I wrestled for WWE for 4 years and worked with many iconic wrestlers. Were they cool, or were they jerk? What were they like backstage when the cameras were turned off? Watch the video and find out.
@@johnnymartinez733 You are just a child who judges a wrestler by how people react instead of having your own opinion, shawn is one of the best if not the best ever

Could be that he was doing bodyguard work, and most of those guys are mean. Probably just playing the role. And why would he want to talk about WWE at his new job,on the clock?
There was this show about 15-20 years ago called Surreal Life. Maven was on it. By far, my favorite part of any season and any episode was when Maven opened up about his physical problems in WWE and how he made a choice to use steroids. That was a really cool thing to see at the time.
True story about Kane from my childhood. Me him and big show were in a elevator I was scared of Kane as a kid and he takes the mask off and goes “Look I’m a normal person.” Extremely nice guy.
I totally agree with him on Orton. Personally, I think he's the best to ever step into the ring, and like Maven said, I think a lot of people are going to realize that once he's retired.
I love Randy Orton he's one of my favourite wrestlers but there was some parts he did I didn't like but I wish him the best and he should do a movie star because he's really good at what he does
Maven eliminating Undertaker in the Rumble is a truly iconic moment in WWE history. He may not have had the most illustrious career but that's a moment fans at the time will never forget.
@@erichodosh2933 🤣🤣🤣i first searched maven eliminating undetaker on youtube and then came to know that this channel is of maven after looking his face i didnt see channel name first
I went to every OVW show back then. So many fond memories. I remember sitting in the 2nd row when The Prototype was introduced. It was a crazy time to be a wresting fan in this area. I knew these guys could have futures in WWE, but i never expected them to go as far as they have. Being able to see Randy Orton, Brock Lesner, Shelton Benjamin, Batista (Known as The Leviatin), John Cena, and others perform in such an intimate venue every week was a blessing.
@@reggiejames8626 I am not sure how it compares. But the ring was in the corner of the building so only 2 sides has sears. One of those sides had 4 rows and the other had 10. I think it had around 150-250 seats. I may be misremember the seat total though. I was a kid. They moved to the Davis arena around the time i stopped going. That arena was a lot bigger.
I dig that about Maven. Instead of dogging on everyone he seems to have really enjoyed his time in the wrestling business and is appreciative of those who helped him along the way.
I'm happy to see everyone praises Jericho as a person. He was one of the few guys who helped David Benoit after what happened in 2007. He really seems like a great man.
There are so many stories like Maven's about The Undertaker. It reminds me of my favorite quote about The Undertaker. I was watching something where WWE superstars talked about various wreslters. I dont remember who but someone said about Taker, and I'm paraphrasing. Wrestling is like a mountain. On one side you have superstars who have made it to the top. They are at the top and they are throwing boulders at the people who are try8ng to climb up. They want to stay on top and dont want anybody else up there. On the other side of the mountain, you have Taker at the top. Instead of boulders, he's lowering ropes and going hey guys come up here its great. Theres room for us all. Really personifies how much he really cared for the businees over his own career.
Seen Dave Batista years ago in NOLA, he was just chilling outside of a restaurant chatting with random strangers like he had known them for years. Truly a people person.
When he said about The Undertaker that "he is wrestling." That's enough to say how much respect everyone has for him and why everyone loves him!! The most iconic person in the history of WWF/WWE franchise.
@@igotthejuice2090 not really. Stone cold had an amazing persona, no question! Easily top 3 performers of all time(The undertaker, Rock and Stone Cold) but his longevity compared to taker's career was quite short. Everything about the undertaker was just too good! His gimmick, his fights, his streak, his looks, his entrance. Austin surely is a little behind taker's impact!! I love austin too, no denying but taker is taker. Like Maven said and I'm pretty sure most of the superstars will say "he is wrestling." He was there for 3 decades and did everything he could for the business.
@@igotthejuice2090yeah he’s definitely the most beloved wrestler ever, he speaks to so many demographics, everybody can respect a straight shooter who kicks their bosses ass 😂
I like how Maven's just being down to earth but also being honest about what his experiences are without being mad or angry, just not hating for clout like some guys.
Just came across this channel and I’m a big fan already; backstage personalities , drama, stories that is all interesting to me as a huge wrestling fan from 99-2009 range now that my son just got into wrestling as well - and got me back into it now - hopefully you keep up the content so I can keep up my ‘wrestling fix’
That's because besides play video games, kane was focused on his character, it was his priority, videogames were just a temporally distraction. Very diferent today, where some wrestlers spend more more time streaming on twitch that working on their gimmicks or wrestling performance.
@@DiegoRodriguez-qt4rwyeah wrestlers today don't spend any time working out or on their gimmick. They are all playing fortnite. And never wrestle at all
@@therainmakerinsider Sounds like the poor guy lost his way, and idk how he lost or gave up on that WWE dream but I wouldn't be surprised if it was drugs. Damn shame, he does seem like a decent guy. I was skeptical about clicking cause I wasn't familiar with him and I didn't know if it'd be some dick, or nobody who was there for 12 hours or would just say he loved everyone and everyone was amazing, but this guy, though he does try not to say anything bad, is cool.
@@Taima Maven never gave up on his WWE dream or being a pro wrestler and him being with WWE and being released could've been they didn't have nothing for him at the time or budget cuts because they do it with a lot of wrestlers if they can't find any other reason but Maven still never gave up on being a pro wrestler and still wrestled in other promotions til he didn't anymore but still has my respect for everything he has accomplished throughout his life
I met Undertaker and many other wrestlers during my many trips to Iraq between 2003 and 2010. I think I saw them 5 times in Iraq. I was assigned as a detailer and escort/guard for a few of the team and stage crew, I think in 2004 (it was my second trip out there). I learned there that even though I am 6'4" 225 lbs, the Big Show is huge. The guy's hands are bigger than my head but he was a huge teddybear, especially to the women in uniform. Taker is almost as huge as him but sounds like John Wayne. It caught me completely off guard but the guy was super humble.
It's interesting to see Maven's opinion on HBK as a person backstage. Shane Helms and RVD said they had problems with him aswell. Shawn is a great perforner but being born again didn't change his personality that much.
The rock had issues with Shawn as well that’s the reason they never had a mania match when it was pitched. Wonder if that’s why Shawn rode him about doing things like the rock in the ring even while it was unintentional
@BasiliusFuturrr Shawn use to be a real piece of shit back in the 90s and early 2000s. Shane Douglas even talked on his podcast about how Shawn got his ass kicked by a member of a battalion my brother was in because Shawn was hitting on guys wife. Then Shawn tried to superkick the Army Ranger outside of the bar, all over a woman.
@@charleslemon8777 The Rock refuses to speak with Shawn to this day. Shawn tried to hold him down while he was on the rise, apparently was very disrespectful towards the Rock's mother. On the first episode of smackdown, Shawn was a guest referee in match between the Rock and Triple H. Shawn super kicked the Rock for real. After the match the Rock confronted him about it and it lead to the Rock attacking him.
This for me was a very heart warming & nostlegic video. Maven's a good dude, u can legit tell from this video. I know he has sooo many stories to tale...
One of my fondest memories of you aside from Royal Rumble 02 and winning the Hardcore title, was when you were facing Kane to qualify for the Royal Rumble 05 and he gave you one of the best Chokeslams I ever saw, you sold it to perfection.
Dude I stumbled acrossed your channel because I've been listening to old wrestling stories for about a month (I'm 38) I was a massive wrestling fan growing up up until about 2001. I love hearing these stories!
Kane is Mayor of Knoxville and I ran into him at a Burger King 2 years ago and couldn't have been any nicer. He took pictures with everyone there including the kitchen staff before he ate. Also as Mayor he has done a fantastic job and will always have my vote.
He’s a dying of breed of politician who can have different views without spewing hate or relying on terrifying the masses. Do I want the country to follow his ideas? Not necessarily. Would I be damn ecstatic if politicians acted like him? Hell yeah.
@@CoupSounds I’m happily off Twitter (x?) since before he became mayor and he might just be good at scrubbing it but I just scrolled through back to like 2019 and didn’t see anything problematic. I assume if anything it’s crappy retweets because he lives in the Bible Belt and has to cater to more Nazis than he cares for, but yeah, it doesn’t seem that bad.
It doesnt surprise me at all that he loves Edge, Jericho and Kane. Those guys all seem so genuine and kind in podcasts and interviews. Great at what they do too.
Im gonna be honest, I wasnt a fan of you when you were in the WWE, but im becoming a big fan of you youtube. You are putting out some great stuff Maven, keep it coming!
When I was 10 years old (in the 90's), Shawn was at a Home Depot in a small town in south Texas. A lot of people were asking him for his autograph, so he asked for a table to be set up so he can just sit and sign. He might have been a jerk backstage, but he was never a jerk to his fans. I even ran into him at a Spurs game as an adult and asked to take a picture with him and he didn't hesitate to say "yes".
My childhood friend and his father got me into WWE the first match I ever saw was Undertaker vs Rey Mysterio, I was a smaller kid in my class so watching Rey stand up against the undertaker was truly inspirational even when he lost the match. Then the unexpected to me at the time was seeing Undertaker comeback in the ring helping Rey to his feet and embrace Rey for his efforts. I was 4 when I saw that match in 2003. I’ll never forget it. To this day I hold both of them in the highest regard and would love nothing more than to sit down with a few beers and these legends.
Batista just gives off great vibes. I love him in anything he does; wrestling, acting. He just seems like a genuine and sincere person. He had his obstacles to overcome - social anxiety being the biggest one.
I'd be very curious to see a part 2 of this. What are Maven's thoughts on Kurt Angle, RVD, The Hardy Boyz, Hulk Hogan, Christian, The Dudley Boyz etc.?
Kane is the mayor of Knoxville, TN..I live in the bordering county. He is always doing things for the community and the surrounding areas. He's not a stingy ass person when it comes to pictures and signings. He will do it all for free.
I can tell Batista is a very loyal human. When that whole situation went down with Gunn and Disney Dave was ready to quit the movie if they didn’t rehire Gunn
Adam is also one of the nicest to fans. Met him at my job once, and he came up to ask me where something was. He was so easy to take to and friendly. Will never forget it cause I grew up watching him.
Thank you for taking the time to do this, Mr. Huffman. I just want to say you had a big impact on me when I was just getting started in wrestling and it’s just great to see you so happy and healthy. All the best to you and yours, sir.
Maven. You are awesome. Been a fans for many years and always thought you should be been in WWE for longer. Don’t stop making content. I’m enjoying all your videos.
I've always liked Maven. Hometown not too far from where I live, so I consider him a hometown guy, and I always supported the hometown guys to do well. Glad to see him looking well, and loved his assessments of his fellow wrestlers.
Crazy that a lot of people say the same thing about HBK, that in the ring is great and backstage is a different person being a jerk and so. It is definitely not a secret but I am glad to see him helping pushing the young talent.
@@javonwilliamson6986he was like 25, a lot of guys aren’t established yet at that time and are still figuring themselves out. Guarantee he would’ve sounded a lot less like the rock with a few more years of development
Thank you for letting us peek inside one of the most unique perspectives on the business. It's no secret that the WWE locker room didn't give the warmest reception to Tough Enough and Diva's Search contestants, let alone winners. Good to know which wrestlers actually extended the helping hand and such.
Recently ran into this channel. I gotta say I hated you when I was a kid, now I understand you had a role to fill and you did a great job for our entertainment. I really appreciate your insight on what really went on behind the scenes all these years to put on a show for us. Thank you Maven!
Loving the videos, Maven! And I appreciate the honesty. Shawn has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, especially in the late 90s and early 2000s. He seems to be a better person now, but I can easily see him being the kind of person who wasn't the kindest to young talent. Keep up the great work!
I met Jericho one time signing autographs at a WCW house show at Hara Arena. Very nice guy, signed tons of free autographs. Even when they tried to get him to come inside he told them he was staying outside a little longer. Another fact; his biceps were deceptively big. He took a pic with me and my brother. His biceps felt like they could crush your head.
I have never seen anyone say anything remotely bad about the Undertaker. Such respect in the locker room, when you think back is something no one could ever imagine earning again.
Good to see you back out in the public light Maven. I hope you realize that you are the one of the millions of people who got to fulfill the ultimate dream of becoming a WWE superstar. There’s lots of us that envy you, but we are ALL proud of you for doing what none of us could.
I met Maven last year in New Jersey and Maven is so nice. He always smiled and he was very cool to talk to. I was cheering for Maven when I was a kid and saw Tough Enough and I definitely could tell that Maven was a big Rock fan by the way he wrestled.
Ill be honest, i dont get pro wrestling and never liked it, but these real life stories and insights are super fascinating. Thanks for sharing! Definitely gives me a difference perception and perspective about what this sport is about (in a very positive way).
Give it a shot, you'd be surprised that the storytelling is up to par with today's TV. And if you have before, and it isn't your tea, I appreciate the positive comment and you're always welcome to the club.
I highly recommend checking out the documentary series Dark Side of The Ring. As a life long wrestling fan, what goes on behind the scenes is a hell of a lot more interesting than what goes on inside the ring. Because the line between what's real and what's fake is intentionally blurred, I guarantee it's fascinating even if you're not a fan of wrestling.
You seem like such a humble guy that really appreciated his time in the ring, something only a dream for many of us. The fact all the names you have listed are considered legendary to the business today goes to show what a time the 2000s were.
Crash Holly (Mike Lockwood) committed suicide, hence the reason for Maven's careful choice of words. While Crash's story was tragic, Maven's story about Kane's (Glenn Jacobs) concern for Randy Orton and Maven is very sweet.
I believe he had marital issues with his ex wife. He stayed with Steven Richards to cope with the adversities in life. Drugs, stress and getting laid off by WWE got in his way; he couldn’t take it anymore and it worsened. The death was accidental because he choked on his own vomit but it was due to drug abuse. He left behind a young daughter and that’s the heartbreaking part.
Maven your content is amazing keep it up....ill be honest i only remember you from tuff enuff (few episodes i watched) as this was a time in my life i kinda grew out of wrestling....ive been in the shoot interview/old school wrestling podcasts phase the last few years and i love it.....keep the content coming your energy is awesome
I've heard nothing but great things about Chris Jericho. I haven't really watched his career in AEW but he is & will always be one of my all-time favorites.
@ModernDayRenaissanceMan he doesn't suck. Yeah he's not at the same level he was, but he's still good in the ring, great on the mic, and has had some great moments in AEW
Wow that’s super cool to hear what u had to say about guys like Chris Jericho and Dave Bautista! That’s pretty awesome to hear they were such a good dudes and there for ya when u were at a low point in your career. Great stuff. Love me some Y2J!!!
Glad to see Maven killing it on RU-vid. These videos have been absolute bangers. If you do this again would love to see Rob Van Dam or Christian on it!
Maven has literally gone viral. LITERALLY! This channel grew so damn fast and barely has any videos on it but so many views in such short amount of time, all views and comments are legit, people have been waiting for this for too long
Kane has been my favorite wrestler for as long as I can remember. It's so refreshing to hear yet another wrestler have nothing but positive things to say about him.
Didn't know Maven signed a 20 year non disclosure agreement with the WWE. I find it interesting that he waited till now to air his opinions on the WWE roster, including Vince.
This is probably something he’s been thinking about doing for years, but offline life kept getting in the way, RU-vid isn’t the most important thing after all, not after he’s had a taste of the outside world😂 So he probably figured “I’ll get to it when I get to it”😒 He looked at his watch, and a couple decades had passed!🤣 “Ok, I guess I’ll just do it now then!”😅
I loved how Maven came into the WWE because it was a different route than the others at the time. I was a big fan of his and happy to see him both eliminate the Undertaker and win the hardcore title. Also, his entrance music is pretty solid.
I’m glad that everyone agrees on Taker. One of the most genuine guys in the business, should’ve had 20+ world title reigns, but he cared more about the business and the future, putting guys over and making others look good than he did his own ego. Everyone knows he’s the best, but he knew when to do good business. There’s no one like him.
Love this video! Growing up I never really got into you (yeah I was a Cena fan) but lately I just been binge watching all these wrestlers tell their road stories and backstage and I could listen for just hours on hours. Thank you man and appreciate the hard work you put into the ring. 🖤
@@munkustrap2even undertaker respected him once he cleaned himself up. Alot of people hating on Michael's but even Shawn will admit that he's come along way to earn respect from fans and peers
Maven is one of my ALL TIME favorites. That 2000s run was awesome. Underrated. So happy to see Maven putting himself out there. Hope you make a comeback to the ring.
I call bullshit. Maven is only Mavens favorite. You literally say this guy who never got past the theme song and never got a character change was your favorite? What about him was so great? The template move set, being rated the same in HCTP as Stacy Kiebler, or was it that time he got his ass handed to him by the Undertaker so badly that we were sure he was being written off tv?
Can I say how nice it is to see Maven look good. I remember seeing an interview with him where I felt sad because he just didn’t look right. I couldn’t be happier to see him look healthy and able to talk about this experience with a smile
Maven! I absolutely love the content! I remember that rumble in 02 when you drop kicked Taker out of the ring like it was yesterday. I was 12 years old watching it with my brother and dad! Glad to see you are doing well and hope to see the videos continue!
We met Maven at Fan Frenzy, Global Warning, Melb., 2002. Maven was so uniquely happy to see all us fans smiling to see him!! .. .. The pre-show had ended and some guy kept saying "Maven wrap it up" .. .. Maven happily acknowledged the huffy handler, yet stayed to sign our tour books plus greet everyone left in his Que (No one but Maven did that!!) ❤
