Why can't they have Neville and Austin Aries on the main show? They don't have to worry about going over on time since they have their own network now. The only reason I can think of is crowd fatigue.
I get that Vince's vision for WrestleMania is more of a 'Pop-culture event' than a wrestling show but it still has 'Wrestle' in the title and kicking what will likely be the best wrestling match to the pre-show shows a severe disrespect to wrestling fans and the wrestlers themselves. It's pretty much a 'fuck you' to all of 205 Live, this match should be what makes lot of casual fans go 'well I've gotta try this now' after seeing it and relegating it to the pre-show means that a fraction of the eyes will be on the match.
Taker/HBK is the greatest match in WrestleMania history, and perhaps in WWE history. It's the only match I've seen that made me forget about wrestling being a choreographed, pre-determined stage show. It brought me back to my 5-year-old self, sitting at the edge of my seat and cheering on my idols. Mark and Shawn created pure magic that night.
TheYeezyEffect LOL! Who said I can't? WWE has been around since the 50's. I just think it's a pretty ridiculous statement to say that ONE match, in all those decades, was good enough to make someone forget they are watching a stage show. How about Austin/Bret WM13, Austin/Rock WM17, Taker/Mankind KOTR98, Sasha/Baily TO:Brooklyn, Punk/Lesnar SS2013, Cactus Jack/HHH RR2000, Mankind/Rock RR99, and plenty more to choose from. I rest my case.
As far as #1 is concerned, being in attendance I can attest to this... The main event at Mania 25 suffered from following Michaels and Taker. We were all exhausted... no one should have followed that... no one could have followed that.
HHH wanting to always main event manias and win them. Same thing happened in WMX8. No one gave a shit about him cus everyone was tired from the Rock vs Hogan match.
I was there too and I can concur. We were spent after all the excitement of Taker/HBK. The finishers, the near falls, the high spots, the involvement of 2 highly-regarded legends who could still go in the ring. That match was a thrill ride that couldn't have been followed.
The mere fact that Undertaker and Shawn put out a match which is to this day considered the greatest WM match of all time past their 40s just shows that how legendary both of them are
Luke, definitely agree here. A simple jealousy angle would have got the job done. Idk what the hell creative was thinking turning Matt into some psycho
I was there. That 'Taker v HBK match was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen at a wrestling show. Wow. I can still remember the feeling for the last 10 minutes of the match. The place was just going nuts! Just that match made the whole event/weekend worth every penny.
I've got a soft spot for this Wrestlemania. I'd just purchased my first home and brought a huge HD TV and got cable hooked up and this was the first PPV I watched on my new TV in my own first home lol. Good times man!
Hey ! Remember the fact you just saw about the tag team match moved to the pre-show due to a shitty concert ? They're doing it again to Aries vs Neville because sure, Flo Rida / Pitbull and shit is way more important ! #Newerasameoldshit
#11 Taker and HBK agreed pre-match that if something were to go wrong with the dive spot that the referee was to count Taker out legitimately. So Taker almost lost his streak 5 years early due to a bad landing.
As someone who watched this ppv live they should've made time for the tag title match also HHH and orton should've been a no holds barred the hype for the match up until this point Warranted it
I remember watching Wresltemania 25 I was 4 turning 5 in June and Wresltemania 25 was on my brother’s 6th birthday but anyways I totally remember watching it. The best one was Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels man I was In my living.
I remember when I bought the DVD for this pay per view, its the first Wrestlemania and wrestling match I ever watched. Became an instant fan of Jeff because of it
The unification tag team title match was the item that I looked forward to the most. I was a HUGE fan of Miz & Morrison. I was tremendously disappointed by the programming change. Oh well. Kidd Rock was enjoyable though. -- Yes, I remember Deuce & Domino (and definitely Cherry).
I watched hbk vs taker live for those of you that didn't have that honor I fell bad for you, watching a reply of it is still great but watching it live was pure magic
Last time I was this early AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle in WWE at the same time was a pipe dream. My goodness how things have changed for the better
Between the stipulation and the fact that it had to follow HBK/Taker I'm not sure the the main event ever had a real chance to be over. I wonder if that's why they went with the decision to have both men hit their finishers in the opening minutes of the match as a way to engage the crowd early.
The best part of this Wrestlemania was Rey winning the IC championship, Ricky Steamboat vs Chis Jericho, HBK vs. Undertaker, and the storytelling of Matt vs Jeff Hardy.
I thought the tag team match got bumped from the main card in order to give time for Taker and HBK... apparently, they weren't suppose to be given the time they got and so, the decision was made to bump the tag title match and allow them more time.
It was after this Wrestlemania I found WWE too be a bit boring and a kids show. 2016 is when I started watching again. Though it is still PG, they are giving us some good content which is enjoyable to all ages.
My first WrestleMania because I'm a fetus. I loved the show. The Hardys had a great feud, the Colons and Mizanin/Mundo were a fine match, and the Heartbreak Middle-Aged Man faced the Undertaker in a match SO FUCKING GOOD that it made me forget how disappointing the WWE Title Match was. I mean, it wasn't BAD. But it should have been.... more. Especially with that orgasmic build-up.
Well... Orton wasn't wrong Also as much as love Taker/HBK, I remember being legit scared when I saw the Undertaker take that fall. I was worried we just saw another Owen Hart incident. Thank goodness THAT didn't happen.
