Tbf GSP was 100% correct about Hendricks. Once USADA kicked in, Johny’s physique melted overnight along with his ability to make weight or even stay competitive with ranked fighters.
Isn't it fitting that GSP's only fight at 185lbs was on the same card that Hendricks fought Costa, and looked like a soggy old man? One man was on a career low-light out of the company, and one looked very good, and had a career highlight on his way out of the company? Seemed like Karma to me.
its just so convenient that gsp ran away from the sport before usada and only fought once under usada in a fight against one eye bisping and didnt look as dominant as he was during his title reign..
Bro Dana was so scummy during that DJ vs TJ debacle, really trying to convince the world that Conor deserves P4P #1 over Mighty Mouse, even if DJ didn't put butss in seats he was about to break one of the greatest records in our sport and Dana couldn't accommodate him even a little bit?
It wasn’t that DJ wanted an easier fight. DJ said on his stream that he said he would fight TJ for a million dollars. In fact, he and Cody had been in talks about fighting each other after Cody defended against TJ. At the time, Cody was still undefeated and a much bigger name.
DJ didn't start making a +200k purse until like his EIGHT or NINTH defense which is mad disrespectful. cant blame him for asking for $1M… which isn’t demanding too much for what he accomplished at that point.
Personally, Ben Askren was ducked so hard. He literally made Jorge tap from breaking his knee with his forehead, SHOULDVE fought for a title immediately after!!!
Askren got a title contender fight with Lawler to see where he is, B-league champs can't get direct title shots in the A-league, Askren almost lost that Lawler fight and it was a very early stoppage that Askren won even ref realize he made a mistake.
The problem I have with the Anderson/Wideman entry is that if Anderson was so aware of the Risk vs Reward ratio being so high, why would he choose to fight the way he did? Showboating with so much on the line, ballsy but it didn’t pay off.
Ego and probably the adrenaline of being in the cage I imagine once he stepped into the cage and the fight started he just reverted to his usual form without realizing it.
There’s no problem. Here’s a quote DIRECTLY from Anderson himself that ppl often I guess forget about (mmaweekly 10/20/2012): “Obviously, this might happen, but I have 2 fights on my contract and I think one of them will be with [GSP] and I don’t really have any intention of fighting with [Weidman] because I’m not a fool. I’m already an oldie, you know?” It almost reads like parody. But it was so logical you almost don’t even react to it. Makes flawless sense.
Anderson was very arrogant already by then for a couple fights, & it kept working which made him get even MORE arrogant & MORE careless. Weidman is still legit, I think he is above Izzy on the GOAT list w better title defenses
Yup, they gave title shot to Dan Henderson who was no.13 ranked at that moment so Bisping could defend his title, Dana still wanted Bisping as champion. Even late replacement Khabib's title shot opponent Iaquinta was no.11 ranked and then he was no.9 ranked right after then Iaquinta beat no.5 ranked Kevin Lee.
@@timurjack8773found the butthurt Muslim. Also your boy khabib literally dropped out of fights and almost died cause he couldn’t make weight 😂. What’s even worse is that khabib should’ve been stripped in his fight with Gaethje since it was caught on camera that when he weighed in visibly out of it the scale didn’t stop moving, meaning he missed weight. But of course cause it was in Abu Dhabi they let it slide 😐. Also I saw on another comment you said Belal is a bigger draw than Colby 😂😂😂 you Muslim fanboys man.
Leon don't want to give colby the title shot because he feels that he doesn't deserve it and he's not wrong. The real champ would give the title shot to who deserve. And colby didn't do anything for the title shot.
nice vid tommy! I have heard the JBJ quote about sergei and risk/reward, but chael said recently that john did agree to fight both him and francis, but that he preferred francis/stipe for obvious reasons
Correct. Which is why Colby doesn't deserve the next title shot. If Colby were to win the title, 170 is going to an absolute shit-show for the next 2 years and I don't mean that in a good way, count on it.
Never thought Dana blowing his load announcing Connor for the mayweather presser could get funnier But no audio and slowly zooming in to his tomato face definitely did it😂😂
Bisping wasn't scared he knew he could make more than twice the money fighting gsp. It's not on I'm not defending it but that is what I think was the case.
In hindsight yes, but DJ's last loss at that point was against Dom Cruz, and he had 0 interest in risking everything he had accomplished at that point just to do ufc a solid.
DJ would have cut through TJ like butter and Dana did him dirty and built a stupid narrative that DJ was asking for too much etc etc etc the situation is eerily similar to the current Francis situation but whatever. It sucks that only now is he getting the respect he deserved years ago.
@@madgavin7568 well, TJ wasn't champ when the fight was first brought up. Dillashaw was waiting on his title shot at 135 but Cody got injured and then the talk of a fight with DJ came up.
@@jay_1212 Colby got surgery right after winning the IC title and because of that Dana stripped him of the title because he thought Darren Till was going to be the next Conor. Woodley never wanted to fight Colby
@@sexualchocolate516 bro that’s not even the case lol just look back at Woodley’s title reign as soon as he won it he was pushing for a money fight with either a Diaz brother or GSP his entire reign. He never wanted to fight Wonder boy, Colby, Damien Maia, Till or even Hector Lombard.
Henry Cejudo proved that that DJ-TJ fight was a farce. DJ quite rightly asked for Tj to fight at LEAST ONE fight at Flyweight FIRST because he knew that the cut was difficult even for HIM. He basically tried to spare TJ from getting fucked up for no reason. Infact I think DJ’s team had even suggested that the fight take place at 135 instead for the Bantamweight Title and the UFC denied them. So it wasnt this grand gesture from DJ either lol. Can you imagine, if Dj vs Tj took place at Flyweight in the state that TJ was in?
I get Bisping’s case.. He beat Anderson Silva fresh from the Weidman loss, took the belt from his #1 hater in Luke Rockhold, defended it against Henderson his old rival that knocked him out cold, then got a chance to possibly top it of with GSP. That would’ve been a mad record if he won the last one..
GSP knew Hendricks was on the sauce but nobody believed him, USADA proved he was right all along. Lets be honest here Bisping went on record saying he did not want to fight Whittaker and def avoided Yoel 😂
Anyone who seen the chael jones fight saw chael dominating jones on the feet. Jones was so surprised he kept going for takedowns because chael was outstriking him. I used to use chael sonnon in ufc 3 and 4 fighting online. His long reach around attacks really throw people off. Just ask jon.
Woodley/Till was meant to be Woodley/Colby for the undisputed WW title - Colby never signed the dotted line, deciding on nasal surgery instead, so Uncle Dana switched & gave the shot to Till instead
1:42 - What is this clip from? Looks like a gem that I´ve totally missed. Would love it if someone knew and could help me out because I really want to see it. (:
This video makes me think how close we could have been to GSP vs Romero had Yoel somehow claimed the belt instead of Bisping... interesting one if you ask me.
Bisping actually had a bout agreement with Whitaker though, Rob got injured thats when he went down the GSP route Bisping was never injured it was Rob.
I think it’s funny when some fans use the word scared about a professional prize fighter. In most of the cases the champ believes the risk isn’t worth the reward.
@@madgavin7568after beating Usman in the trilogy Leon was asked about fighting Colby and with a scared look on his face and a fake smile he replied “I think since I’m the champ I should be the one who decides”
@@CoolPandaTheMovieNerd Colby lost twice to Usman. Leon beat Usman twice 😂 you seriously think Leon's scared? Colby hasn't done a thing to earn another title shot.
9:51 micheal Bisping had his eye kicked out on the steroid era, stuck around to win a last second title shot on no notice, went out on his shield, and went straight to being a successful TV personality for the UFC. If we were still waiting on the GSP fight in 2024, we would all find a way to be ok with that
