ACNH, cause it's really dark and you have to turn right to get out but we were a little scared
To me some of the most interesting animal crossing facts is that the first animal crossing was released 6-7 times, Redd scammed Tom Nook out of all his money way back when, and that in New Horizons you roll up the sleeves on some of your shirts (Like kimonos) when you have a tool equipped.
Yeah, Sable says Nook was originally a carefree and bright-eyed young guy but came back from the city completely different, much more cynical and driven only by money. The Able Sisters' lore is really cool too.
despite having a massive fear of bugs, blathers still goes into the bug exhibit daily, this is shown by the fact that the flowers in the butterfly room are sparkling, and they only sparkle if they have been watered that day
I saw a comic dub called “wanna hear a joke” and it was about redd telling the player a joke about how his ex still misses him and that he should get better aim, then cuts to Tom book shooting at redd
All the new characters phasing out old ones is part of the ‘new horizon’. Like the old passing the torches to their kids. Not sure why no one hasn’t really addressed this for a reason why characters are being replaced.
Hopefully the older characters can make an appearance, if only for a short time. I would love to see the characters many people grew up with in game. (Despite being about as old as Animal Crossing I never grew up with any consoles until around age 12, so I'm a newer player.)
Imagine them making a kid version of Resetti who appears whenever the switch runs out of power and the kid version of resetti (kindly) reminds you to charge your switch. Idk I just find it weird that Resetti doesn’t have a kid version like the others.
Resetti made me cry in Wild World... I was 11... and my dad saw and he yelled at me... So when you say Nintendo says he makes little girls cry... I started to cry again... *sigh*
If I remember correctly, Blathers actually *can* fly. I have his amiibo, so when I used it for Desert Island Escape on New Leaf, he was able to fly. I don't know about Celeste tho, I don't have her amiibo so I can't check ;/ Of course, it's just a minigame so there's a chance it doesn't interfere with the actual Blathers.
I’ve seen so many inaccurate “animal crossing history” videos, people always say the GameCube is the first game and it really pisses me off, thank you for knowing the game goes back much further!!!
Actually they gave Resetti an anti piracy function as well! He acts as a security guard and escorts your player to jail in new horizons if you try to pirate the game (steal the game online to play yourself without actually having to buy it) Right as you give tommy and Timmy your information, the normal lady that comes over the intercom will say someone tried to board the plane with an unauthorized ticket and the alarm music plays (same music as when you use rescue services to be rescued) and resetti yells at you. “What you think this is YOUR switch and you can do whatever you want!?” And then a cut away to a black screen and the player finds themselves behind bars, while villagers taunt them by taking pictures and laughing and a message appears on screen saying “You seem to be playing an unauthentic version of this game. Your game has been severely restricted.”
I used to be the Animalese type, but I ended up using Bebebese nowadays to give message boxes a Mega Man X or Phoenix Wright feel, as those games use some kind of typewriter sounds whenever a character gets typed into the message box.
With the language fact, it's also worth mentioning that player characters that you meet in New Leaf's HHA Showcase and the Dream Towns will speak Animalese like a normal villager. Interestingly, the voices they use aren't used by any other characters in New Leaf.
mr resetti made me cry lol! i got a used animal crossing game when i was little and when i played it the old save was still there and the first thing i saw was him yelling at me and i started crying 😂
bebebese afaik is just the sort of clicky/beepy noise that many games used to accompany text boxes in the era prior to voice acting being able to be used for everything (like JRPG games in the snes era are an example) I'd have to double check but i don't remember bebebese encoding anymore than monotone beeps for roughly the lenght of text anyways
As a Scandinavian I cry every time I hear Leif mispronounced as "leaf". Leif pronounced correctly is a flowery cute name, just think of it as lei - hawaiian flower wreath - with an f on the end. Why you all gotta choose to DiSrEsPeCt my cute flower boy Leif like this D:
It's not that it's pronounced incorrectly, it's that in the US primarily the name is pronounced differently. I've known a Leif who insisted his name be said as "Leaf." Also, he sells plants, so the pun makes itself. It's like the name Eoin, in Ireland it's closer to Owen, but in the US it's usually Ian.
These were really informative, thanks for taking the time to compile them for us. Lowkey wish you could have thrown in the Baabara n-word mishap in Wild World though. That was just beyond hilarious!
Feel kinda awkward because I was probably one of those little girls that cried when mr resetti yelled :( i appreciate him now but dude was scary as a child lolol
im wondering what kind of "world" your living in in animal crossing because the T.V shows and news stations have people on the screen and not animals so do they like co exist with the animals or is it like a totally separate thing or.......
ngl, i when i was a small kid with my wild world town i would literally always cry when resetti showed up, what made it worse i could t apologize or type anything because i couldnt write or read yet, truly a horrifying experience 👌 i still miss him now though
5:35 am I the only one who thought leaf was a girl at first? (Keep in mind when I played Animal Crossing new Leaf I was much younger and didn't pay much attention to what npcs were saying.)
My favorite version has to be Wild World as it's the very first Animal Crossing game I played when I was a kid so it'll always hold a special place! Awesome video by the way! I really appreciate your style of videos, they seem to feel more original maybe I think!
Fun fact: My sister who lives in Japan has Animal Crossing N.H and she tells me that Sahara has a male voice, because she was actually a HE. So yeah that’s when I learned that Sahara was a male.
@@trained2behave I'm honestly thinking the same way. Like I'm autistic and ADHD I'm a sensitive bitch cos of that but I didn't cry from Mr Resetti as a kid lmao
i’m glad i already knew how to actually pronounce leif’s name. i never heard it confirmed from the creators but i have a friend from college with the same name spelled the exact same way
I absolutely love redd, he's based off of my favourite mythical creature, kitsune, he acts like one too! Scams, being cunning, he's everything! My favourite special character
I called Leif, Oliver for a whole week because when I saw him for the first time I called him Oliver and I made it his nickname. He looks like an Oliver to me xD
This is the first video I've ever seen like this that's actually had lots of info that isn't just common knowledge to anyone playing the game for more than a week lol
Resetti made me cry many times xD also his music still makes me anxious I am grateful to him tho, he made an habit on me to save in every other game, even more than once just to make sure
Congratulations!! You're the first person to actually have taught me something in these 'Things you never knew' videos! do a second one, i'm begging you
Honestly, Mr Resetti didn’t scare me when I played City Folk as a kid. Sure, he caught me off guard when I saw him for the first time, but I got used to him afterwards. Thanks to him, I save my games constantly, even if there’s an auto save feature. I save just to be safe :’)
To be fair, overseas audiences are far less tolerant of too many things 🙄. I would love to play the original version when I finsih learning japanese tho :3
I honestly couldn’t care less about their genders. For a month I thought flick was a woman so I couldn’t care less about the other character’s genders. Also Luna, don’t try to get so SJW here.
@@Mr_Rykes I'm just pointing out thats its weird and kinda stupid that they have to change almost everything about a game to market it to other countries. They do this with anime as well, and they end up cutting a lot of things out.
Changing the gender of a couple characters is “almost everything”. The reason they do that is because CULTURE ISN’T THE SAME AROUND THE WHOLE WORLD. Some countries have different cultures, so they change the game or anime to fit the culture across the planet. Understood? End of story.
Most children: wAAAaAaAaaAaAa ressssseeeettetteteteiiii scarrerreyeyey Me: *mR rEssssSssssSeEeEeEtTtTtTttTiIi wHEReRerE ArE YoUoUoU I LoVEEeeE YoUUuuUuUuU* Translation for both, Waaaaaaaaaaaa mr ressetii is scary Me: mr ressetii where are you? I love you!
Okay, just adding to the Ressetti fact, but when I scanned Ressetti's amiibo in new leaf, Wisp (as Ressetti) said, "If no one ever resets again, I ain't gonna have a job. AND THAT'S NO GOOD FOR RESSETTI!"
One really cool fact I discovered is Orville and Wilbur were based on the Wright brothers! The Wright brothers were two American aviation pioneers who invented the first motor operated airplane.
Quite interesting facts! For what it's worth, it's someone who doesn't play Animal Crossing, these seem like they aren't commonly known, & rare knowledge is always great to get!
