10 Fights That DESPERATELY Needed One More Round 

If only Julianna Pena had one more round in her rematch against Nunes, according to her. Or maybe 2 or 3 or 7 more rounds. It was all going according to plan.

No, Jan won 1-3 and Ank won 4-5, with 5 arguably being a 10-8 as he had about 5 minutes straight of ground control and was the only one doing significant strikes. A draw, if not a win for Jan, was absolutely warranted.

I don’t think Jan was getting owned. I gave him round 1, and he absolutely destroyed Ankalaev’s legs in Round 3. I think the draw was the right call

I actually think Blachowicz vs Ankalaev being a draw was a good decision and was a pretty even fight overall it definitely wasnt a robbery and in my opinion could have gone either way depending on who took the first round but a draw is definitely still valid and the media was unjustifiably horrible towards Jan.

Post fight statements made by Dana aside, this presentation is a disservice to the Blachowicz vs Ankalaev bout. It was a good fight, in round 3 Jan was probably 1 or 2 leg kicks away from earning a TKO via leg kicks, and Magomed's comeback in the 4th and 5th was pretty hype, even if Dana by his own admission wasn't paying attention anymore. I also think the draw was the right decision, I scored the first 3 rounds for Blachowicz, and the last 2 for Ankalaev, the last one being a 10-8, which makes for the rightful 47-47 in my opinion. The first round was very close and it isn't unreasonable to give it Ankalaev swaying the fight away from the draw for him, but that's not how I saw it. But yeah, one more round would have been certain victory for Magomed, Jan had nothing left.

Jan vs Magomed wasn't even a bad fight, especially in the early rounds when every leg kick was hurting Ankalaev

DJ/McCall 1 is One of the biggest what if's in MMA history. If the fight had been scored properly Joe B could've won the belt he's been so close to winning so many times throughout his career or Uncle Creepy could've gotten that one legacy reign before his body started falling apart

I hate when people say that Ankalaev clearly won. 1 was very close, and I thought Jan won it tbh. 2, 3 no doubt Jan aswell. And 4, 5 was Ankalaev, with rd 5 being a 10-8. Sure, Ankalaev dominated the last round, and he would've clearly won round 6. But it's a five rounder, and it was clearly a draw in my opinion.

Jan won that fight. The most clear round for Jan the judges said he lost, giving him that round would have gave him the win

I was really thinking Burns v chimaev would be on this list just to see if Khamzat could go another round at that pace but great nonetheless

Edwards was no where near tired and even if there was a 6th there's a good chance he would have recovered between rounds and if it took Diaz 24 minutes to land a single good shot then I doubt another 5 minutes would have helped. Leon probably would have just pieced him up or clinched him the last 5 minutes.

The fact that not even one of the 3 judges gave a single 10-8 round in Shogun vs Hendo is just totally insane. I mean round 5 is as clear as a 10-8 can get, not to mention Hendo could have easily got a 10-8 for one of the early rounds.

Seeing Benson/Chandler know makes you realize (if you haven’t grasped the obvious) why Dana is giving him to McGregor. Someone who blitzes you out of the gate when McGregor is faster and a counter-striker. Chandler is explosive and therefore less likely he’ll be able to overmatch McGregor with cardio like Diaz and Khabib did. And with all the stupid wrestle-shaming by casuals and guys with no ground game, (e.g. McGregor fans and McGregor himself, respectively) Chandler may be less likely to use his wrestling. Just like gifting Jones a guy with no takedown defense after Francis and Stipe are out of the picture.

I was half expecting this to be a list of Nate Diaz fights.

Yeah in what world was ankalev the clear victor? I’m not saying Jan won, but ankalev didn’t do much other than hold Jan down rounds 3-5. If the main criteria of scoring is damage, I don’t see a problem with a draw. Ankalev was in visible pain and could barely stand after round 2. To say a round won by laying on top of someone for 3 minuets is equivalent to the damage of some of the most vicious leg kicks is laughable.

How do so many people think magomed was winning? Damage > effective grappling. Even though jan slipped doing his td defense, magomed could barely walk. I was screaming at the TV for Jan to keep leg kicking, but he never took advantage of how much damage he did and somehow was out wrestled by a guy with mangled legs. A draw was the good decision for sure, but I saw it leaning towards Jan just for the fact that magomeds movement was severely impaired due to the leg kicks
