Hi Catherine, I filled an empty border with cosmos that i grew from seed, bare in mind i really don't have a clue what I'm doing as i inherited 2 greenhouses! Lol. I'm avidly watching you and many other allotment growers and learning so much! But my passion is flowers. Thankyou for the video x

Hi…well the Batchelor Buttons, Corn Cockle, Nigella, Snap Dragons and Sweet Peas are all in bloom and I do love them all!!! But I have a soft spot for the Corn Cockle. It is so bright and unique…I have never seen anything like it. My friends and neighbours love the flowers I have grow this year so I have shared your RU-vid channel with them so they can learn about all of the lovely flowers you grow.
That’s fantastic you have all those lovely flowers in bloom in your garden. The corncockles are just so bright and unique. You can get white varieties of them too and they are really easy to save your own seed from to grow next year. @@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm The plants have not flowered yet (our last frost date is around May 25th and I planted out on May 28th) so they have only been in the ground for 3 weeks. The Corncockle and Bachelor Buttons are about 1 1/2 to 2 ft tall right now and are budding up. The Snapdragons are close to 12” tall and the Nigella are only 6” tall (I should have started them earlier under the grow lights). As soon as I have blooms I will let you know which ones I like best but I have a feeling I will love them all!!
I've recently moved house to a beautiful victorian terraced property and am currently doing the garden, I've found I've got a real interest in veg & cut flowers so I'd like to plant a cut flower garden for personal use only. This video and your channel are amazing....thankyou. It can become very overwhelming so your videos really help x

The rest including my snapdragons I am starting indoors - just on the windowsills. Your plants look so healthy. Hello! Thanks so much for subscribing and watching my videos. Good luck with your growing season just getting started. Direct sowing I have always found difficult mainly due to the slugs so I tend to start most things off indoors. If I have any spare seeds and spare space I sometimes try some direct sowing as an experiment. I think only 1 year out of 6 that worked for me though! The flowers have been great this year as we have enjoyed a heat wave and there has been no rain and wind to damage them. Next weeks video is a tour of the summer flower patch so I can show you what is flowering now x

The only seeds I've had success direct sowing (during our autumn) were Calendula (which amazingly are blooming already in winter) - though we do have a temperate climate with daytime winter temps averaging 10-12 C; Forget-me-not; Cottage garden mix and poppies. My cornflowers (bachelor buttons) didn't appear which I thought odd as the packet recommended direct sowing, but I'll try again in spring as I have no grow lights and limited windowsill space. Luckily I don't have a major slug problem - though I do find the odd one - usually chomping on my lettuces lol.
Hi... I'm watching it from India.... cornflowers are my favourite...but I've only blue and purple variety and they are blooming right now...I love your collection... hope one day I would be able to grow so many flowers :)

@@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm ummm.... right now I've gladiolus, Cosmos, pansy ,zinnia , celosia , gaillardia, gerbera, Californian poppy , Indian (kashmiri) rose,carnation and yarrow right now...if I'm pronouncing it correctly 😅..I want to grow as much as I can... I'm obsessed 😍with flowers..but I've limited resources....all plants are growing and blooming well in my backyard but aphids bugs attack continuously as temperature rising here ...do you have any remedy for this???
@@user-io6uo5ek5i they all sound gorgeous 🙂🌸 Aphids can be a problem for me too. Try 5ml neem oil, 10ml horticultural soap mixed with 1 litre water in a spray bottle x
@@cloudberryflowers-flowerfarm hey.... sorry for replying so late....I sprayed the neem oil and soap mix as you told.... yesterday on my plants.... hope it will work... cause there is an another problem of leaf miners occuring... it's my first time when my plants facing multiple problems ... maybe it happened because I use my backyard ground directly instead of pots (as I usually do) for Seed sowing 😫

Can I ask for any suggestions on deterring slugs and snails. I can get seeds to germinate in my greenhouse but then find they all get eaten. Enjoying your videos, thank you
Thanks for watching 🙂 I have had lots of problems with slugs over the years too and tried all sorts. Beer traps work well, going out with a torch when it gets dark to pick up any I can find, not direct sowing and just planting out larger seedlings that can survive a bit of nibbling, keeping the seedlings high up on the staging as slugs more of a problem on the ground in the greenhouse.
Some new flowers there I'll have to check out! I adore Feverfew for how easy it is to grow, how tough it is and just love how it gets covered with white daisy type flowers. Another favorite of mine is a wild flower called Nipplewort, pretty little yellow flowers on stems that grow up through other plants and are sturdy. Would they work for cut flowers? I'm not sure. I also love the Cornflowers, and one year had luck growing all different colors, but I've never seen a purple one like you showed! I'm partial to anything in the daisy group, love the short wild ones and the really tall ones. I've had good luck dividing some of them. I keep buying the Bellis Perennis little daisy seed packs but they always seem to grow white with pink tips, not like what's shown on the packet, fluffy pink heads! I have seen the pink ones before, growing in a gravel driveway of a nursery, so I know they exist somewhere! Wasn't it nice to have a bit of sun today? I cut chicken wire fencing for protecting plants from the hares! Still lots to do!
I love feverfew too, so easy to grow from seed, survives any weather and looks fab as a filler in bouquets. Daisies too although sometimes I find that the petals are damaged easily so not so good in bouquets. Glad that you are making progress with the chicken wire for protecting against they hares. It has been lovely to have a small glimpse of sunshine over the last few days although just come in just now and it is a wild wet night outside!! One for staying in cosy in front of the fire 🔥 😊

Hi Cathrine; I planted some wildflowers seeds in different pots; just sprinkled them in! Then; threw all the packets away(pure novice) and now; I have lots of pots; filled with lots of different foliage; and some nice flowers; haven’t got a clue what’s what; there all mixed together; and all I do is water them! I want perinatal flowers; (because of my knowledge) how do I tell the difference?? Please be patient ppl; I’m learning best I can!
I think the only thing we can do is try and identify the flowers! I don't know if you can attach photos of the flowers here in the comments section or if you wanted to email me some I can do my best to tell you what they are and if they are perennial or not x
Size isn’t too important. You might want to use the smaller diameter netting for slimmer stems such as scabious and cornflowers to grow up through and use the larger diameter netting for much bigger stems like dahlias. The main thing is getting the support in early when they are still small plants and then they can grow up through it.
Hello, we are in zone 8b and mostly have mild winters with the temperatures below 10 down to about minus 3 Celsius. Some winters are much colder with snow and ice but this winter has been relatively mild so far. Our summers are mild and not often that hot and we have a lot of rain.
Zinnias I have always found frustratingly difficult to grow here in Scotland outdoors. I think the weather was just not hot enough for them consistently. This year I have had my greenhouse for the first time and finally had a good supply of zinnias which has been very exciting! I grew just one variety not expecting much but next year will be more adventurous now I have had some success! Sunflowers are a gorgeous easy to grow cut flower. This year they have done fantastically well and I think have been so good they deserve a video of their own next year! Thanks for watching x
